I had a half dead bat fall on my dinner plate once. I freaked out a bit but not too much. It's beady little eyes were just staring at me. I still kick myself for not taking a picture before our guide threw it in the river. Now if it had been a snake...:grumpy:

I am going to write out some more Christmas cards today. I don't get that many cards anymore, but I still like to mail some out to friends and family that I don't see during the year. I guess lots of people have given up the tradition/practice of Christmas cards. Stamps are more costly, but people spend lots more money on other holiday things.

We send out around 150 cards a year, so we stopped hand writing them.

Nice!! I'd love to have a good camera like that, but there are so many things I would love to have...a kitchen aid mixer...also around $600+. When I win millions in the lottery, I'll buy all those little things I've been wanting. Good for you for jumping on it while you had the chance!
My mom has a kitchen aid mixer she found at Macy's on a really great deal. That thing is fantastic. Really heavy, but fantastic. She bought it years ago, and you cannot even tell.

I always look for deals on stuff I want, so when I saw it for $250 off...wowza. I rarely pay full price for anything; I always wait and look for deals. Plus I don't have very many expenses right now, so it makes sense. I'm so excited. :D

Mine comes with the 75-300 mm lens. It was $400 for just the camera or $500 for the extra lens and the carrying case. Needless to say, I went the $500 route.
Seems like a good combo.
I honestly would have preferred the 24-105mm F4 lens. better quality. And you could have purchased a 70-300mm for the longer range when you need it with also much better quality.

booo! I'm in the nikon camp :hilarious:
Ha. My mom has a canon, so I stuck with that. :P

Here is the history behind that:

My mom, back when she was working (so before I was born, we're talking 25+ years ago) was using a company camera on an assignment. She loved it, but couldn't swing for her own.

Then, her coworker got a Canon EOS rebel when they came out. My mom borrowed it, then went out to buy her own.

That thing lasted until 2009. She went out and bought the latest EOS rebel.

Which is then what I've been known to borrow (and what I took on my California trip). So hence, I was destined to get an EOS rebel.

We send out photo cards. I send about 20 and hubs sends out about 20.

I made chocolate mint cookies (a mint chocolate kiss is inside)
Noel nut ball cookies (a Martha Stewart's recipe), and ritz cracker "cookies" (they are filled with peanut butter and covered in chocolate. I remember now why I hate dipping things in chocolate, I'm not good at it and they look a little weird but they taste good. I also made some cheddar cheese tartlets that we eat on Christmas Eve, so I make them ahead and freeze them up. No pictures of those right now.

Good cameras. I downsized from one to an EOS-M mirrorless.

What do you do when it snows?
You mean to get DS home? Same as every other day. It doesn't snow here much. If it gets TOO bad, we'll call my DH and he can come home and pick DS up, OR we can call a taxi for that one time. But other than that, it's bicycle. It's only a few miles, so it's not too bad. The worst thing the other day was we had bad timing and the draw bridge was up to let a boat through, so we had to wait and the rain was really coming down. Then as soon as we finally got over the bridge, the rain turned to sleet and that's what was stinging so badly. That's why we took cover.
