Who has been to National Parks, and which ones?
Also, has anyone been on a Northern Michigan park trip or even just a one spot vacay there?
I've been to quite a few. I have been to Lincoln's boyhood home....not sure if that's actually a national park, but I remember going there and seeing a replica of the cabin he grew up in, etc. I've been to Mammoth cave and the Louis and clark trail. I've been to the St Louis arch, though I don't remember much about it. I've been to Little Bighorn Battlefield many times growing up, but I think the last time I remember going there I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Chimney Rock, Scottsbluff, and POSSIBLY the homestead monument, though I'm not sure about that one. I've seen the Statue of Liberty from a boat. Badlands, Jewel cave, Wind Cave and Mount Rushmore, all many many many times. Bryce canyon and Zion national park. National mall and memorial parks (Lincoln, Washington memorials, etc). Devils Tower, Fort Laramie, the Tetons, Yellowstone...I've also been to a lot of other Forts and historical points of interest like Independence Rock, the Oregon trail wagon ruts, Sacagawea's grave, Fort Casper, Fort Bridger, Fort Fetterman....and there are probably more I don't remember. My mom was determined that we should visit significant places and learn about the history. And we went every couple of years to visit my mom's family in Illinois and we'd stop at places along the way....we did the same one year driving to Florida, and then when I was in college we drove to New York so I could sing in Carnegie Hall with one of the choirs I was in, and we went to DC. So I know I've been to a lot of places, some of which I don't remember completely. I remember touring a "mansion" somewhere of some historical figure, possibly a founding father, but I couldn't tell you whose. And we visited a lot of capitol buildings. The Lincoln boyhood home we went to, I'm not sure which one...there are several and my BEST guess is probably the one in Illinois because of my mom's family being in IL. But we also visited Mammoth Cave in Kentucky on our way to Florida, and there's also apparently a Lincoln site in Kentucky, too, and I thought we visited the Louis and Clark trail at the same time as we visited Mammoth Cave, but a google search is telling me that the Louis and Clark trail doesn't go through Kentucky, so I must have that mixed up in my brain...it was probably the same trip, but a different day. And I know we visited something in Tennessee, but I don't remember what. I also remember visiting a stage coach station somewhere, a mining museum, a fur trading post, some sod homes somewhere, and I am pretty sure we visited Fort Robinson in Nebraska, but that's apparently a State park, not national. So I've been a LOT of places. The ones in Wyoming and South Dakota I've been to several times because they are so close to where we lived, I think I've been to Yellowstone maybe 4 times, but we visited Devils Tower almost yearly, Mount Rushmore was several times a year, Badlands was whenever we drove back from Illinois, etc. Does that help you at all? I don't even know if I've actually been to Michigan.
