I was shocked the first time I learned how little teachers make in the States. It is a pretty lucrative career here.

Thnx I did organic celery for the price of regular, arugala, what I'm sure is the last of the summer squash and some winter squashes

I was at a farm stand today picking out pumpkins with the kids and I was admiring the squash. I will go back and get some when I'm ready to use it as I don't want it to go bad. It looks so good this year and quite the variety here. Love squash.

I've loved Brussels sprouts from day one.
Then again, I've always been known as the one son that ate everything mom ever put on a plate...!

I like how his menus rotate about every month or so. I love fish but frankly being out in the midwest all I see even offered even at better restaruants is Salmon or Tilapia. Just about every TS restaurant at Disney when you go looking for fish it is that dang salmon. He always has a unique offering too. Suckling Pig, Duck and the last time there was GOAT. Don't see goat on the menu very often.

Ok...now I am officially excited!

Happy farm market Saturday I'm heading out to get more veggies, some fruit and a dozen eggs and then it's going to be a fun afternoon of working on the boy's bathroom. At least part of my day will be fun. LOL

There's nothing quite as relaxing as going to a farmer's market for me. I assume it's what hot tubs feel like to other people.

But I thought your farmers market was closed for the season. The ones around here are.

We have three in our city and they are open year round. We also have a year round grocery store that only sells local food. Love it!

Since your hubby is a minister (I think you mentioned he was a minister), can you ask him if awesome bakeries exist in heaven. If they do, will the calories be removed from all the delicious items we want to eat every day, and will we all be gorgeous and svelte?!

He is a minister and he says he hopes that there will be bakeries and BBQ joints (his addition) in heaven and hopes there is no calories!

Not a bad idea overall, but the amount of money I could kick in at this point (especially with month-end bills), would probably only buy me about a cup of dirt!! Sorry, @MR FERRET , I am not a wealthy island dweller, nor a member of the glitterati like your good self!

As a teacher, I'm curious what is the average salary of a teacher where you are?

Hubby brought home a butternut squash. I roasted in the oven and it didn't shred! By, the way how do you cut these in half? I couldn't get any knife through it. Hubby had a hard time with it too.

Wait...you mean spaghetti squash, right? I would imagine it would be hard to shred a butternut.

I think Kohl's usually has stuff marked down quite a bit throughout the year - at least my mom always seems to find super cheap stuff there.

I went Kohl's today. Kohl's is getting boring to me though. They definitely up the prices just to put them on 'sale'.

I told myself I have enough heavy winter clothes and I was just getting light winter/fall/spring clothes. And what did I get? A heavy sweatshirt among two other things. Supposedly it was full price of $80 and after a 20% coupon and being marked down. I got it for $32.

The hardest season to shop for me is summer. Half of my summer clothes are wicked old (at least 10 years which is a lot for clothes). I want new shirts but I never like anything. Stores currently have no good summer clothes on clearance.
