I have updated the teams, you are even with four and four. I suggest Leaders you take on the 5th task of your team OR do it all together.

Everything sounds great so far, I like the name, the Gladiator dinner show sounds good.

Leave me in charge of the DVC unit pool. I got some ideas bouncing around.

I propose that the DVC pool look more like a cleaner version of the roman baths, like this: http://www.stonehengetours.com/html/images/bath-image-roman_baths.jpg

Sort of similar to the Hotel MiraCosta pool in Tokyo DisneySea: http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/Mira Costa 07.jpg.

I also suggest a sort of courtyard with a replica of the trevi fountains but with disney characters: http://z.about.com/d/goitaly/1/0/C/0/-/-/rome_trevi_1.jpg

I'm personally against any sort of Gladiator themed dinner show, I think that would be quite tacky and very un-disney.

As for the name, Grand Roman sounds very unoriginal. Disney's Ancient Rome Hotel sounds much better, or simply Disney's Roman Resort.

My main beef with the roman theme in general is that Disney already sort of done something like it :http://www.tdrfan.com/around_the_resort/hotel_miracosta/hotel_miracosta_night.jpg in Tokyo no less.

Chip N Dale's Imagineering Rangers
DVC addition time!
Ok Rangers!
The original idea was to give each of you one area to work on, and I would pull it all together for the final write up and presentation.

But in many ways, I also like how we work with each other...so I am assigning two of you to two related tasks.

POOL AND LOBBY...Stitchcastle and Figmntal

I like the ideas you both have, so I am letting you both tackle these together...this also can include the exterior look of the building, the outside courtyards (great place for that fountain!) and the overall LOOK to the DVC complex.

I would like if we went "Old Rome" here...the medieval style of collumns and gold leafing, and statuary and painted frescos (think Vatican for the style... but without all the religious icons), but if you decide a different direction...that's ok too.

RESTAURANT and RECREATION...Mewhunter and Kermit

I think you both would work great at designing these areas. They should be separate entities...but if you want, you should be able to do crossover with food in the recreation.
One idea I had to include for the restaurant OR recreation(and you don't have to use this!) would be a wine tasting bar with Italian wines...but it's just an idea that I think fits in nice with the vactaion clubbers.

Now...I am iffy about the Gladiator dinner show. BUT if you can sell it as something that still retains the family friendly spirit of Disney then I might be swayed!
I DO like the Galdiator concept (chariot races, heroic monster fighting) but not the man vs man...or vs lion violent aspects of it.
So if you guys want to propose that as the recreation feature...that's cool...but give me alternative ideas as well.

Me? I'll work on the villa layouts. Not terriby exciting...but I have stayed in a couple DVC villas, so I think I can have some fun with it.

Good ideas stitchcastle! I didn't realise that the MiraCosta looked that, well, Roman-y. But we've gone with it now. You're starting to sway me against the idea of a Gladiator dinner show, it reminds me of Medieval Times or Pirates Dinner Adventure. However what about Chariot Racing?? And I think Roman's liked to visit the theatre as well, how about incorporating that.

Does anyone like the sound of Disney's DolceVita Resort? Otherwise we should keep it simple and go for Disney's Roman Resort.

It looks like the Imagineering Rangers have already been assigned tasks. We should do the same for the Brainstormers. Should we create separate topics for each team at this stage?

I was trying to figure out if we needed separate Team threads...but I don't think so...because what the Rangers do is going to be in some ways coinciding with what the Brainstormers do!

oh...and yes CharlieD...I LOVE Disney's Dolcevita as a name!

I think Grand Roman sounds a little too much like Grand Floridian

(My spouse mentioned..."hey then they can do La Dolcevita with Zach and Cody!" um....yeah :lookaroun)

Name sounds great to me! I'll have assignments up tonight, but if you want a specific part, let me know.

My preference would be room layout, but I'm open.

Ditto on the name, sounds great. Just to be a technical grammar nazi, it should be Disney's Dolce Vita Resort and Spa, right? Just making sure the meaning doesn't change between 1 and 2 words.

Good question. I don't think it falls cleanly into any of the requirements set forth in the first post. Unless Mater objects, maybe it can be a joint project?

That would be cool with me!

Yeah...I was thinking a spa is not really the hotel feature, and not really the DVC recreation...but something else.

But I can not imagine a Roman themed resort without one!!

Ok, also needed (meaning by room layout) is a layout of the resort (i.e. Map of Buildings, restaurants, etc.)

NOTE: THe spa would be recreation. But, if you wish to do it as joint, and go above and beyond of the "average" expectations. Feel free to do it jointly, BUT you would need a different recreation.

WDW Vacationer, I'd be happy with pretty much anything. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the special feature could be, this is something I'm not really sure on. Oh and just as Mater posted that- I'd be happy to do a layout. Which reminds me, we still haven't decided a location I don't think.

I'd like to see it above the Contemporary Resort on Bay Lake with a Monorail spur, as it perfectly compliments the other deluxe resorts on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

This would be my vote as well.

If they ever put anything there, it's most likely going to be a Deluxe, so why not ours??

a theater would be nice, kind of like its own little concert venue ala the Hyperion but then making it Roman themed makes reminiscent of the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal City Walk.

here's some art i did for the Roman DVC lobby area, under the assumption that we're builidng it on bay lake.

I figured there would be a restaurant patio on the left side and then, the pool can go from indoor to outdoor on the right side.

That's amazing! How are you able to produce something like that so quickly!
