The fate of Star Tours?

Maybe a zootopia overlay? They could theme de outside and queue to the central train station of the movie. It would fit beautifully in Grand Avenue IMHO.

Possibly, tho I wouldn't be surprised if ST/Jedi and Muppets/Grand Avenue are already slated to be a large expansion plot for GE
Not per many insiders here. There is an expansion plot in SW:GE, but by all reports we have seen, Muppets will stay Muppets and Star tours will get new IP not star wars related

Don't get the Zootopia fans started.

Also, with John Lasseter gone, I expect less Disney·Pixar stuff to be dumped into the parks. I expect it to be there, sure, but not nearly as heavy-handed or rushed. Hopefully.

Damn, that's pretty sad since it's a pretty new attraction and a good one at that. Do you know if there's any chance that it could stay and the outside could be re-themed to match the new Star Wars land?

Ahem...it’s a really expensive version of a crappy 80’s simulator....coming soon to a mall near you...

Are you thinking of the same ride??

The main thing I’m hoping for is that, whatever the new IP, they design the new facade to fit the “Hollywood/LA cityscape” theme.

They did a really solid job with Grand Avenue and the Muppet-Vision facade changes. Extending this theme to the Star Tours replacement’s facade will mean that Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Echo Lake, and Grand Avenue becomes a continuous immersive themed environment (even if representing disparate eras) - perhaps even the largest single themed environment in Disney theme park history. Talk about allowing guests to feel transported!

They also need to do something with the Indy frontage for the complete everything-out-in-the-open-is-a-Hollywood-era theme...

20th Mid-Century Muppets

The mid-20th century theming around Echo Lake from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant to the 50’s Prime Time Café will be completed with the installation of an expanded Muppets Land called Twentieth Mid-Century Muppets in which all the building facades now nicely fit in with the 50’s L.A. theme of the area.

First, Star Tours will be rethemed to Pigs In Space featuring the animatronics of Miss Piggy and the bridge crew of the Swinetrek kicking out C-3PO and doing a Mystery Science Theater riff on bad 50’s Sci-Fi scenes on the view screen in between thrilling simulated space maneuvers.

Next, Back Lot Express becomes a full restaurant themed to the Cold War spy-thrillers of the era with plenty of secret agent gags and video vignettes of Constantine and the Muppet crew in short “Spy v. Spy”- like sketches.

We bulldoze the stunt show arena for a massive Muppet dark ride in which AAs, projections, and yes, screens, portray the various cultural trends of the Post-War Era to the late 60’s in the inimitable musical comedy spoofs which are the Muppets’ bread-and-butter.

Each room will feature a sketch and song on a mid-century trend including: Westerns with Davy Crocket and Zorro, jungle adventures with the Jungle Book and an African Queen parody, schlocky horror monsters; the Latin music craze with the Three Caballeros guest starring; the Polynesian craze with a South Pacific homage; and the rise of Disney pop culture; all featuring music from the times -- and from Fox and Disney classics -- such as: Oklahoma!, Sound of Music; Hello Dolly; Cinderella; Poppins; boy-group do-wop, Motown, and early Rock ‘n Roll!

Yes and Animation Courtyard needs a refurb as well as a total reimagining! With the Animation Class gone this area really just serves as a blase childrens area. And who was the genius that thought it was a good idea to put the Star Wars Launch Bay over there? It would have been better placed in the old Sounds Dangerous building which obviously is closer to Star Tours the rethemed Backlot Express and serving as a great preview center for the future Galaxy's Edge.

Star Tours is a great ride that really shouldn't be. It's better than the sum of its parts. It may be an expensive version of an 80s simulator, but damn, it's a really good version of an 80s simulator...

I’m thinking you haven’t been on a lot of “great” rides. Star tours is not...it’s been underwhelming since day 1.

The ride you described is Spider-Man

Version of an 80's simulator?... wasn't it actually an 80's simulator? In it's time it was awesome and in many ways still is fun. I sometimes wonder what people think is good. Spiderman was built 10 years later. Both are well done, Spiderman is, I will admit, technology advanced over Star Tours, but, really not everything needs to be the same.
