I'm going to 8 AM Christmas Mass this morning. When I come home, hubs and I (and Jack . . .) will open gifts. I bought Jack a ridiculous-looking, purple monster chew toy. Supposedly, it's made extra tough so he'll have a struggle to destroy it--nothing Jack likes better than carnage. (If this one lasts an hour, I'll be surprised. )

At 10:00 AM, there is a Disney special, so I might tune that in.

Finally decided yesterday at the supermarket, what to make for dinner today (that would only take minimal effort). Got a roast beef (just throw in oven), bought pre-cooked sides of mashed potatoes and mashed squash (just heat up both), and I'll make an easy green bean casserole (5 minutes prep--throw in oven). Bought a can of gravy (I can nuke that). My sister's bringing crackers and cheese for ahead of time, and I also have (plain) egg nog before dinner as well (traditional). I bought a bottle of nonalcoholic sparkling cider for dinner. For dessert -- bought a Christmas cake and vanilla frozen yogurt. (Oh, I have plenty of Starbucks dark roast coffee available, too! )

(I'll bet that Emeril, the famous chef, would be jealous of my cooking skills.)

Thanks! I think she's on the mend. She feels SO much better today and her fever is down to 100.7, which isn't too bad. She actually wants to eat, so that's a good sign. Good thing my nephew is with his mom today so we're celebrating tomorrow...gives DD an extra day to get over whatever it is!

I hope that's a good sign and she's all better tomorrow.

My retirement plan

Worked for me. Christmas Day and I'm sporting shorts and T's. It is cool but not cold. I can live with that. You can have your white christmas... I'll take the green grass of home.

We went swimming today, went in the ocean, and sipped frozen drinks by the pool (margarita for me, piña coladas for my mom and aunt). But it's not quite warm enough for the A/C to be running, at least at night.

We're seriously planning a Christmas cruise next year. For three people it's $1500 cheaper than a WDW trip at the same time.

Well, hubby made it through the services last night and the voice is a little better this morning so he just has to get through the service this morning. The honey and lemon must have worked. However, when we got out of the shower he had hives all over his body! He said he didn't want to take Benadryl because it would make him sleepy. So I told him it was either take the Benadryl or go to the emergency room. He took the Benadryl. By the time we got done with presents and stockings he was looking better, but I guess we will just keep an eye on it.

Besides the hives we had a nice morning. Kapono got lots of toys left in her stocking by Santa and Santa was good to both Brad and I as well. Once he gets back from church we will head to my sister's house for the day and then head down to Chicago for Christmas with his family.

We would NEVER go to WDW during Christmas. Too crowded. But it is nice being south. It's not crowded here.

I've been a few times during Christmas/New Years week. You just need to go with the flow.

78 here right now, with a predicted high of 80.
Highest ever temp here on Christmas Day was 90 degrees in 1955.

I hope that's a good sign and she's all better tomorrow.

I hope she's better tomorrow...she felt better today and her fever stayed at 100.7 the whole day until after dinner when it shot up to 102.2. So we couldn't go to Oma and Opa's as planned and she CRIED. She's so so sad. If her temp is back down tomorrow, we can go for the day, but she's so afraid that it won't be and that we won't be able to go. Some prayers and pixie dust would sure be appreciated.
