Just finished watching two shows on the Travel Channel that featured two pretty much local places. 
On "Epic Campsites" they featured Cypress Valley Conopy Tours, about an hour away.
And, on "Food Paradise: keepin' it Retro" they featured Louie Mueller BBQ about 45 mins. away in Taylor, Texas, where I took that Gyroplane flight on Father's Day.

Plus, they featured Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen in Houston.
Will hafta' see about trying that next time we head to Houston to visit BIL, MIL, and niece.
