But what happens when the battery is dead on the fob? That's the question we are really getting at here.
You need to have backup batteries which I didn't and was getting very frustrated with my jeep!! I will always keep spare ones around now. The originals lasted 3 years. If it is another problem with your fob, you would probably have to replace it. Those are hundreds to replace.

I actually have the answer. In your glove compartment there is a small slot. You put the whole key fob in there and then start the car as you normally do by putting your foot on the break and pushing the start. Here is a picture of mine. I was able to test this because one of our fobs is actually dead. :angelic:View attachment 378818
You’re welcome!🙂
hmmm I don't remember seeing that in the trax, but now I'll have to look next time I go out there.

ETA: I just googled it instead, and indeed I just put my fob in the front drink holder.

I have batteries here for our fob. Just haven’t gotten around to replacing it. I still have one that works.

OMG . . . those two articles. Yikes! :jawdrop:

Yea, I Googled fully expecting to confirm that the keyless entry and push-button start was also much more theft-proof, and had therefore led to some lowering of insurance rates for those models.
But, as per usual, it doesn't seem like the continual battle of trying to stay one step ahead of the thieves will end anytime soon.
Unfortunately, even in this day and age, if somebody wants somethin' bad enough, their gonna' find a way to get it, legally, or otherwise. :(

My car has keyless entry and keyless start, but it does have a spot to insert the key in the door. We have had to change batteries in our key fob once because we got notified by the cars computer that the battery was low.

Yea, I'm currently still drivin' that '03 Malibu.
I'll find out the battery in the fob is low or dead one mornin' when I go out to the car and it won't open the doors.
Then, "Hello old-school key!"
Other than power locks and windows, the fob is about the only other "bells and whistles" that car has...!!!!! :hilarious: ;) :)

We still have 5 pets and we are done with getting more dogs. If a stray cat comes to us, we will keep it, but we won't go out of our way to purposely get one. Dh says that when we are older that we shouldn't get more pets because what happens when your pet outlives you? There are many pets in the animal shelter that are there because of that. It is sad. He told me this crazy story. A lady put in her will that when she passed she wanted her dog put down. :( She didn't will it to someone. I have no clue why anyone would do this. Anyway she did end up passing before the dog. The dog was brought to the vet (a healthy dog) and was euthanized. I call that murder.

Yea, putting down a healthy pet like that is just nutty, IMHO.
When Zeke, my folks Toy Fox Terrier, passed several years ago they decided to not get another dog. Mom said she just couldn't take the pain of losing them anymore. He went with them almost every time they took a long road trip, and they loved that pup.
But, so far, they haven't gotten another pup, and, at this point, chances are pretty slim they will.
On the other hand, it looks like we'll always have at least 2 large pups around for the foreseeable future...!!!!! 🐶 🐶 :D :hilarious: ;) :)

I spoke to the head of the cheer program yesterday. She was so angered by what had happened and glad that I told her. She also told me that I was not the only parent to have contacted her. Apparently someone else had done the same thing and then texted it to a bunch of people. One of those people probably got angry and told her as well. So at the meeting last night at the gym, the president of the cheer parent board brought up the whole picture taking thing of the sign up roster and then conveniently matching the kids numbers with the ones on the results list. I don't think any of those moms expected him to bring such a thing up. His wife looked angry. She is in with the group that partook in this "scandal". He didn't care. He thinks those women are ridiculous. Anyway he said that whoever did that better go and find the cheer program coach as well as the gym owner and talk to them before they find them, because they knew who did. My friend said that one of the moms was just laughing. I saw this other one look down nervously. I texted my friend who works in the gym office this morning that they need to have a Youtube show. It can be quite entertaining to watch these women behave irrationally. They were also upset that their girls got separated into different age levels from their friends. They said "Oh, it is too early to discuss team placement." One who complained about team placement had her kid out for 2 months due to some sort of injury that the coach could never corroborate. There was no doctor note. This other one said she was sad and being empathetic with her daughter that she wouldn't be on a team with her friends. These people need to get a grip. I am so glad I told.
