Yupper! Snow amounts vary all over the state. I've been out a few times today (to clear snow from the heating vent on side of building) and to just shovel front steps once. (Of course, everything I shoveled before noon, has filled in quickly, as the storm is absolutely raging in my area.) :p

Hard to measure exact amounts of snow -- a lot of drifting, as we've had consistent winds (luckily, none so high to be damaging). But with this cold temperature it keeps the snow light and fluffy -- so even a breeze would blow it all over the place. My guess is that when I was out at 1 PM, we had 15 inches. I think by 10 PM, we'll get close to the 2 foot mark. I don't believe they'll release the exact totals for this area until tomorrow.

Meanwhile hubs is out on the roof pushing off close to 20 inches (again, from wind drifts), while the snow is light and easy to move. Some will drift back overnight, but the bulk of it he'll be able to move out now.
Be careful please on the roof, ambulance services may not come if need medical help.

Wow! That’s gonna be a lot of snow. I assume power is back on? Do you have a backup heat source?
Tell hubby to be careful. Getting in the roof scares me, but he probably is used to doing that.
You sure are getting your snow all at once! Enjoy it!! 😊

He does it all the time, but I appreciate your concern. Also, fire, EMS and police are out and roads are snowy but passable (part of that is due to one of the guys in city gov't. lives across from us -- even with a plow driver shortage, it's hilarious that my dinky little street is probably the best cleared street in the city! :hilarious:

We never lost power -- that was more down in the Cape Cod areas, not up here (so far). Oh, as for the roof, I wouldn't do it, but he likes getting out there. :p He doesn't like shoveling the driveway, etc., but loves it out on the roof!! :hilarious: (I'm always close by in another room, just in case -- to sort of keep an eye on him. He doesn't know that.) :joyfull:

Yah, this is a biggie storm. About time -- it's practically February!

I never understood some of the mentality like in hurricane season in FL. Go to grocery store , buy up all the milk, bread, eggs, canned goods, junk food, ride out the hurricane in the walk in closet ( safest place ) , clean up the aftermath , then line up with the crowd of people at McDonalds , BK, KFC etc, when word gets out when the fast food places are reopening again. Power outages are not fun especially when the live wires are in puddles of water and a few have died walking into one.

I think ppl going to McDonalds is smart. The food is so full of preservatives that IT can last for weeks with no mold :hilarious: :hilarious:

That's a shock to Orlando locals but one summer when we had a family vacation and toured the CA Bay Area including San Francisco back in the day we had to bring and wear winter wear in July. Those winds off the bay were intense and our shins hurt from literally walking some of the streets of SF that seemed like almost vertical . One thing we noticed is that the million dollar Victorian homes didnt even have AC and we never turned on our AC in our hotel room during our visit.

Yea, was in San Francisco many times when we lived in San Jose back from ‘68-‘76.
As Mark Twain, or Tony Bennett are potentially credited with sayin’/singin’…”The coldest winter I ever spent, was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”…!!!!! :hilarious:
The last time Carolyn and I were out that way was in August of 1989, 2 months before the Loma Prieta Earthquake.
I suggested she bring a jacket, and she didn’t think I was serious. She thanked me later when the wind almost blew her over, when we got out of the rental car at the Golden Gate Bridge overlook…!!!!! :hilarious:
