The reason I like the Epcot idea is because you visit different locations "around the world" in World Showcase. I could definitely see it as a kind of "stand alone" attraction that is placed in one of the small vacant pads or possibly tucked in behind the UK pavilion with an entrance/exit path behind the International Gateway that would allow it to be open after Epcot closes and serve the Boardwalk hotels and beyond.

It would be great if the Outpost was near International Gateway. The Adventurers Club would be a great replacement. If it were to go in WS, it would have to be visible from the promenade. It could replace the Millenium pavillion.

I think it would be horrible in one of the parks...at The Boardwalk or near a resort fine but not in a park.

Everyone wants it to be where there are not many kids around but put it in a park and you would get more kids plus it would ruin a park IMO...

YUCK!

The existing building is part of the show. It would probably be cost prohibitive to rebuilt elsewhere w/ all the show specific fixtures, "secret passages", etc. Sure, add an adjacent AC restaurant or something, but this isn't something can can simply or feasibly be moved.

Agree.
AC, in it's original form, does not belong inside a park.

Agreed. It's definitely a later-evening activity--the alcohol and adult innuendo were key components and those would just seem out of place at Adventureland at 2 in the afternoon.

Master Yoda, a dinner show? I think that would ruin the spontaneity and interactiveness of the Club which is what made it special. What made it work was that people could wander in and out, and half the fun was seeing tipsy newbies try to figure out just what-the-heck they had stumbled into ("OMG Casey, that puppet just called you a hootchie!").

Care to elaborate because I was under the impression it already is.

And the first time some moron straps on a bomb and runs into a park in 'dubailand' that'll kill any prospects for western tourism there..

I'm sure the George Bush Soft Ball throw, the Obama puppet show, and the International Flag Burning Pavillions will be quite nice however :)

The truth is, most westerners view ANY travel to the middle-east as risky at best... Couple that will the current world political climate, recent events in India, etc, and you've got few reasons to tour Dubai, and a lot more reasons to travel to Central Florida.

They are not building in Iraq, or Iran.

I would go to Dubia if I can, i bet they have much tighter security than Florida.

What stops some moron from strapping on a bomb and running into the Magic Kingdom.... nothing at all.

The first time that happens then Americans would sign away the rest of their civil liberties.

As for the Adventure Club it failed because, most people care less.

They go to WDW to go to Theme Parks not clubs.
From what I read I would never go if Disney did open it again.

We had a foreign exchange student from near Dubia come to our highschool and stay for the year (last year).

He was really nice - and he was going to go to WDW once school got out this past summer before he headed back home. I told him some stuff about it, and he was most interested in Spaceship Earth because I was doing an art project on it at the time and he kept asking me what it was.

Anyways, for Dubia - not sure what's all going to take place.
As for Adventurer's Club - I still hope it comes back in some form some time in the future.

There's one of those in the Bahamas, and that one hasn't obliterated the Orlando market.

We were talking about theme parks, which Atlantis (despite a nice little waterpark) is not. But of course, the reason you've provided that link is that the state of all those miraculous theme parks in Dubai is this:

dubailandnew7-big.jpg

The vast majority of the theme parks announced for Dubai are never getting built.

And as for weather in Dubai:

Summers (July to September) in Dubai are extremely hot and humid in Dubai. During this period temperatures can reach as high as 48°C (118°F) and humidity levels soars to 80-90%. Dust laden sandstorms locally known as 'shamal' regularly hit the city from the end of May until early July.

Yeah, that sounds like fun.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Disney didn't advertise it.

People do go to clubs. College students, conventioneers, couples with an empty nest. There were clubs for pretty much every demographic.

Why would you not go? Do you not like humour or immersive, magical experiences? You can't always go by what you read. If we all did that on this forum, no one would ever go to Universal.

I had a grand total of one alcoholic drink (Kungaloosh) on my 21st birthday. When I was underage, I bought the overpriced virgin daquiris. Yet, I fell in LOVE with the place, and there is rarely a moment that passes through the day where something happens to me or around me that reminds of that place. It can be something simple as squirrel scurrying by (the Gray Squirrel song and dance) or someone saying bye and not being to stop myself from saying Kungaloosh to them in return or someone saying hoopla and I reply HOOPLA much to their bewilderment. No other Disney Park experience compares to the immersiveness I felt and still feel at the Adventurers Club.

Get a grip. Really. It was a nightclub. Alcohol was served and girls were picked up. Tourists were made fun of. And it was New Years Eve.... again and again and again.

I had friends who worked there, i had friends who patronized the place. We came, we had our fun. We drank our drinks and enjoyed the shows.

Life goes on. Its over. You can't recapture it no matter how hard you try.

Never said it would obliterate the market. Pure hyperbole by you

Never said Atlantis was a theme park, only using it as an example of it's growing tourism boom.

Tourists are going to Dubai now, without all the planned theme parks.

The heat is not that different from Vegas. Enough said.

You might want to check with our British and European posters about that cause I don't think they are exactly staying away from Dubai.
