Just finished watching two shows on the Travel Channel that featured two pretty much local places.
On "Epic Campsites" they featured Cypress Valley Conopy Tours, about an hour away.
And, on "Food Paradise: keepin' it Retro" they featured Louie Mueller BBQ :hungry: about 45 mins. away in Taylor, Texas, where I took that Gyroplane flight on Father's Day.
Plus, they featured Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen in Houston. :hungry:
Will hafta' see about trying that next time we head to Houston to visit BIL, MIL, and niece. :)

And as much as I love the characters and the MK is GREAT for that, I liked that Epcot wasn't like that...that Disney could make the real world interesting to kids without the use of cartoon-ish characters, etc.

Understand that I am not happy about the loss of EPCOT Ctr., but, it died a long time ago. It was great for some, but, not for most. We as a small group cannot support the place ourselves and we at some point in time have to realize that the time of EPCOT has passed. Great while it lasted, but, didn't have a sustainability simply because of it's mission. That was to stay ahead of progress or at least with it. The speed that technology developed after EPCOT was built made it so that the best they could ever do is be the Experimental Prototype Community Of Today, but, mostly yesterday. It never was what the title said anyway.

I think that there is a still great experience in Epcot even if it isn't the original intent. But, without something to draw people into the place, it would be just another empty place where all good ideas go to die. It needed Frozen. The concept of Norway, which for the most part still exists, is not harmed by Frozen, but, it did indeed breath new life into a pavilion that had already passed away. We can argue forever that the location of the Frozen story was not Norway, but, if you can think of a more suitable thing that maintains even a degree of theme, I'd entertain it. However, it was still at the overall cost and loss of Epcot. Pleasant memories will not maintain that park. We all know that Disney is money motivated, they won't continue to support a park that is slowly declining in popularity. Whether we like it or not, something had to be done to stop the bleeding. Saving the overall body is far more important then worrying about whether or not the band-aid matches our complexion.

Yes, they could have built a new ride for it someplace else, but, the troubled standing of Norway would still be a problem and we all know what Disney had done with problems, especially ones that cost money. They became special places for festival locations.

When I was a kiddo, we definitely lived in a clean house, but, I was not spotless. We all helped out, but, we also lived. We were outside so much of the time, over at other people's homes, playing football in the mud (that was sooo much fun :happy:) at the local park, etc.
in other words, we were exposed to, pretty much, everything when we were were young, and I don't remember any of us (including mom and pop, who were both raised on farms) ever getting anything more than an occasional stomach flu, fever-achy flu, or cold, that was never severe, and never lasted long, at all.
And, even though that happened to us a little back then, I can't even remember the last time I, or any of us (including our kiddos) have ever been sick with any of those things (allergies here in Central Texas being an occasional pain). We definitely do all the basic hygiene...showering, washing hands after using the restroom, etc., etc., etc., but we are definitely not germaphobes.
We have never been sick on any trip anywhere, that I can remember. Maybe we have built up a tolerance/immunity to all that stuff over the years...? (Knock on wood...my head ;)).
Although, we're all different, and YMMV...! ;)

IMO Epcot had the visitor numbers to sustain just shuttered pavilions and decaying lands were not addressed Again my opinion it was pure neglect and lack of investment back into Epcot not fans disliking the concept. AK and the Studios were the ones struggling with the half day park syndrome.

Nemo would have fit the Seas if they maintained the educational parts. They just tossed parts of the movie and called it a job well done.
Rattatouie at least will have one huge part of their culture tying it to the pavilion. aka the food love.

I enjoyed Seas. It had a full story from the short movie hydro elevators the ride through seeing so many types of fish, dolphins and then everything to explore on the first floor hands on. A good backstory. Now Nemo is one of the cheapest overlays I've seen yet and from what I understand a cheap overlay will go into Mexico Coco will represent Mexico. :facepalm: My kids learned about cultures. My someday grandkids will think Norway is about a frozen land France about a foodie rat place and Mexico culture is Coco

So, @figmentfan423 , you'll be happy to know that I was able to get groceries today. I tried the online delivery service from one of the local grocery stores. It was so easy and it was great--they delivered it right to my door, at the time I signed up for. The actual delivery truck was kinda neat--it had multiple compartment doors--some frozen, some refrigerated, and others for other stuff. The delivery man kept pulling out my bags from different parts of the truck and he put them on the front porch (I was out there when he arrived).

But the best part was that it was like getting all these bags of presents delivered to me. It was almost like--

:joyfull: :joyfull: (Oh, it was also cheaper than me going round trip via taxi, as the store's delivery fee was very low and just a small fee for the order picker as well.) So a win win!! :happy:

Only two pics from our comped Kerby Lane meal tonight. Everyone was so hungry...

DWifey and myself ordered the same. Chicken fried steak, with collard greens, bacon and cheese mashed potatoes, and a biscuit...!!!

And youngest DD and DS ordered the same. Buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and home fries...!!! :hungry:

I have no pics of oldest DD and SonIL's plates, but, they also enjoyed them very much. And, they even comped SonIL's meal even though he wasn't with us that fateful brunch, because he had to work...!!!!! :joyfull: :hungry: :)
