No prob if you're bringing wine. Note to self kick boys out of their rooms the weekend before Thanksgiving and give them a good deep cleaning, make sure to put clean sheets on the pull out and wash sleeping bags

Well thanks. No need to kick the boys out of their digs. I have an awesome blow up mattress that is a winning rival to the mattress I slept on once at Pop. I'll bring the Artist Point Wine of Choice, Kungfu Girl, a Riesling. I'm all in for the boys Smoker cook-out. Dear Lord :hungry:

Well, we didn't hear anything. So DH called the new school...they said they get word from the parents, not the committee...they won't get word until WE tell them. Which is weird. So DH explains that the resource director at the old school said it had been approved and someone had called HER to get some information so they could place him in the right class. But, both the principal at the new school and the resource director who told us it had been approved are off on Wednesdays. So we can't get either one on the phone. So DH called the committee I think? and SHE said, yes it's been approved, but it has to go through the proper channels, so it will be next week at least before we get the official word. So he won't be starting next Monday. :banghead: So she confirmed that it's not a no, but we still have to play the waiting game for some reason.

Blah. And I thought we had all rights to bureaucracy here in the states. It is a kid, get on with it folks! :arghh:

My surgery actually went about as I expected. The only part of the procedure that made me uncomfortable was the hard bed/table that they have you lay on, and the cold water they kept applying to my eye during the procedure. Makes sense that some kind of cleansing process must happen to remove the old debri from the eye. Of course I am just guessing about the reasoning behind that. They also said that I had an irregular heartbeat during the procedure and they recommended that I follow up with a cardiologist appointment. I don't have a cardiologist, so I need to find one ASAP. I called my primary doctor about that very thing last night, and left her a message. I have a follow up appointment at the eye surgeon today. Not sure if this heart issue will delay my second surgery which was supposed to be in about two weeks. So I am now looking out of very badly sighted left eye, and partially covered surgically repaired right eye. Glasses were my key to happiness. "Making the best of it" is what I am practicing at the moment. Physically I feel fine. Thanks for all the good wishes and concerns. Love this thread.

Happy to hear about the surgery going well. WooHoo!

Choose the Cardiologist well. Look for some good recommendations over quick for appointment availability. I had that issue with my Mom this year and had to yank her away from the dude. A Doc that isn't an alarmist or more interested in ordering every test under the sun if not warranted. Some tests are pretty harmless, others can run some risks. It isn't all that unusual when you are put under but certainly wise that the eye surgeon doc wants it looked into before the next procedure. Mark of a good Doc there.

Hey, @figmentfan423 , remember when I said our hand egg season was done? Well, those lovely boys some how won the last away game. Play off game Saturday night. High temp that day is mid 40's. Of course, the game doesn't start until after sundown. DD will be sent off in layers, and the marching band uniforms are pretty warm. They also have coats that go over the uniform to protect from rain, but the directors have been known to bring them out when it gets cold.

My DD was to go back to U of I for football game on Friday. To go HOME again. She isn't going. She doesn't like sports but loves her University. She didn't like the movie FROZEN nor does she like to be FROZEN for the fun of it.

I just returned from my eye doctor appointment, and he said that I can continue to wear my old glasses. At least I will be able to see out of my left eye, which is not the operated eye. However, I see pretty well on both sides. The right eye is blurry, of course, but the surgeon says it looks really good just one day after surgery. So glad I can function with my glasses on. No weirdness at all on the right side. Now I am still waiting from a call back from my primary doctor. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I will call up Advocate Medical Center again, and see someone else on staff about my newest health issue. You get old, you get problems.

Pixie Dust. Don't get yourself too worked up just yet. So many things can create a weird bleep. You were a tad nervous going in and that affects all of us. Savor the good news with your eye. : )

Rant alert, here it comes...(it's about the coworker I can't stand)

My supervisor has been on leave for a while to take care of her sister. She came back two weeks ago, but was basically remote. We got word Monday that her sister had passed away.

Yesterday, I got a Skype message around 9 am from my dreadful coworker. "Is your supervisor working from home today?" I walked down the hall to talk to her, and quietly told her that my supervisor's sister had passed away the day before and she was on leave.

My coworker's reaction? "Oh, sh*t, I wanted to ask to use her office."

That. Not, "Oh my gosh, that's terrible." Not, "Oh, no. I feel so bad for her." Which could have been followed up with, "Well, I hate to ask this, but we have a manager from Mexico who needs some place to work. Do you think she'd mind if we used her office?" Followed with some expressions of sympathy. Nope, just, oh darn, wanted to use her office.

I do not understand some people. Work is not more important than family; get over it. Ugh!

In other news, I applied for my first real credit card today. Not a store card, not a student card, a full fledged credit card, and I got approved! :D It's through my bank, which probably helps, and it lets me check my credit score every month. And it offers 5% back on gas and groceries, and 1% back on everything else, and if you deposit your cash back directly into one of your accounts, you get an additional cash back reward. Though they gave me a credit limit which I must say is ridiculously high. I'm excited; this is good news for my financial future. Next one will be probably an Amazon card since I do most of my shopping there. Then a Disney Visa.
Congrats. Use it well
