Oh, the neighbor I mentioned yesterday (the man in city gov't. position) sent over two of his "DPW boys" (his quote, not mine :joyfull: ) to help us, which was great. Oh, the "boys" ranged from 25-70 years old . . . just sayin' :p ) -- one driving a larger city plow truck, to clear out the entire front of our location, and then the other guy driving a huge tractor who got in real close to our front steps and scooped up a ton of snow in the bucket -- and dumped that off in an empty lot down the street. That was major! Under normal circumstances, the city plows and private contractors only plow two lanes straight down the street (not up to the sides of streets).

(Side note -- our landlord is supposed to always send over his private plow driver for the front area and driveways, but his driver is kinda useless, as he gets there sometimes a full day after a storm. 🤦‍♀️ :hilarious: Half the time we end up shoveling out ourselves, before he graces us with his appearance. ) One time I offered him a cup of coffee and he appreciated that. Now, ever since that first time, whenever he shows up, he knocks on the front door and politely asks if I might have a spare cup of coffee . . . 🙃
Nice story, but massive misappropriation of public funds by your neighbor. Besides I thought you L❤️VED shoveling snow.

The train is one of the things I am most looking forward to in DL next month. 💕

Enjoy! It is many different sights to see than the MK one, I am a fan of the dinosaurs.

A friend from college and I just planned a postponed trip to California. We are going to Santa Barbara but flying in and out of LAX, she suggested a day at Disneyland before flying out. How could I say no to that?!!? Actually, I tacked on an additional day after she flies back so I can do all the things she won't want to do, she gets sick on coasters and I don't want to make her sit around while I ride them.

Isn't it a snow day make the school year last longer like until June? One thing about a snow day my friend went to boarding school for high school in CT and there were no snow days. Classes happened since faculty and students lived together on campus.
There are no more snow days in Central PA apparently. If school is closed they do Zoom. That’s what my friends tell me that have kids in public school.

24.7" here! Hubby went out twice with our monster snow blower last night (it's something like 30" across, lol...thank you MIL!) and is just cleaning off the cars and shoveling out the mailbox and propane tank this morning.

We gave up having people come plow because the van company that drives the boys to school hires people that just don't know how to drive in snow...and they kept getting stuck (even though I've never had an issue in my huge truck...without using 4x4). Hubby does a fantastic job and knows how much room they need.

Yes. Our school district actually shifted the start of the school year to allow for those years that have a lot of snow days. (it used to never start before Labor Day and now starts by Sept. 1st)
Also a company called hot hands makes hand warmers and body warmers. The body warmers are patches you attach to your body to make you nice and toasty.
I got a 40-pack of their hand warmers for around $14 on Amazon!

Good luck. When do you think school will reopen?

Ohhh...good question!

It really depends on how they do with clearing the roads and restoring power...there's only about 400 people in town who don't have power back at this point. Honestly, with our road down to bare pavement, I'd be surprised if school is cancelled tomorrow, but you never know.
