Yep, totally agree on no Plan B being available for backup.
I was thinkin’ it might also have to do with making car theft more difficult and also maybe bringing down insurance rates based on such, then I found these 2 articles...

No broken windows. No lengthy process of wedging the door open. No hotwiring, no alarm, no concerned passerby dialing 911....www.thezebra.com
I made a few phone calls and found another window at a local salvage yard. We paid for it, pulled it outta’ the car at the salvage yard, and installed it ourselves in my car that afternoon.
Good times...!!!!!
There's an actual key for backup. It's in the fob. For my car, if the fob is low on battery or out of battery, you just put the key up to the button and it starts. Thankfully I haven't had to test that yet. For my dad's, for some reason you drop it in the center console and it picks it up. He did end up with a dead battery in the fob and still made it home.
What was worse was when I was in college and had my old car, and the battery went dead, and the idiot AAA guy broke the ignition. And the windows were stuck down. We had to leave it there in the middle of a snowstorm. I posted about it on this thread when it happened; it was quite the saga. Thankfully I don't need to worry about that anymore. Like I said, now that I have keyless entry, I don't miss the regular key in ignition thing at all.
I actually had my batteries run low in both remotes. It does work holding to the button! We had replaced the batteries with a cheap brand and couldn’t figure out why my jeep wouldn’t start remotely. We changed to energizer batteries and started right up.There's an actual key for backup. It's in the fob. I have a Honda, but my parents have Buicks and you can evidently drop it in the console and it'll pick it up. Check your car's manual. I would think that it's be the same since they're GM vehicles.hmmm I wonder if mine is like that too... is yours a chevy? When the sales man showed me the hidden key in the fob... I said, great.. now I can get into the car, but I still can't start it if the fob is dead! He seemed perplexed by that too and didn't have an answer.
I really miss Chloe. She was my little buddy. But, we still don’t know when we will get another cat. We are getting closer to retirement age and do a lot of traveling. His parents used to come check on her when we were gone. But with their aging and her breaking her hip last year, it’s just too hard for them to come over. We have neighbors but I don’t know if I would trust them to feed a pet every day. So, we may just not get another or wait until we are older. It was awful when we made that decision for Moxie (our tabby). We were also cat-less for a year before getting Belle. Never again. It was awful not having cats. I'll always have them.
I have to try this sometime. It always looks so good!Tangerine brown rice View attachment 378212

My car has keyless entry and keyless start, but it does have a spot to insert the key in the door. We have had to change batteries in our key fob once because we got notified by the cars computer that the battery was low.Yep, totally agree on no Plan B being available for backup.

Thanks. I am waiting to hear from the crematory when I can get her ashes. He was so respectful and he made sure she had a soft blanket to lay on.The passing of a fur family member is always so difficult. I'm so so so sorry for your loss ❤❤
I love that. Thank you.

We still have 5 pets and we are done with getting more dogs. If a stray cat comes to us, we will keep it, but we won't go out of our way to purposely get one. Dh says that when we are older that we shouldn't get more pets because what happens when your pet outlives you? There are many pets in the animal shelter that are there because of that. It is sad. He told me this crazy story. A lady put in her will that when she passed she wanted her dog put down. She didn't will it to someone. I have no clue why anyone would do this. Anyway she did end up passing before the dog. The dog was brought to the vet (a healthy dog) and was euthanized. I call that murder.I really miss Chloe. She was my little buddy. I actually have the answer. In your glove compartment there is a small slot. You put the whole key fob in there and then start the car as you normally do by putting your foot on the break and pushing the start. Here is a picture of mine. I was able to test this because one of our fobs is actually dead. But what happens when the battery is dead on the fob? That's the question we are really getting at here.
Ohhh that is so sad!! I would put pets in my will but have someone that is willing to take it like my DD. I could not have it put down on purpose. That is so selfish. And just plain awful! We still have 5 pets and we are done with getting more dogs. If a stray cat comes to us, we will keep it, but we won't go out of our way to purposely get one.
