The Little Mermaid Attraction Headed to MK?

American Idol is the only thing that has been announced. If I remember right, January 2009 is when it is expected to open. Nothing new after that, but we have heard many rumbles that stuff is planned (family coaster at DHS, Star Tours 2, Little Mermaid etc).

Disney has not even formally announced the "Buena Vista Tower Project".

As far as cloned rides go- I remember when WDW opened and The Haunted Mansion was a clone of the DR (built at the same time, but opened later) and everyone was asking "Where is the PotC?". well, we got Pirates (not as good, but, whatever:lookaroun). I have no problem with cloned rides as long as they convey the storyline in an unobtrusive way (Soarin' for example).
Anything new is better than stagnant.

I was hoping for the return of the castle cake!!!!!!!

What? :lookaroun
My first time back to WDW was with the "CAKE", I hated it! It made me want to come back again to re-live the magic of my youth and see the castle in all it's glory. I guess the marketing plan worked, I've been going back ALOT since then
.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a new e-ticket (I'd really like to see a more thrilling attraction in Adventureland, for example), but I'll gladly take any addition to the MK. As mentioned, MK hasn't received an e-ticket since 1992. That is way too long. If I remember correctly, this would be the first new attraction (one that didn't replace another one) since 1992 and Splash Mountain (or was the Barnstormer added when they re-named Mickey's Starland back in the mid '90s?)...so at least the park may finally expand its attraction roster.

I guess after that area has remained vacant for so long it is no longer the old home for 20k leagues under the sea.

Wow- can't believe I forgot that. You're right...it has been so long it is hard to see it as a replacement, but I guess it really is.

I don't think it counts because it wouldn't be a direct replacement, like Toad changing to Pooh. It was a ride that was paved over years ago, and is now just another vacant space. And it's not like they are taking another attraction off of the roster to add this one.

I wish people would stop hating new rides (M:S, Pooh, JIIwF, SGE) just because they replaced an old one that they liked better. Sure they might not be as good but that isn't a reason to not like them.

I would have thought that declining standards would have been a perfectly valid thing to get upset about. Even I couldnt knock fan boys for that one..................

 :sohappy:

And for the record I am a big fan of M:S and I do enjoy Pooh and all versions of Imagination.

Not only that, but what is wrong with wanting to see MK's attraction-roster grow? Do we want it to be the #4 MK in the world?

I don't know if it would be below Tokyo or not, but it sure isn't close to Paris or Disneyland. It has been the best before and it can be the best again.

Tokyo may not be the most visually pleasing MK, but the quality/upkeep of their park and attractions, plus the first-rate entertainment, more than makes up for it.
