Just about everything made here that stays here is easily made CF the problem is when products are shipped to or come from overseas some countries still have issues
Unfortunately even in countries such as the ones I live in Canada and I suppose you live in either Canada or the United States they do somewhat have to rely on products from other countries that do these things still.

I'm in the states. It's mostly companies choosing to sell elsewhere that's currently the problem:( From what I understand sourcing isn't a problem. That is leaving mica out of the conversation(an ethical problem of a different type) but synthetic is becoming much easier to come by and produced in both countries I believe.

I'm glad this thread is taking off, but ahh I'm so behind lol!
@jyn erso thnx for checking. I use a lot of elf because their entire line is safe and they're cheap so I don't mind tossing if I don't use them before they go bad. Same for Essence mascara love the green lash princess. DND is Daisy DND it's a professional nail line but also sold to consumers. I had a bit of a melt down when nail salons were closed not having done my own nails in as long as you've been alive. I'll PM you a link if you want
Elf is probably my favorite brand! Their poreless putty primer is my favorite, and I love their bite sized eyeshadows (I have the berry one). I love their brushes too! Found quite a few of those at the dollar tree- I always pick up the ones with the black handles, because the white handled ones tend to break faster.
That video was bizarre and yes, entertaining. Sometimes, I can't believe what people do with their time. ;)

Anyway, that aside, the funny thing was that after she melted down all those lipsticks and got one color -- I actually really liked the color! :joyfull:

I've rarely found a single color that works well for me. I've been blending 2 colors (one light, one darker) in similar shade groups, to achieve something that looks good. One time, my hairdresser even commented on a shade I was wearing, and I told her it was a blend of 2 colors. (I wasn't sure how that would go over with her.) However, she said, "There are no rules." In other words, mix, blend, etc., until you find a result that works best for you. (Note: She also did professional makeup for wedding parties, etc., so I respected her opinion.) :)
To be fair, she was sponsored to do it, so there was a payday involved! ;)

I really liked the color too! Although lately I've been interested in pinks and browns rather than berries. Might change with the season, though!
That hairdresser rocks! That's one of the things I love about makeup. there are really no rules! Also I love that for the most part, everyone in the makeup community is very open to different ways of doing makeup! :)
So, here's something new I heard about today -- gel makeup? (I found a description of all the different types of makeup in the attached article, if you're as confused as I was by the term.)

Of course, I still find it funny that I'm taking only 3 minutes a day now to put on any makeup, period (wearing a mask outside and all). ;) But, this is still a fun thread, regardless. :) Maybe it's the diversion we need.

Interesting! I've never heard of gel foundations, but I do love gel eyeliners!

And same on the distraction thing. Makeup is a welcome diversion for me when I get too bogged down with the news and pandemic.

I always love a good dupe . Dupe not exact rip off as in everything down to the packaging See Makeup Revolution ripping off Manny. I wish they'd stick with what they did well as in Naked dupes with "cheap" packaging so you knew it was a different product

I'll watch the videos you sent tonight! Thank you :)
:( I wish brands offered more shade options! They seem to get the middle but miss the darker tones and the fairest of tones. That’s why my next purchase will probably be Fenty, they seem much more inclusive.

the mascara I use is their Lashcraft. https://www.sephora.com/product/las...aZcrHjVot1CXdJOK3PYaAnJDEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
With Fenty releasing the cream blushes + bronzers and their sheer lip balms, I think it's only a matter of time before Fenty comes out with a tinted moisturizer or similar product. Maybe for the spring?
THNX I'm thinking about trying out Rare Beauty their shade range looks good and from the reviews is more natural than Fenty. My favorite mascara View attachment 501515 It's in @MinnieM123's price range
I have the waterproof version!! It is WATERPROOF. lol. It does not budge. Kind of a pain to get off at the end of the night!

I like the glitters from the palette. They are just awesome.

Also, the lipsticks are super hydrating and lasts long!
I've never tried Colourpop bullet lipsticks, but I really like their Lux Liquid Lipsticks! I got the entire Midnight Masquerade collection for Christmas :)
I'm glad KVD is making a comeback :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: Their eyeliner was my go to for a long time until........................ Things we won't get into in this happy thread
Yeah I used to not support KVD but I am interested in their new rose blushes! I don't mind buying from them now since she who shall not be named doesn't benefit. I think it's important to support brands that do what we ask of them.

Makeup thread?! I'm in!! I love makeup. Being a very fair-skinned natural redhead with blonde brows and lashes, if I don't wear makeup I look like a blank piece of copy paper with two blue dots (eyes).

I don't watch YT videos or follow any influencers and the most expensive brand I buy is Clinique, but I'm happy to chat with you all. 😁

I know this probably isn't the BEST advice, but I keep cosmetics longer than their shelf life. As long as they don't smell off or perform weirdly, I keep them.
Me, too. While WFH during the pandemic, I took a Sharpie and wrote the year on the bottom of each of my lipsticks so as to give me a little hint when to say goodbye

I can totally understand that. In the work that I do a good long last foundation is a must. I find that the powder foundations compared to the liquid foundations even though many of the powder ones say they last 12 hours don't last like the liquid.

I've been using a foundation I think is great, Rimmel Lasting Finish 25-Hour, it's a full coverage foundation (I have rosacea) and I buy it at CVS! I just picked up my 3rd supply, and I'm kind of annoyed that they changed it to a pump from the awesome sponge-tipped applicator wand in the cap that it had been. I know they say you lose a lot of product with a sponge, but having it attached to the cap and always being in the product alleviated that (IMO). The foundation is the same, but I'm still trying to find the right amount of pressure on the pump to give me just the right amount.

I agree with you about the wand being on the cap keeps the product within container. Second the pumps are hard to judge as I always seem to get too much which ends up wasting in the end.

I also see that you are a redhead like myself and our complexions can be tricky. At least that is what I have experienced.

Glad I found this thread, and it's timely too because I have an issue I was wondering about?
Are there any Clinique users on here?
I have been using clinique for years, and do my ordering online. Never had a problem with that.
Then they had a $10 dollar off foundation sale for a limited time. Sooo, I logged on and tried to order. When I got to the place order part, I got a white screen with BAD error up in the extreme upper left corner. Every. time. I tried. over 2 weeks!!! That had never happened before. So, I called their help line #. The lady who answered could not speak clear English and I could not understand her at all. I said I'd call back, but figured if they outsource their phone calls, then I probably couldn't understand anyone?
Soooooo, back to the drawing board, with alot of frustration.
I emailed them at least 3 times this past 10 days explaining the situation and wanting to know that I needed help with this problem.
What happened? crickets!!! No one bothered emailing back at all. the last time I emailed I said if I did not hear back within a timely manner, then that's it for me with Clinique.

Just out of curiosity, I logged on again and tried to order the Now not on sale foundation, and it let me through to the paying site!!!!
I am very frustrated with the lack of communication, and the obvious "blocking" of the sale promotion (at least it seems pretty fishy to me)
So, what does everybody think. Thanks so much.

Ugh, why is bad customer service a recurring theme with makeup companies??

I would keep nagging if I were you. Maybe they’ll give you the discount price? If you don’t want to commit to the time dump (which it might be) maybe start looking for dupes. Which foundation is it?
