Today we got the kid a haircut. It's her second one, but it went much better than her first one a year ago. She's told the hairdresser she needed Rapunzel hair to match her dress so she braided it and put sparkles in it. The rest of the day was spent convincing people it wasn't her birthday and this was just her everyday attire:hilarious:

Awesome. She looks so pretty!

It's not easy to leave a home. Sometimes, we just have to move on in life, but it's not always pleasant. I'm glad you're in a better place now (I don't just mean where you live, but just your life in general). And I'm also glad to hear that you're doing well after your recent eye surgery.

Anyway, after reading your compelling story, I said I wasn't going to do this--but--I Google mapped my childhood home to see how the new owners had changed it. (I haven't been there in over 30 years, as my parents passed away a long time ago, and the house was sold.) So, I just pulled it up on the view, and it didn't look too much different; but all the emotions of the years I lived there with my family, and all my little pals on the street, just hit me like a ton of bricks. Yup, there's wisdom in the saying. you can never go home again. And not only that, I saw at the bottom of the street a new side street? What used to be miles of woods behind our home (where we'd play quite often) is all streets and houses now. Glad I'm gone.

Soooo understand. My Mom still owns the home that we for the most part grew up in, we left the first house when I was almost 7 years old. We lived next to my Grans house which was a 2 flat and my Aunt lived with Gran and my Uncle and his family lived above in that flat. My Gran passed when I was 16 and I never went back again even though we moved many years before she passed our house still looked the same. I have it etched in my head with memories.

I love how A is standing there like a real Princess! Does she do the royal wave yet?

It wasn't until the mid 1970s when the Equal Credit Opportunity Act became law that women were allowed to be 'considered' for a credit card in their name. The Doc that brought me into the world and was my Doc for 20+ years could not have a credit card in her name prior. Even when the Act passed so many woman were denied. I remember when my Mom got her first Credit Card in her own name I was in Junior High. So your post doesn't really surprise me at all unfortunately.

Adding to your post above to RedNoseMickey, many years ago, my mother had to get my father to co-sign on the application for my mother to get a department store credit card . . .
