The Enchanted Tiki Room is coming to the Magic Kingdom!

The biggest problem with UNM was it was focused on kids, rather than the whole family. The other problem was the lack of quality. The original show has that level of quality - and is for the whole family, not just the kiddies.

I don't know, I think the demographic UNM was aiming for was cynical teenagers who hated having to be dragged into WDW by their parents and/or younger siblings.

Who said the Fountain wasn't coming back...? Because I'm calling BS.

The piping underneath the building was removed entirely when they designed UNM. It won't be coming back unless they reinstall new ones.

I wonder if they'll use something else instead. Like some sort of LED lit fiber optic cables to "simulate" a sort of fountain. Probably not though

I severely doubt with how long this has been shut down that they wouldn't bring the Fountain back, you cannot have the original show without the Enchanted Fountain otherwise the center of the room is a empty void as it has been for the last 13 years or so...

Well they would have to edit out the dialog where the fountain is mentioned by the birds at least. But to be fair, Disney is no stranger to downscaling attractions for the WDW parks. If the fountain were not brought back, i can't say i'd be surprised in the slightest. Disappointed yes, but definitely not surprised.

I found the thread where people were discussing a possible chance the enchanted fountain wasn't returning. It was here-
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showpost.php?p=4678788&postcount=92

Specifically-
http://voiceofthejungle.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/adventureland-update/

The blog mentioned the tiki room just a few days before WDW issued their official PR about it. Whether it's true or not remains to be seen, but it's a logical speculation. Especially considering the plumbing part. This is basically what got people talking about the possibility of the fountain not returning.

This is the kind of crap that made it ever so easy to convert to visiting DLR instead of WDW.

You would rather go to DLR than WDW because WDW will not have the fountain? I mean, yes, the fountain must have looked wonderful when it was there, but that's a stupid reason to not visit a whole resort.

Couldn't have said it better, "UNM" was the most mean-spirited and annoying attraction in WDW IMHO.

This makes the most sense. It very much makes sense to the humor they tried to squeeze in on parodying the original and other Disney park attractions. The problem is it failed at that direction just as badly and in return. Better to have a timeless show that most can appreciate the charm of.

I have heard time and time again that the fountain IS in fact returning... and until someone who is generally "in the know" says otherwise I am going to assume that the fountain will be running on the 15th.

Would LOVE clarification though from those who could do so! :) I hate to walk in there on the 15th to THAT kind of surprise.... of course if they have Plussed the effect somehow to blow me away in place of the fountain I am of course open to that...but if it is simply not there that would be a real "downer" imho

I'm not so sure about that. Recently, I was lucky enough to visit DL on a business trip, coming all the way from NJ.
Based on UNM, Stitch's travesty in Tomorrowland and other issues, including the incredible bus service, I am more likely to spend the relatively little extra $ and get the kids out to see DL for three days plus the San Diego Zoo,
3 days at Disneyland Resort plus admission
to 3 more Southern California attractions for $276.

Nice hotels are cheap out there. I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn, a beautiful good neighbor hotel that was a 10 minute walk from my room to the entrance turnstiles of DL.

CITYPASS GIVES YOU:
3-Day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper
*Edit*--This is really plenty for us die hard WDW fanatics. Much of DCA is already what we have at Disney Studios, plus they keep the DL park open earlier and later across the board.

including
Disney California Adventure Park
PLUS ADMISSION TO:
Universal Studios Hollywood
SeaWorld
San Diego Zoo
OR
San Diego Zoo Safari Park

- CityPASS is valid 14 days from day of first use

Disneyland is smaller, easier to get around in, with classic things not taken away to cheapen the offering.
The place is really incredible.
Soarin' is the same, the new Little Mermaid ride is good, but FL is getting the same one, right?

Now, coming up in Sept., I am lucky enough to be able to do one day at WDW, again in with a business trip. and by then the new Tiki room should be open.
I'll also see the new HM hitchhiking ghosts and queue effects.

With the FLE, and so much walled off, there's no way we'd be going there with the kids until that's done.

A DL trip is looking much more likely if they cheap out on the new Tiki room for the sake of a little plumbing, for crying out loud.

Mon ami, I am always ready, as you say, to put on ze show.
(wolf whistle) Oh, pardon madam, that whistle was for my good friend, Fritz.

Fritz (originally red, black, and white - voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft):
Ach du liebe! I almost fell out of my rubber (number?) perch.
Glad to see you all aboard, er, ashow, or hehehe, wherever you are!
Mien goodness, you're all schtaring at us - we better start the show rrrolling.

Michael: Wait, wait, we forgot to wake up the glee club (shrill whistle).

(birds start chirping and the room fills with the sound of singing birds)

Jose: Ole, ole it's 'cho time.

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
Jose: All the birds sing words,
Michael: And the flowers croon,
All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael:
Welcome to our tropical hideaway, you lucky people you,
If we weren't in the show starting right away, we'd be in the audience too.

All: Altogether!
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
Jose: All the birds sing words,
Michael: And the flowers croon,
All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Fritz: I sing so beautiful, I should sing solo.
Jose: Si, so low we can't HEAR you.

Pierre: My voice may not be so marvelous, but my profile is out of this world.
Michael: Jawohl, but the trouble is - it's not FAR enough out of this world.
Isn't that right Herr Schmidt? Whoo hoo!
I see Schmidt has no hair! ('Schmidt' is Wally Boag?)

Jose: Mi amigos stop the cl__________g, you sound like a bunch of old hens.
There's a lot of birds waiting to go on. For instance:

Michael: The boys in the back are called macaws.
Jose: Because of their claws?
Michael: No because they're macaws!
And our fine feathered friend is a jolly toucan,
and two can sound better than one toucan can.

(toucan hooting)

Michael:
The bird of paradise is an elegant bird,
It likes to be seen, and it loves to be heard.
Most little birdies will fly away,
But the Tiki Room birds are here everyday.

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
Jose: All the birds sing words,
Michael: And the flowers croon,
All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael:
Our show is delightful, we hope you'll agree,
We hope that is fills you with pleasure and glee,
Because if we don't make you feel like that,
We're gonna wind up on a lady's hat!

All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
Jose: All the birds sing words,
Michael: And the flowers croon,
All: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Pierre:
Our magnificent production is yet to come,
So strum the guitar, and beat the drum.
We've been a hit, and we know you adore us,
So come on and join us in another chorus!

Everyone: In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,

Michael: A little softer...

Everyone: All the birds sing words and the flowers croon,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room.

Michael: A little louder...

Everyone:
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room,
All the birds sing words and the flowers croon,
In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room!

(horns ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)

-------------------------- Offenbach interlude cut from show here...

Jose: Ah Ha! Applause! Applause! Si, that was crazy.

Pierre: Mes ami, such wonderful singing calls for applause.

Jose: Si amigos, Applause.

(gentle music starts)

Fritz: Ja ja, ja ja...

Pierre: Écoutez, écoutez, listen, listen...

Jose: I think maybe it's music...

Fritz: Ja, it's Offenbach!

Michael: You stay offa my back, and I'll stay offa your back.

Jose: Shhh... Be quiet and listen...

(Offenbach's "Barcarole" whistled by birds - horns finish tune)

-------------------------- ...to here (almost exactly 3 minutes removed)

Jose: Let's give the little birdies a great big hand.

Pierre: Qui! Applaud, applaud!

Fritz: Ja! You down there - mit both hands.

Jose:
And now señor and señoritas,
Please place yours eyes into the center, of the room that is,
We present the enchanted fountain...

Fritz:
Ack, ja, and the wunderba bird mobile.
It has birds on it, and it goes rrround and rrround.
That's why we call it a bird mobile!

Michael: Look! Here come the girls!

Pierre:
Madame and Monsieur, introducing the lovely ladies of ensemble,
Just like the Folies Bergere, with only feathers.
There's Colette, 'ello Colette, Suzette, hello Mimi, Gigi, Fifi, ah, hehehe, Josephine...

Jose: I wonder what happened to Rosita?

(birds begin to whistle)

Jose: And now, our national anthem.

Girls:
Let's all sing like the birdies sing,
Tweet, tweet tweet, tweet tweet,
Let's all sing like the birdies sing,
Sweet, sweet swee-ee-eet, sweet,
Let's all warble like nightingales,
Give your throat a treat,
Take your time from the birds,
Now you all know the words,
Tweet, tweet tweet, tweet tweet.

Jose:
Let's all sing like the birdies sing.
Bubbaboo, ba bubbaboo, baboo...

Michael:
Let's all sing like the birdies sing,
Tweet tweet tweet, my that bird sings sweetly.

Pierre:
Let's all warble like nightingales,
Ah, qui qui, est magnifique,
Take your time from ze birds,
Now you all know ze words, sing along with us...

Jose:
Now we want you people down there,
To sing along with us birds up here...
Altogether now, let's all sing like the birdies sing.

Everyone: Let's all sing like the birdies sing...

Jose: Tweet tweet tweet tweet tweet.
Everyone: Tweet, tweet tweet, tweet tweet...

Jose: Let's all sing like the birdies sing.
Everyone: Let's all sing like the birdies sing...

Jose: Sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet.
Everyone: Sweet, sweet sweet, sweet sweet...

Jose: Let's all warble like nightingales.
Everyone: Let's all warble like nightingales...

Everyone: Give your throat a treat...

Jose: Take your time from the birds.
Everyone: Take your time from the birds,
Now you all know the words,
Tweet, tweet tweet, tweet tweet.

Jose: Everybody whistle!

(everyone whistles and it gets faster, then a big orchestra finish)

Jose: Ah ha! Applause, applause, that was good.

Fritz: Wunderba, wunderba, give yourselves a hand.

Jose: A little applause for the girls, too...

Pierre: Ah, that was magnifique!

Jose: Si, no one laid an egg but me.

Michael: And now ladies and gentlemen, we have somethin' really big for you.

Fritz: Ja, the birds stand still, und the Tiki Room flies away!

Pierre:

You have good reasons, but I was just wondering why he was getting so upset over the fountain to say "I'd rather go to Disneyland".

You are taking that person's one example as if they said becuase of the fountain. Note they never said "Becuase of the lack of a big show element of The Enchanted Tiki Room I will be more likely to go to Disneyland instead of WDW". They stated that moves such as that. Meaning a common occurance of lackluster showmanship in multiple attractions and descisions lead them to want to go to one park more than the other. Which seems legimate and it is their opinion after all so it really does not matter. Not trying to sound mean but I think you should note that they said things like that, not specifically the fountain was the main deciding factor. Just one contributing to the kind of reputation that person feels WDW has gone for in recent history.

You would rather go to DLR than WDW because WDW will not have the fountain? I mean, yes, the fountain must have looked wonderful when it was there, but that's a stupid reason to not visit a whole resort.

I have a very long list as to why I visit DLR instead of WDW. So no not just because of the Enchanted fountain. Here is that list since you asked.

1. The crowd that generally goes to DLR are alot more respectful and not trying to run you over every 2 seconds so they can get everything done in 3-5 days.

2. It takes you less than 15 minutes to walk from hotel to park or to anything on the resort.

3. The attraction quality is higher.

4. The Matterhorn.

5. Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

6. World of Color.

7. Better Fantasmic.

8. Twice as long POTC.

9. More Dark rides.

10. Better Space Mountain.

11. DLR still has its Submarine Voyage.

12. Haunted Mansion Holiday

13. It's a Small World Holiday

14. Better seasonal decorations.

15. More Live entertainment.

16. More Breakfast options.

17. One of the biggest reasons on this list New Orleans Square.

18. There has been hardly anything new added to the parks in Florida worth seeing in the last decade.

and the list goes on.

While I largely agree with your list, I find it ironic that you listed "More Quality Attractions" right in front of the Matterhorn. The Matterhorn is the roughest Steel Coaster I've ever ridden. When comparing the two resorts I feel a more apt comparison between coasters is Disneyland's Matterhorn to Disney World's Space Mountain (And then Space Mountain in Disneyland to Expedition Everest). In terms of quality that's a far more apt comparison.

I dont think thats a fair list. Disney World is not meant to be just like Disneyland, your list makes it sound like you expect to find the exact same lands, attractions, shows, etc here. They are seperate resorts ran in two different ways, two different scopes. Disneyland is also older and has had more time in changing/expanding at almost 60 years, and is a boutique cozy feel. While Disney World is more expansive and younger. The powers that be do tend to run WDW on the cheap sometimes, but its still a great place to visit. Preferring Disneyland is perfectly fine, go for it, but one shouldnt come here expecting the exact same thing you get out there.
