Get a grip. Really. It was a nightclub. Alcohol was served and girls were picked up. Tourists were made fun of. And it was New Years Eve.... again and again and again.

I had friends who worked there, i had friends who patronized the place. We came, we had our fun. We drank our drinks and enjoyed the shows.

Life goes on. Its over. You can't recapture it no matter how hard you try.

Wow, once again, so many people eager to rain on other's parades...

Never said it would obliterate the market. Pure hyperbole by you

JT04: "the sleeping giant Dubai is when it comes to theme parks that will draw masses from Europe and Asia that would have gone to Orlando. Simple deduction."

Okay, "draw masses" then

Never said Atlantis was a theme park, only using it as an example of it's growing tourism boom.

All I'm saying is that Dubailand isn't going to happen as all those flashy press junkets portrayed.

The heat is not that different from Vegas. Enough said.

Vegas = indoor entertainment. Theme park = outdoor entertainment.

If Dubai draws 10 or 15 per cent of visitors from Europe and Asia that would have gone to Orlando, well that is a big number. If Vegas grabs an additional 10 or 15 per cent of convention business that would have gone to Orlando, well that is a big number too. I happen to know that Disney is concerned about these numbers and losing business to it's competitors; Dubai and Las Vegas.

Do you really think HP went from Disney to Uni because JK Rowling is too demanding? :lookaroun

Dubai is air conditioning beaches and are developing amazing technologies for cooling the outdoors in their developments. They can keep a theme park street cool without a problem.

I hope the american tourism business is not as blind as our auto companies proved to be 30 years ago. But it appears some may be. Not Disney though.

For those of us who are looking to get our AC fix...Monday night might be that day.

Just passing this on; from the Orlando Sentinel

Here's a chance to see some friendly favorites from Disney's defunct Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse -- and it's all for a good cause, the fight against Crohn's disease.

Several former AC and CW cast members will take part in "The Number 2 Revue," a variety show to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. The event takes place Monday (Jan. 12) in the Edith Bush Theatre at the Orlando Rep, 1001 E. Princeton Street, Orlando. (That's in Loch Haven Park, north of downtown, off Mills.)
A reception starts at 7, with the performance at 8.

Disney performers Billy Flanigan and Sheila Ward host; among the entertainers scheduled to appear are: Karl Anthony, Andrea Canney, John Cannon, John DeHaas, Anne Hering, Laura Hodos, Julie Ohrberg, Kyle Mattingly, Krista Miller, Marissa Montigney, Meghan Moroney, Layden Sadecky, Justin Sargent, Stacy Schwartz, Amanda Wansa, Terry Ward, Cory Warren and Jenn Warren.

There's a $20 suggested donation at the door, and organizers ask that you pay in cash only, please.

I know that if I'm recovered from the Marathon on Sunday I'll be there.

Evidenced by?

Or, is this a continuation of your theory that Disney closed PI to give their existing business and clientel (guests) to Universal Orlando in an effort to stave off Vegas and Dubai?

No. Because Disney (an American company in the tourism business) is acting globally. Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Lines, Disney Vacation Clubs, and Adventures by Disney. All brilliantly strategized.

jt04, Somewhere along the line we missed each other and are talking about two completely different things.

Ummmm, making an early bid for non-sequitor of the year? I'm completely lost on this one.

No the conversation just split when I responded to another poster.

I think Disney let HP go for several reasons and not getting along with JK was low on that list. If Disney wanted HP in the parks it would be there.

With that said, if you go back a few pages I think you can make sense of what I am saying. Not saying you have to agree with me.

Let's play "How far off topic can we get?" I'll start.

I once saw a wookie at the AC, or was that merf. Oh well I can't remember. Nevermind, sorry I brought it up. What is this thread about anyway?:lookaroun
