Takes a lot of time to build something over 100 years old.
I've said before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, but I really love the new balloon skin. It matches the colours and the "feel" of the springs so much better.
Can't wait to see it in person on Sunday.
Any idea if the tunnels are still being built?
Already looks better then the awful planet Hollywood!
The tunnel has always been there. It is being worked on but it's final use is still largely unknown. It could just end up being an offstage cast area again as it was prior to the Disney springs project. The last time I saw drawings of the area (on this forum btw) the main portion of the "tunnels" was kitchen freezers and prep areas. There was a dining area that wrapped around but it seemed to be questionable at to whether or not it would remain part of the final plan.
I assume he was referring to the Neverland Tunnels which was a restaurant/bar that was supposed to be build in those tunnels.
Yes that's what I was talking about. Thank you! Fingers crossed they happen.
"Late 2017" now. LOL.
It's a freakin restaurant. They built Splash Mountain faster. And the only dip-drop this place will have is fancy ketchup.
Finding somewhere that makes a proper Sazerac in Orlando would be amazing. Usually I'll just order a bourbon Manhattan and hope for the best.
I loved seeing the new color scheme up in the sky coming down the highway and entering the property. It looked much better, even if I also liked the old one as well.
I finally got to ride this a couple of weeks ago.
Photo update as of Tuesday, April 4. In this view under the old Pleasure Island bridge, work continues on the tunnel entrance (see the green oval at the far right in the photo outlining the roof to the entrance).
In the below photo taken from the top of the bridge, the green oval outlines the same roof to the entrance.
The lakeside view of The Edison. Some serious pipework accompanies the air conditioning units on the roof. As seen in recent photos, the old bypass pedestrian bridge has been removed.
That large "garage door" looking section on the left of the building is a curious addition.

The new Disney Springs maps now say "Late 2017" for the Edison as opposed to the "Fall 2017" from he previous map. They are also still only showing one half of the build as the Edison. The other half was supposed to be Walt's but it's not clear if that is still the plan.
I don't know if anyone else posted this, but there is a basic website now: https://www.theedisonfla.com/
Also, they have posted a listing looking for a General Manager. This line suggests that what we thought was Walt's may be just part of the Edison since it indicates that there are venues inside the one space: "responsible for overall management of the nightlife venues in The Edison".
Wasn't it originally claimed as Early 2017?
We we told at one time that DS would be complete by Early Summer 2016 without qualifications. Then several projects became tagged as just "the Summer", then the Fall. Then Winter...
I've gone by it several times the past few months. It certainly seems like we're watching paint dry now.
