Today we got the kid a haircut. It's her second one, but it went much better than her first one a year ago. She's told the hairdresser she needed Rapunzel hair to match her dress so she braided it and put sparkles in it. The rest of the day was spent convincing people it wasn't her birthday and this was just her everyday attire:hilarious:

@ajrwdwgirl , I googled "SKOL"....it said it is Scandinavian for bowl or hello.
Does this mean the Vikings will say HELLO to the super BOWL?????

Maybe, I don't want to be too confident yet. It would be awesome for many reasons, but especially since Minneapolis is hosting the Super Bowl. That would make it exceptionally exciting.

Skol is the cheering phrase used by the Vikings, I guess I never knew the real meaning of it.

Holy Cow! What a win by my Vikings! SKOL!
Watched the last quarter of that game. Dh was very bummed the Steeler’s lost. :(He was hoping the Vikings would win at least, so was even more bummed when the Saints got the field goal. :eek:There was I think 10 seconds left and they were on their last down and dh said he may as well just turn off the tv. I said not to. My words were, “maybe something exciting will happen. “. ;)Then BOOM. Amazing catch and run for a touchdown. He had to sit after that. He couldn’t believe it. I said, “I told you so.”;)

So I went back to the article and read a bit more.
Many centuries ago, the real Vikings would invade and defeat various cities, groups of people....what have you.
Then.....they would behead the king or leader of those people. His head would be carved out and used as a bowl....a bowl from which they would drink from :eek::eek::eek::eek:
Lovely, huh????

I always thought Scandinavians said skol when they drink, so I always assumed it was like when we say “cheers.”

I was watching by peeking over my laptop and disappointed in the Saints comeback. I was hopeful that something exciting might happen in the end but it is the Vikings and they have a history of choking so it was amazing to watch those last ten seconds. And your husband should know to listen to you...women are always correct!;):)

I have heard the story about drinking from skulls before and that being the origin of the Skol chant. It doesn't sound too great to me, but I guess it might have appealed to my heathen forebearers.

I always took it as a cheers type of shout for joy too.

Well the Vikings attacked the UK often enough, so some heads were lost, but a word was gained. :p

I do kind of miss being able to be spontaneous about WHERE we wanted to eat meals, but I just use ADRs and and FPs as a sort of outline. I have those things set and then we know what part of which park we'll be in when. I tend not to park hop a whole lot...we make ADRs for the park we are in or in a resort nearby that park...like, we did 'Ohana after a waterpark day when we had FPs in the evening for Epcot. That way we didn't have to go back and forth. But when we spent the whole day in Epcot, that was the day we did Akershus. So we plan in advance for that, because I would do that anyway....otherwise I get a bit of anxiety. I am so not a fly by the seat of my pants girl.

I've adjusted to the FP+ and the ADRs but I liked it how it was originally before all that. When the day of you could make an ADR for what you were in the mood for. If the kid was tired and we planned in our minds to do a sit down dinner we'd do it another night instead of booking an ADR that day. If it was just hot out I wouldn't book LeCellier but go for fish at Coral. Stuff like that. I didn't have to cancel at least 24 hours in advance cause they could only be booked hours in advance. Now I go to some of our ADR and I can wait a very long time to be seated at some restaurants and with good planning for FP+ scrambling to either eat quickly or loose a FP+ I just don't believe Disney does a very good job at keeping to ADR times. We had long waits at BoG, PrimeTime, SciFi and the worst was Garden Grill over an hour. We've had that with FP+ too on some attractions like Test Track, Dwarf and Space Mountain along with Flight of Passage. Some of these attractions are anything but FAST though in fairness a few do it well. Even when the lines were long before any type of FP the lines just continued to move.

Because I was a single buyer and a woman they scrutinized my spending a lot more than with couples..
It wasn't until the mid 1970s when the Equal Credit Opportunity Act became law that women were allowed to be 'considered' for a credit card in their name. The Doc that brought me into the world and was my Doc for 20+ years could not have a credit card in her name prior. Even when the Act passed so many woman were denied. I remember when my Mom got her first Credit Card in her own name I was in Junior High. So your post doesn't really surprise me at all unfortunately.
