Hahaaa...!
Last year it lasted well over an hour, but, as usual, it was well worth the time, as Father Izzy is a hoot and a half, and the music was awesome...! :)
I was raised on midnight mass, for the most part, and so were our kiddos. It's actually kinda' funny, now that our kiddos are older, how much of an important tradition it has become for them...! :)

Even before I met my husband, going to church on Christmas Eve was an important tradition to me. It just wouldn't seem like Christmas to me without it. There is actually one song that I need to have played in church for it to be "right" to me. It was played in my church growing up and when I married Brad I was pleased to find out it was played at the church he was at. I actually told him if it wasn't played I would be going somewhere else. The song is a Norwegian song called "I am so Glad Each Christmas Eve", in my home church we sang some of the verses in Norwegian and I do miss that.

One year hubby accidentally skipped over the song in the service and went right into his sermon. I spent the whole sermon (all 5-7 minutes of it) fuming. I don't know if he noticed I was upset or what but after his sermon he back tracked and told the organist to play it. I was able to relax a little then.

I did indeed! :)
He's from Africa, and my folks are very close with him. He has been at their home many times for dinner and such, and he was also at the hospital to pray with all of our family just before pop had his quadruple bypass surgery.
He is a great man and a beautiful soul of a human being...! :)

Isn't it great when you get a pastor/priest you can really relate to. Mine were great growing up. My Catholics friends in our area really loved their last priest and were upset when he left. They think the new one is okay but they still talk about Father Tom.

That is a great story! :)
This is an amazing time of year to me with all the family traditions. Either remembered, still followed through with, or new...! :)

It is indeed very comforting!
My folks/family are founding members of this Parish from back in '78, before the actual church was built. We had mass in a local elementary school cafeteria until construction was complete.
We have had many wonderful priests over the years, but, of course, some just stand out, or we connect a bit better with, than others...! :)

Somethin' tells me your hubby is one of those men of the cloth that a community really cherishes...! :)

My apologies to all of y'all for not bein' able to keep up here.
I really try, but, it's just impossible sometimes.
And, I know so many of us are having issues with health, jobs, you name it, etc.
All I can say is I wish the absolute best to all of y'all, and I really enjoy our interaction here.
You guys are awesome...!!!!! :)

In Rockport, MA, (seacoast town), they have Santa arrive on a lobster boat every Christmas season. It's a big deal and a huge crowd turns out. I went to see that one year, and it was fun!! :joyfull:

P.S.: You can't see from this stock photo, but the other side of the view is high rocky cliffs where many people line up (hundreds of them) and also down into the dock area--the place is packed. What's particularly funny is that the adults in the crowd seemed to be more excited and animated to see Santa, than the kids! :D

When we were in the Dominion Republic one year for Christmas, Santa arrived in a speedboat up to the beach.

Nice prize... those things are getting harder to find every year. I haven't seen one in about three years.

Yeah...cause of people like us. My Dad everytime he got them he split them between my DD and my DS. Jars and Jars of them. Guessing we are not the only hoarders. We are not coin collectors, just hoarders. My FIL saved the new state quarters for the kids, a bit more organized. I don't see these going anywhere anytime soon as both Papa's have now passed along with the adopted Papa.
