I'd like to move in. Do they have a spare bedroom? :hilarious: That room looks so cozy and inviting. (And I know your parents have strudel . . . ;) ) Your dad looks so content.

Funny, what really caught my eye about that photo was the ceiling. I love that angled ceiling with the dark beams over white--really sharp. Then, with the brown paneling, well, all I can say is that I'm ready to move in!! :p

I'm going to 8 AM Christmas Mass this morning. When I come home, hubs and I (and Jack . . .) will open gifts. I bought Jack a ridiculous-looking, purple monster chew toy. Supposedly, it's made extra tough so he'll have a struggle to destroy it--nothing Jack likes better than carnage. (If this one lasts an hour, I'll be surprised. )

At 10:00 AM, there is a Disney special, so I might tune that in.

Finally decided yesterday at the supermarket, what to make for dinner today (that would only take minimal effort). Got a roast beef (just throw in oven), bought pre-cooked sides of mashed potatoes and mashed squash (just heat up both), and I'll make an easy green bean casserole (5 minutes prep--throw in oven). Bought a can of gravy (I can nuke that). My sister's bringing crackers and cheese for ahead of time, and I also have (plain) egg nog before dinner as well (traditional). I bought a bottle of nonalcoholic sparkling cider for dinner. For dessert -- bought a Christmas cake and vanilla frozen yogurt. (Oh, I have plenty of Starbucks dark roast coffee available, too! :hungry: )

(I'll bet that Emeril, the famous chef, would be jealous of my cooking skills.) :D

OMG I'm so sorry! I 'm sending prayers and pixie dust for a speedy recovery and nobody else gets sick xoxo
Thanks! I think she's on the mend. She feels SO much better today and her fever is down to 100.7, which isn't too bad. She actually wants to eat, so that's a good sign. Good thing my nephew is with his mom today so we're celebrating tomorrow...gives DD an extra day to get over whatever it is!

He is more of a nervous wreck than he usually is. Christmas Eve (and Easter) are the biggest services of the year and he always wants everything to be perfect. The services are always wonderful, but he is so type A. So this voice thing has thrown him for a loop, he does have a microphone he can use so that will help. The power point idea is a good one but not enough space for the set up for a Christmas service, we have done screen projections before (for youth presentations) and the projector and screen take up a decent amount of space, that tonight will need to be filled in with people. Maybe for the service tomorrow though! He does type up his sermons (but never reads from it) so if need be someone could read it for him. His sermons are pretty short about 5-7 minutes so if he doesn't over do the singing he might be okay. :)
Hope it went well! I'm a bit late in the game to offer any sort of tips. I lost my voice last year at Christmas and had to miss all my choir performances. It's no fun.

Yeah...cause of people like us. My Dad everytime he got them he split them between my DD and my DS. Jars and Jars of them. Guessing we are not the only hoarders. We are not coin collectors, just hoarders. My FIL saved the new state quarters for the kids, a bit more organized. I don't see these going anywhere anytime soon as both Papa's have now passed along with the adopted Papa.
I've got the quarters as well. Why? I don't know. There worth a quarter and probably always will be, but, it was fun collecting them. They are in the blue coin holder book specifically for that purpose. I had around 7 actual, real, big and hefty silver dollars. By some strange coincidence I had, in that group, 3 from 1974 and 1 from 1976. I gave one each of the 1974's to my grandkids whose mother happened to be born in 1974. The 1976 on to the one whose mother was born in, can you guess,... 1976. The other three are random dates and I don't know why I keep them. I also have a few random coins from my trip to Europe in 1967 (some from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and England) pre-Euro's. I have a few from my R&R in Japan in 1970. Those are because it is amazing that I still had some left over that I didn't spend while there.

I will be on and off at various times during the day (mostly off), so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish a very Merry Christmas to all of you and for those that are not Christian, I hope all had or are having a wonderful Holiday of your beliefs. There's room enough on this planet for all of us to get along, not everyone has to think alike.

So to all of you, even those that have me on "ignore", ;) I sincerely want everyone to have a great Holiday and a happy, healthy New Year. :D

Merry Christmas to you, your hubby, and Jack!!!

Christmas prep is all done. Hubby has two services tonight, and since Christmas is on a Sunday he will have a service too. He finished all his prep for it yesterday, but he has a bad cough and his voice is going in and out. Not good with all the speaking he will have to do. I have him drinking honey and lemon water to help it, which he hates but he is doing it without complaint because he is so worried about losing his voice.
Oh no I hope he make it through with no pain. BTW we use raw honey, lemon and garlic for throat issues all have antiseptic and antibiotic properties. That's what we've been using since I was a kid, works like a charm. :joyfull:

Got any idea where that tongue has been? I'll pass on that. I still have memories of being newly wed and having my wife prepare tongue sandwiches, and then expecting me to actually eat them.
Actually I did eat them... the things we do for love. After about a year of occasional exposure, I sweetly asked that we end the inclusion of tongue on any future menu. In the words of "Meatloaf"... "I'll do anything for love, but, I won't do that!"
When we pick up beef the tongue gets cooked right away and sent to my father in laws:hungover::hungover::hungover::hungover:

I hope everything works out for him. Even if someone read it for him, that would be good, too. By the way, I like his timeframe for sermons--no longer than 7 minutes. I hate long sermons, so he gets points for his brief ones!
I'm with you 5 to 7 minutes is perfect:joyfull: I was an evil little child because I prayed every weekend we wouldn't get the priest who was good for sermons that could last an hour. They were so long sometimes the next mass wouldn't start on time:cautious:

I have one of those maps with all the state quarters in it one for each of the boys:)
