Hahaaa...!!!!! :hilarious: ;) :)
Speaking of vacations, we cancelled our Key West trip for this coming December. We actually cancelled it way before we even knew a certain storm would tear up the whole place, 'cause a 7-day Carnival cruise was actually much less expensive. Plus, DWifey and I have never been on a cruise before...!!! ;)
Heck, the last time we were on a vacation that lasted a week was back in June of '13 for our family WDW trip. The only other ones we took were to Port Aransas for a coupla' days, and the Princess 5K back in Feb. of last year.
Not complaining, but, that was one whirlwind trip...we flew in on a Wednesday night, did the 5K between a coupla' Park days, and flew out on Saturday afternoon. I'm pretty sure that doesn't koala-fy :hilarious: as a real vacation...?!
Maybe, just a break...?! o_O

;)

What fun ports will your cruise go to? Will you have a veranda? I hope you have a great time, you all deserve a fun trip!

Sending lots of {{HUGS}}, a couple of margaritas and prayers and pixie dust. One would think they would have had that spelled out by now, that's so unfair to you and the kids. I hope they get their act together soon xoxo
Thanks, I'm seeing no one wanting to talk to each other. We feel caught in the middle, maybe by next year this will be behind us. I feel sorry for the boy's. It's been weeks since we have spent time with them. They are really busy with school activites and homework. We will see them in a couple weeks, we will be able to see how everyone is doing, minus son-in-law.

@betty rose the good thing about changing the clocks this weekend is that you will wind up one hour closer to cruise time:joyfull:
Thanks, I love that. We have changed our cruise already. We are on the same ship, but one week later....it's stopping in Puerto Rico, yea! So this is probably our last cruise, but I'm never sure. After the next two trips on United airlines, hubby will have logged a million miles traveling with them. He doesn't like change!

We're celebrating my dh's birthday tomorrow night and the boys want to make him stuffed peppers and a cake:joyfull: I just deep cleaned my kitchen:banghead:
Happy Birthday to your hubby, I'm never sure if I will be on line during the week-end, we are both working on the house to downsize. It will be busy, we are going out with daughter, and her new boy friend for brunch on Sunday. I'm wearing my new wig, and am going to convince my daughter that I got my hair done, on the ship!

Didn't you do first class flights this time on your trip? How did you like that?

I loved first class, but much too expensive. Lot's of leg room, and the breakfast was okay. Everything had milk or cheese . Like, @figmentfan 423, it's hard to find food without stuff like lactose, milk, etc. I wish more food manufacture's would think about alternatives. I did get very mushy fruit. @Mr Ferret 88 food looked so much nicer. United has a long way to go, to catch up with other air lines. Just my opinion.

At least one poster liked it:) (reflecting back on my joke....post # 131002)
Thank you figmentfan423 !
BTW....I would like to quickly confess that I composed and edited my earlier joke on my laptop. The joke's length seemed tolerable....but just now I was using my phone for a text.....I checked the thread on my phone.....oooopps....my joke was a mile long when viewed it on my cell phone. Sorry.

When there is a dietary issue and a meal is served all airlines will make accommodations. They vary on how much notice they need usually a few days. United when it merged with Continental inherited their Food Company Chelsea. Until a couple years ago Sky Chef was Denvers provider but now Chelsea. Chelsea supplies food to many of their competitors also including at some hubs American, Frontier and JetStar and many international carriers. United now uses LGS-Sky Chef that is owned by Lufthansa that they bought from American Airlines. Our United in Chicago switched about the same time as yours from Gate to SkyChef. When I worked at Ohare in my more youthful days United employees actually prepared the meals. A friend of mine was management when they shut it down. So much has changed in commercial airline travel over the decades. Me I like SouthWest the best.

Yes, as is true with any serve/help yourself food situation.
Everything from family gatherings, to the happy hour buffet at your local bar, to numbers upon numbers of giant all you can/care-to-eat serve yourself buffet (yes, I know you don't care for buffets ;)) places everywhere. It's just a simple, complimentary nacho bar. For those who may just be there for a drink and a snack, or like us, just having a little sustenance ;) while waiting for a table, etc. We love the idea! :hungry:
And yes, we also get the chips, salsas, and queso brought to us at our table by our server from the kitchen...!!!!! :joyfull: :D  ;) :)

And we must take ME into account. The self CONFESSED GERM-a-phobic. You would have a laugh attack watching Me and Mine when someone in public sneezes, coughs etc....as we all immediately dart. And we are the Family that if we have someone ill behind us at Disney or elsewhere that lets steps out of line and let multiple people pass before rejoining the queue.

I have a curiosity question everybody.......when you come to this thread, do you first look at the various thread options on the Chit Chat Forum? ......or....do you pop directly into this thread and you are actually unaware of the other Chit Chat FORUM threads?

I like @figmentfan423 stick to a few 'safe' threads on Chit Chat. Some are more drama safe than others. Some parse words and I can't deal with the hidden meaning of all that. Here while we do disagree with each other on occasion we are not the type to carry a grudge if someone wigs out. Works well. I tend not to mess with other areas that are not welcoming. Then again I tend to stay away from from the tension of posting on N&R or Political Forums, I don't do UGLY well but can at least Endure N&R to passively read.

What are you finding enjoyable on Chit Chat?

Thanks, Gabe! :)
The exterior and the dining porch aren't typical design of the locations we're familiar with, but, the nacho bar, hanging fish and hubcaps definitely are...!!! :)

Here's a shot of the original location exterior near downtown...! :)

Wow. That is so different than the two new locations opened up here. I actually like the Warrenville location opened here better than the Schaumburg Location we dined at. More me. Both polar opposites. Schaumburg is a large urban area in the Greater Chicago area. Warrenville is not really Urban. It is a better fit design wise for me.

Both are more contemporary which isn't me, but Warrenville's is more us given the two styles up here. I'm more the Texas type version. It reminds me of the abandoned Animal Kingdom original style of buildings now lost to the trending earth tone buildings taking over both AK and Future World/Epcot.
