The Disneymooners...My Fantasy-tastic Disney Honeymoon!

Well friends, it's been about a month since my new wife and I disembarked from our 8 day honeymoon adventure to WDW and on the DCL Fantasy so I figured it was a perfect time to re-live it all for your reading enjoyment! With 500 pictures, three bags full of goodies, and countless memories, my wife and I had the time of our lives. I must say that this was the greatest way to kick off our lives together and I encourage everyone to try it...

Here are a few photos from our big day, September 14th... A lot of your wedding planning involved a Disney theme. Our showers, our wedding rehersal night as well as the wedding itself.

The wedding was fantastic and I couldn't have had a better experience if I tried. I married the love of my life and she shares the same passion for many of my interests and the biggest is an obvious one, Disney!

The planning for our wedding and honeymoon had a great assist from our(WDWMagic) fearless WDW/DCL guru, Tammy. She was instrumental in helping us plan for the honeymoon, but also helping our guests, friends and family contribute to our honeymoon, and for that Heather and I are greatly appreciative... Take a bow!! :)

After the wedding, we had to wait a long week for our honeymoon to begin. We counted the hours, minutes, and seconds to the day we were leaving, September 21st...We decided to wait a week after to get things in order for our time away and not have to leave the day after. It also allowed us to book our trip on the Fantasy and begin our "cruise career"(thanks sweetpee and hubs ;)) on the newest ship.

Many people encouraged us to fly down a night prior to the cruise in case of any misshaps and things, so we booked a night at All-Star Sports, where we stayed on our first WDW trip together, and then begin our cruise adventure the next day, Sept 22...

Sept 21st-4am was the "get up time" we decided on to get us to the airport for our 7am flight. Packing was finished the night before, so it was just a quick shower and jump in the car for the 45 minute ride to Midway Airport. We actually live 15 minutes from Chicago O'hare but Southwest flies there to Orlando and the fares were great for this time of year and no bag fees! :D We brought an extra garment bag for our suits and dresses so not paying an extra fee for the 3rd bag was good. Heather's dad got us there in no time(lead foot!). Check in and security was a breeze however the gate was at the other end of the terminal so we had to hoof it, thank God for moving walk ways...Got a bite to eat from our vacation staple food source, McDonalds and bought some water for the plane ride. He had about 25 minutes before boarding so we grabbed a seat and
relaxed...

Boarding was quick and painless buuuuut the departure was not! Details next!

We enjoyed the show and fireworks but we were just barely staying awake so right after the show, we decided to head back and call it a night. What an awesome day, St Maarten, Palo, and Pirate Night!

Next port, St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, MON!

After wiping off the drippy ice cream from my t-shirt, we hit POTC which was walk on. We took the left fork and went directly to the CM. Funny question from the CM after he saw Heather's pin, he asked "how much did you pay her to marry you" in a fine pirate drawl, I might add...To which I replied "6 bottles of rum"...He chuckled and said to her "I would have charged 12 bottles"..She chuckled! o_O Thanks mate, way to stick together, brother!..He then gave us the "love seat" at the back of the next boat...Good form!:)

Time was close for our FP+ at Jungle Cruise, but a few minutes early. Heather asked what the new system would do if you came in early, in light of the regular FP mandate of early arrivals... So to see what would occur, we went up to the line about 7-9 minutes before our start time, and it worked/let us proceed. Not sure if that will be the norm but that is what happened. We got onto the boat in no time and had a really great skipper, to which I cannot remember her name at this time...But very engaging and funny, in the campy JC way! She let a first time rider(little boy) steer us through the Asian tunnel and he was very excited to do it...Good stuff!

At about the time we got off JC, my cousin and his fiance, who were down on their first WDW vacation together, has texed me that they were headed to Epcot, where they had agreed to meet us after our dinner at Le Cellier for Illuminations. Heather wanted to maybe hit some Epcot rides before dinner and since they were headed there, we would too. We still had our FP+ time for Space Mountain left, but we had already gone in it so we forewent doing it again...

Snapped a couple more Photopass pics and with our own camera then headed to Emporium to keep a promise to my mom. This was the promise!

Glad I caught up on this - missing my Disney cruises and loving your shameless plugs! It's so true - if you haven't done it, reading a TR does NOT do it justice. GO ON A CRUISE!

And when you get back, BOOK ANOTHER ONE! :)

Sept 26th-St Thomas, USVI
After an exceptional day in St Maarten, The Fantasy made the short trip to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands...

We woke up to the ship docking at the port, so we did the normal routine and got ready and hit up Cabanas for breakfast.
We had a bus tour planned for the day and had to be down at Walt Disney Theatre 'roud 9am to meet the group.
We were at the capital city of St Thomas, Charlotte Amalie and it was a short walk down the pier to the shopping area/bus depot. The busses were open-side vans comfortable but you could smell the exhaust. There were quite a few people on the tour so we divided up and got on our way. In St Thomas, you feel like your in America except for the left side driving. About a 15 minute ride, on the east side of the island to our first stop, a small gift shop and look out...

The large island is St John...

We were there about 30 minutes and then hit the van for the next stop...During each stop, our guide would give us a short history lesson about the island...

Thank you Chris! I appreciate the sentiment...

Do it! You will not be disappointed. The whole family would love it, as would just you and Val. It's Disney but a new experience worth every penny we spent...

Next we headed over to the North side of the island to a site called Drake's seat named for British sea captain, Sir Francis Drake... He used this spot to spy on Spanish ships. This "seat" over-looked Magan's Bay, a beautiful beach area and lagoon. Our guide claims there is a house down there that Bill Clinton frequents when he is on the island..let's hope it's for the sun and fun....

After a long and winding road(dah,dah..ode to Beatles), we made our way to the World Famous Mountain Top. The highest point on St Thomas, home of the world famous Banana Daiquiri and largest gift shop I have ever been in, second only to World of Disney... Heather and I had a Daiquiri and they were damn good. They give you an extra shot of rum on top and it hit the spot...

We did some shopping and and had another daiquiri and headed back to the van for the desent back down the mountain. There was one more stop on the tour and it was at a Botanical Gardens with the same views of the northside of the island. It was very nice, but really hot and not much to see...Heather did see a dress that she bought at Mountain top for 10 bucks less at the gift shop there..She wasn't too happy...Oh well...

So we headed back to the port as the tour was over...We stopped down town Charlotte Amalie if anyone was wanting to get dropped off. There was shopping there but also some back at the dock, we decided to head back for lunch by the ship. After a bit of shopping and negotiating with the gem stores, we decided to have lunch at Senor Frogs right on the dock.....Looks like we got there just in time!!!

Da Plane! Da Plane! We actually saw this plane land earlier in the day..It looked like it was headed to St John..

We had a great time in St Thomas, definitely would return and see the rest of the island as well as St John...
We napped a bit and I monitored our laundry loads and got ready for Mickey night at Animator's Palate...
