Next up...my mom was on my dad's computer this morning when the display went out.

I got it working again.

Unfortunately...
It's ten years old and I'm tired of having to fix it.
Seriously, we've had the thing longer than we've had Jasmine.

lol, that is my experience currently as well.
My mom's machine is .. ancient.
I think even my dad used to use that for writing for local newspapers.

My computer is completely back to normal now. I found out the problem was my computer had a Windows 10 pro update and my computer hated it. My younger brother gave my computer a Windows 10 home edition and my computer runs like its normal fast self without crashing, freezing and taking very a long time to boot and shut down.
Win 10 updates are as moody as the famous VISTA patches.
You never know what it would destroy or bug out.
And even installing clean..
it just.. refuses to work.

I hope you can get a second opinion. I DO NOT TRUST AGENCY mechanics.
My dad's car (the car I'm driving) had a total of 16 visits to the dealership because it overheated and the engine shutdown.
NOBODY in that dealership's shop cold find anything. After a few grand trying to fix that thing. I took the car to a different dealer.
Turns out there was a tiny hole in the engine water pump. And as the car got hotter... the hole expanded. Leaking fluid everywhere until it was dry.
around 500 pesos (25 USD) later and a new pump (125 USD), all was well.

It varies up here. Some auto dealers have some good mechanics, but even if you're lucky enough to get one of the better ones, their prices are higher than a regular auto repair shop. Some years ago, we found a local, independent mechanic and he does good work for less money.

As for today..

I think I'm going to be traumatized for a bit.

Good news:
My cold is on its way out.
My lungs are clean but my sinuses are not. So change of medicine!
Everything else is going ok apart from overall weakness, need to sleep AND headache for coughing.

The bad news:
This will traumatize a bit.. skip this @StarWarsGirl
After the visit to the doctor. Mom and I (I infected her, go figure..) decided to buy food as noone of us want to cook and we're tired.
So she went her way to buy something and I went the other.
The place was packed. Tons of cars moving slowly in cobblesstone roads and a lot of cars parked even in illegal places.
Well I crossed an avenue of cobblestone, as I waited for cars to stop passing.

Out of nowhere..
A tiny ginger cat came out of a parked car and walked not too fast(1 year or so of age.. was so young)
Before I could react, the cat managed to dodge one TIRE of a passing cat as the cat tried to cross the street without looking..
And then that was it.. the cat tried again to cross as the car was moving.. headlights syndrome.. froze.. tried to back down..and nope..
And jesus, that was so awful.. the darn crunch sound...
His little head was partially... you get the idea.. but that was not the worst.. the poor cat was not dead.. it was flailing with one eye out..
I just froze there.. the cat was.. just.. like mechanically flailing one beat per second.
I'm still so deep in meds that it took seconds to register.

The next driver.. a young lady walked to the cat and we both knew we could do nothing.
After I left Unsure if the lady picked up the poor cat or put it out of his misery..
When I returned to the car from getting food is when finally hit me.. x_x
Worst part is.. with all the meds I'm on me.. I think my reaction time was more than 2 seconds. I need a fraction to have pulled the tail of the cat and saved her.. but .. I couldn't.. thats how close I was when it happened.

Very sad about the cat. Sometimes things can't be avoided -- it was an accident. :(

Anyone else watching Dancing with the Stars? It's Disney night. The Disneyland scenes make me want to go back soooo badly.

I saw maybe the first hour, and then fell asleep -- hate it when that happens when I want to see a show!! Aside of all the commercials for everything under the sun Disney , I really enjoyed the musical pieces they selected for the dancers. And that opening group number was awesome! :)

This is actually a good project, in the practical sense, for the kids. We were never exposed to anything like that when I was his age in school.
When I was a kid as young as T, I would look through the Sunday NY Times. There was a magazine in it that had real estate from Sotheby’s, or some other realtor that only sold estate homes. I would stare at the pictures and read what each home had in it and be amazed. I guess that is why I enjoy seeing the concept drawings from @donaldtoo. My own father was an architect, but since my parents divorced when I was 2, we didn’t have much of a relationship sadly. I may get a little of my design bug from him though.

You made me smile with the Sotheby's reference -- nothing like reaching for the stars when you were a kid! :joyfull:

Years ago I had a boss who had multiple homes all over the world. He decided to sell one of them -- a gorgeous home in the Florida Keys -- worth millions. Yup -- Sotheby's was the agent for that sale. I'll never forget how my coworker and I had a chuckle about the advertising materials that they produced for his home -- 8 1/2 x 11" fold-out brochures with gorgeous color photos of the house, grounds, and private boat launch, etc. They also named the property an "Estate of Home and Sea". (My coworker and I had a hard time relating to any of this, as we'd compare it to our dumpy apartments we were renting, at the time!) :hilarious:

I lived in an apartment in Queens, NY, and while it was nice, it was a world away from those mansions in the magazine. My home is a pretty decent size now, but since we live in small town PA, it costs about 1/3 of the price than it would in Bethesda, MD or Long Island.

It could've been worse. You don't have to deal what my mom has to deal with my dad whenever he has to follow doctors orders of taking it easy. My dad is one of those types that likes to work something around the house and him seating around is not ideal for him.

My younger brother did tell my mom in the past that ratchet straps are needed on him when there is a medical issue or a medical exam is done:jawdrop:.

I remember years ago that mom had to deal with my dad after a colonoscopy. What happened was he was supposed to go home and take it easy for the day with my mom taking care of him, but he wanted to go shopping right away after a colonoscopy and was caught with a knife at home while trying to make a meal:rolleyes:.

Currently he does not need any medical procedures done and that means my mom does not deal with him being a bad patient.
Sorry, but I am not at all understanding your post, especially about the colonoscopy. I have had a number of them and I have always just returned to my regular life after the procedure. What is the big deal about the shopping or the knife? Was he acting out or just make a meal using the knife? I'm completely confused. One thing I can tell you is after a person has had that procedure, the only thought is "where the hell is the food". I could have eaten the north end out of a south bound skunk at that point.

Everyone has a different reaction to the "twilight" medicine they use to put you under... me, I went home and slept 15 hours.

Tell him to take #1!

It’s the best value! #4 and 5 were his faves.. ended up going with 4 after all of the comparisons of pros and cons.

yeah it was a combo of math and decision making. He is loving school this year.. not that he disliked it before, but his teachers this year are really great about working real life scenarios into the majority of their assignments. The teachers also don’t believe in a lot of homework, most days he doesn’t have any written work, or they get a fun at home STEM project assignment (they do have online math, studying, and reading every night)... and I couldn’t believe this- they’re not even doing AR tests this year! They break up in groups of 4, agree on a book to read, and then write a small report (individually) after they finish, added to a book-club-like discussion. The groups have to agree on what book they read that week..each one has to make their case for why they chose that one, and get the group to go along.

The big project this Spring is an entrepreneurship fair.. each kid has to come up with a product, make the product, have a business plan including marketing campaign, and sell it in their homemade booth.

I was really nervous about 4th grade, but so far it’s been my favorite year! Hoping that 2nd semester doesn’t drastically change, this one has been fine.. I had heard so many horror stories about 4th grade!

Maybe that is why. I don't get put under. I watch the entire procedure on the TV, beginning to, pardon the expression, end. It fascinates me. I know how good looking I am on the outside, so now I am curious about what is inside as well. I just spent the last couple of days looking at 300 MRI images of my spine. It's quite nice, in case anyone was wondering!

Sounds like the teacher is really making the school year fun, so the kids are enjoying actual real life learning. School shouldn’t be just about learning to take a test.

agree. His hometown teacher, who is also his math and science teacher., is new this year. Absolutely phenomenal imo. She makes it so fun for them. They have a “VIP” table where 4 kids per week get to sit per week, based not just on their grades, they have to go above and beyond in being helpful and kind. It’s a combination.
T is also ways coming home with a treat.. they earn tickets throughout the week, and get to pick out of a prize box while blindfolded on each Friday if they earned enough tickets.. which box depends on how many tickets you get.

She definitely knows how to get the kids interested in being at school, and extra motivation to excel, all while having fun and not being bogged down with busy work. She’s young, only been teaching 6 years, so I don’t know if her style is something new that’s being adapted by younger teachers.. but I will say that the other 4th grade teachers have adapted a lot of her plans as well.

My daughter and I are reading @dryerlintfan trip report bit by bit in the car reading it aloud while doing odds and ends.

Nothing is better than living the Disney dream than through the eyes of a preschooler. We are about half way through. I can’t wait for 2 years to see “A’s” IQ. THAT YOUNG WOMAN HAS HER ACT TOGETHER AND MIGHTY BRAIN POWER HAPPENING. Never met her but I am a fan.

She sure keeps me on my toes!! She haggles everything, and lies, and keeps secrets and it's alllllll meant to be signs of intelligence but man, it's hard parenting the cunning ones!

I can’t believe I forgot to post this from today!

I thought of @dryerlintfan and @Tuvalu when I saw this! (I asked permission to take the picture because I don’t know these kids!)

Wow, that's MASSIVE! I could never get one of those. A won't eat cotton candy, so it would be just E. I could help her eat it, but that's too much, even for both of us. How many does this feed? 10? It's awesome though!

That would feed one of me LOL... just one... just me.... not sharing!!
