We were lucky enough to have a break in the clouds last night to see the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn last night. It was pretty cool!

We watched it too. Pretty cool, but the separation was a bit more than I was expecting. I sorta expected one big glow, but there was still a distinct, but small separation between the two planets. Of course, I was looking through binoculars and a spotting scope, so that amplified the separation.

For me it is pretty simple. I came from a dirt poor upbringing. We had nothing. No, to get up to nothing we had to borrow something or it would be less than nothing.
Anyway, I remember lots of hungry days and nights as a kid. The best meals were when we visited grandad and granny or the free lunch program at school.
For us, it was mostly beans and potatoes, but every now and then, and it was not often, we would have Spam, and it was a real treat. The salty, slightly tangy texture, especially fried and served with fried potatoes, made for something special, especially when you had not had anything but beans and cornbread, or peanut butter sandwiches for awhile.
So it is sort of a nostalgia thing. These days I like to try different things with Spam, but still will have just a plain ole Spam sandwich sometimes.
We did not have much, but we had love and every now and then, some Spam, especially when they had some dented cans the grocery store marked down on sale.
And yes, when we went to Hawaii a couple of years ago I had some Spam. Grilled Spam and pineapple was good, as was Spam musubi.
Here is a Spam hash I made for breakfast awhile back.

Well Ok, not sure how I managed to post that twice. Oh, well. Now I can't find the delete option for the double post. It used to be right at the bottom. Maybe it is my browser.

Monty Python's Flying Circus:

Customer:
What have you got?

Waitress:
Well, there's egg and bacon
Egg sausage and bacon
Egg and spam
Egg, bacon and spam
Egg, bacon, sausage and spam
Spam, bacon, sausage and spam
Spam, egg, spam, spam, bacon and spam
Spam, sausage, spam, spam, spam, bacon, spam tomato and spam
Spam, spam, spam, egg and spam
Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, spam, spam, spam and spam

(Choir: Spam! Spam! Spam! Spam! Lovely Spam! Lovely Spam!)

Or Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay sauce
Served in a Provençale manner with shallots and aubergines
Garnished with truffle pâté, brandy and a fried egg on top and Spam

I remember a few times as a kid having Spam, but not often. I don't think my Mother liked it. I have always been ok with it and never understood the negativity of it. We eat things that are a lot more disgusting. Snails and Caviar come to mind immediately. I don't buy it often mostly because I never think about it, but I find it good for an occasional thing. The things I don't eat from my Childhood are clams, sardines, oysters, perch, canned salmon, blood pudding and head cheese.

We used binoculars as well. It was pretty awesome. So glad the skies cleared up as we never would have another chance in our lifetime.

I'm guessing it's an emotional thing not the excellent quality;)

There was a lot of cloud cover here. But the weatherman said that it can still be seen over the next few nights, so I might "try". Keep in mind, I'm in a small city, and there might be a bit too much interference from lights in the area.
