Our stop on the monorail was the California Grill. We had a nice dinner in the Monterrey Room that overlooked Bay Lake and Epcot in the distance. That was a nice switch from the castle view.

Beer for me, red wine for my friend (I think it was Malbec)

A short rib appetizer, delicious!

My friend's main dish was a ramp spaghetti with seafood things in it. She loved it.IMG_2820.JPG

I had the oak fillet with truffled mashed potatoes. This was so good it actually gave me goosebumps after my first couple bites.

And dessert, the warm chocolate cake with some press pot coffee.

Then fireworks!

I finally have all my pictures loaded onto the computer and I'll share some of the Disney ones now.

It was time to leave Maderia Beach and head to Orlando, so of course the Magic Bands went on.

We dropped off the car at the airport and took the Magical Express to the Coronado. I was nervous about the construction, especially for my friend, but we weren't really bothered by it at all. And we were in Casitas #1 so we had a refurbished room, it was really nice.

Check out the huge TV! I had to introduce my friend to Stacey. My friend was not as impressed as I am.

The last time we stayed at the Coronado was in 2006, in fact on this day in 2006 we were there. We stayed in the Cabanas section which was nice but reminded me of the Caribbean. I was really impressed by the Casistas and actually the Ranchos section, the theme was really unique. No wonder @JenniferS likes this resort.

That's a very nice looking resort. I've never been there before. The refurb of the room looks great!

Hahaaa...!
With me it was Frito-Lay corn chips...!!!!! :hungry:
My best friend in junior high ate corn chips with every single sack lunch he ever brought to school. One day he wasn't feeling very well at lunch and asked if I wanted his corn chips...yea, took those in a heartbeat, and happened to have a tuna sandwich that day...got inspired, took the top bread off, dumped about half the bag on it, and...EUREKA...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious::hungry:;):)

Yes! Great minds and all . . . ;)

@ajrwdwgirl -- have you seen the Coronado Springs Expansion thread up in N&R? (I never noticed it before, but just looked at the most current page (p.23) -- and WDWtraveler posted some very good pictures of the new construction going on there, as of yesterday. Thought you might be interested to take a look at the thread.

I don’t often venture to N&R but I’ll take a look later. That would be interesting to see the pictures, thanks.

Prednisone is a miracle drug that can be used to treat many things. My wife has to take it occasionally to help treat her asthma. Be careful though while taking it as it lowers your immune system.

I'm more worried about the spiking of blood sugar. I had gestational diabetes and that was not fun, so it would be great if this didn't lead to anything like that. It's only six days of it though so it shouldn't be a huge deal.

For @dryerlintfan @21stamps that's as close to a camping cabin that I'm willing to go to;)

Wow that is a legit Disney gift store! I wish they would have shown the sundries section though so I knew what I needed to pack food wise :hilarious::hilarious:

I laughed at the comment about it being the worst tasting drug ever. Yeah, sounds about right...before I stopped eating yogurt, I used to hide it in a spoonful of yogurt. It really helps minimize the taste. Now I just put it as far back in my mouth as I can stand it and swallow something flavored. Taking it with water makes it worse.

Don't expect to sleep well tonight. It really makes you restless. Glad your shoulder is starting to feel better, Prednisone is wonderful stuff

I slept okay. Definitely felt warmer than I usually do, but I turned on a fan. All in all, so far I've been lucky with side effects *knock on wood*

We saw The Incredibles 2 this afternoon. Very entertaining for all ages. Anyone on this forum agree or disagree?

I saw it this past weekend and thought it was meh. There were some cute/funny parts, but definitely not one that captured my attention or my three year old daughter's. It just felt.... predictable. So cute but predictable. I thought they could have done better.

Yes, it seemed like the Incredibles film had been introduced by the vocal actors and was beginning....but no....it was a short film instead. There was a boy at the theater that said during that short film : "Dad, where ARE. The Incredibles?"

They should definitely have flipped the short with the actor's introductions! And cut down on maybe 20 minutes of the previews, lol

I got my bag back, it was sitting in Southwest's office just waiting and looking lonely waiting for me. I think it had quite the adventure. Southwest told me it was on the plane to St. Louis but the tag taped onto says Midway (Chicago). Southwest also gave me a travel voucher for a decent amount which I didn't ask for or expect really, so I plan to use that towards my trip to Anaheim in 2019 for D23 Expo.
Oh that's so nice that they gave you a voucher! I know they lost the luggage, but with the re-routing, it does happen. On our first family trip to Orlando, in 2010, our flight back home was delayed by 7 hours. We were supposed to leave at 5pm, and international flights, checkin was 3 hours early. So we had to be there at 2 and we had to sit in the line for HOURS before they finally told us we were delayed until Midnight. They gave us each a $15 dinner voucher for the airport, and that was the extent of the compensation we got. Because we were delayed so long, we missed our connection in Amsterdam...we had flown out of Dusseldorf, Germany because it's about equal distance as Amsterdam, and it was cheaper. When we landed in Amsterdam, we were told that they didn't have any other flights going to Dusseldorf to put us on, and there were about 30 people on our flight who were going there and had missed their connections. So they chartered a bus for us instead of setting up a new flight or trying to get us on existing flights.

We were to pick up our luggage from carousel 20 and then we'd get on the bus....no time to eat anything, we couldn't stop....just get your luggage and go. Then the luggage never came..they told us they had changed the carousel....so we were led to a different one and everything came out except one of our carseats. (It's illegal not to have your child in a carseat in Germany, so without it, we couldn't get home) We spent an hour and a half waiting for the carseat...everyone was on the bus waiting for us. They had told us we couldn't stop for food, we'd be given sandwiches on the bus. We were finally told we couldn't wait any longer, we needed to board the bus, they lost the carseat. We get on the bus, starving and exhausted...they had distributed the food while we were waiting for the carseat and had given our share out among the people on the bus, so there was nothing left for us. They had broken the clasp on one of the suitcases, and we were facing the prospect of not being able to get home because of the missing carseat. We were very fortunate that we went within about 15 minutes of my in-laws' house in getting to Dusseldorf, so we asked the driver to let the kids off the bus at a gas station where my in-laws could pick them up, as they had carseats, and that way at least the KIDS could be fed as it was now 7pm Dutch time and we hadn't eaten in about 16 hours, and it was another 3 hours to Dusseldorf by bus.

We ended up putting in a claim for compensation because I guess the law says that if your flight is delayed more than 5 hours when the flight is more than 1500 miles, they are required to give you a portion of the costs back, and of course we wanted compensation for the suitcase that was broken, not to mention that we paid for a FLIGHT to Dusseldorf, not a bus ride, but they denied our claim. We got NOTHING. Not a cent. I don't even understand how they could get away with that. They should have at least had to pay for the suitcase.
We ended up getting the carseat back. We called when we got home and they told us it was in Dusseldorf, we could come pick it up. DH told them they had a couple of options. 1, they could buy us a new carseat. 2, they could ship the carseat to us at their expense, since they lost it. 3, they could compensate him for his time lost on his job because he had to go and pick it up from them, and as an engineer, they charge 100 euros an hour for his time, and it's a 2 hour drive each way. So he'd have to take 4 hours off of work to go pick it up. Their choice. They shipped it to us. Worst customer service EVER, though...no compensation for the loss of the one flight, no food or drink, no time to stop and GET food, loss of luggage, broken luggage, and they wanted us to come pick up the thing they lost? We won't fly KLM ever again. Too bad we didn't know about twitter then, or have smartphones to use it. Nowadays, a couple of tweets would shame them into doing something about it.

Not a fan of the new construction. I don't like Disney's obsession with building up when they have plenty of space to build out. For me it ruins the whole aesthetic of one of our favourite resorts.

I can't like most of that! Our kids in elementary school do invitations as part of their art classes, which I do like but parents only? Are they that short on space? Most of our functions involving food are pot luck which can be fun and we get a wide range of food:joyfull: I don't get the cancelling of a tradition at all:grumpy:
Pot Luck doesn't exist in the Netherlands. They call that an "American Party" and that wouldn't be done here for a celebration to honor a group of people...you don't make the honorees do the work. "Here kids....you've worked your tails off....but we can't be bothered with throwing a REAL party, so here...honor yourselves by providing your own food". It's just bad form. Imagine your kid graduating from high school and they say "Yeah...it's just too much work to have a real graduation ceremony....so here's the time you can come pick up your diploma and say goodbye to your fellow classmates and your teachers. If you want any cake or anything, bring it yourself."

And yes, they are that short on space. They made the school WAY too small....they didn't have enough classrooms. They had classes being held above the swimming pool next door because they ran out of classrooms. There is no hall or auditorium, or anywhere to accommodate a large number of people. It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to be SO glad to be done with this school.
