that patch just sold for $102. Would have looked great on the shoulder of an embroidered Adventurers Club denim jacket.

$102 is way out of my price range for a patch. I was thinking today about what would be the coolest thing to have, and I think it would be banner from above colonel. Not sure how much I'd be willing to spend for that, but it would be alot.

If it was a profitable business it would still be open. I've gone to Disney World countless times in the past 10 years and the only time it was busy was when it was closing.

It was part of a much larger entity (Pleasure Island), and Disney intentionally let said entity fail. Despite Disney's best efforts to kill all magic in DTD, the Adventurers Club and its members perservered.

Disney says guests want more gift shops and restaurants. Everyone I talk to, whether they be college students, adults, or any other demographic says, "doesn't Disney already have enough shops and restaurants?"

Nightclubs can be and are popular and a good asset to have. Disney had something special with both the Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse. Both are examples of how nightlife can be done the Disney way.

The Adventurers Club located anywhere but PI would be open somewhere at WDW this very moment. The fact that it is still open (albeit privately) should tell you something about the club's popularity with not only guests, but conventioners.

That simply isn't true...the AC was profitable and always had people...but Disney took the approach that if you kept one club you'd have to make excuses why not to keep the rest of them. From what I'm told there have been two private groups who tried to buy the club but were tld no, if it wasn't profitable why would this happen to this club, when no other club had anybody try to buy to restore it?

And while it wasn't at capacity every night, by that argument then the Magic Kingdom should be permantly closed because in late september the wait for each line is 5 minutes so nobody is there.

My wife and I just got back, and we made our special trip to PI on our first night just to go to the AC. I had not heard of it's closing. We got there, saw it was closed, and swiftly turned around and got back on the bus and headed back to the Wilderness Lodge. The AC was the only reason that we ever went to PI. It ruined our whole trip. Thanks Disney (sarcasm).

Did it really ruin your whole trip?

I mean I understand that you liked it but there is more to WDW then AC.

Did you not enjoy any other parts of WDW while you were there?

I do not understand how you could let that ruin your whole trip.

hmm . . . there is a nice bar in the Wilderness Lodge and the two of you had a room, and you were at Disney World. The night didn't have to be a total loss. ;)

or was (sarcasm) supposed to go after "It ruined our whole trip." ???

Never underestimate the disappointment of a closed Adventurers Club.
If you were a fan of the club, looking forward to it and a key feature of your trip....yeah...that could put a damper on things.

Not true on both accounts. the AC was neither profitable on many nights, nor did it always have people. Sun-Wed, it was a ghost town.

Poor analogy - the MK is larger with more foot-path space for capacity and room for profit. The AC was extremely small, therefore needed to be filled to roughly 75% capacity WITH people that drank more than one drink to break-even and make a profit.

It's a useless argument without any statistics to back either side.

That being said, I'm sure it was profitable. :p

Well, if you're looking forward to something that you've enjoyed during the past 19 years, and it's no longer there when you go, I could see how it would ruin your trip.

I know that it's closed and I don't expect to be open, and yet, I know it will definitely put a damper on my trip, and I will be disappointed no matter what.

Like Lee said, don't underestimate the impact the club had.

I am not underestimating it..I just do not think it or anything for that matter should RUIN your trip.

Unless that is the main reason you were going there then maybe..I could understand..but if you plan a trip to WDW and let the fact that one thing is closed or being refurbed ruin your trip..I just do not get that.

What is the point in going if you know that it will be closed and you still let it ruin your trip?

I mean missing it because it is not there and being sad about it I understand but to let it ruin your whole trip..makes no sense to me.

To me, losing the Adventurers Club is like losing an entire park. In fact, I would rather they close Animal Kingdom than the Adventurers Club. It was a place that I could spend hours in and enjoy every minute of it. That's how immersive and wonderfully themed it was. Unfortunately, it's closed now, but it's alive and well inside my heart and mind. I neither can nor want it out of my system.
