I'm going to kill my father.

My dad suggested me and B coming down to WDW the weekend Rise of the Resistance opens. He said it within earshot of B. At first, he said no. Just walked in the room and B says to me, "Go to Disney in December?"

Me to my father: "I am going to kill you." As he laughs his head off. I'm never going to hear the end of it now.

You waved in the wrong direction. I'm at BCV.

Although I was in Epcot when you posted this. Watching Plain White Ts.
My mom on this subject before she and I went in: "Oh some band called the Plain White Ts is playing."

Now I know how she feels when she names a group and I'm clueless. I sang a few bars of "Hey There Delilah" and she realized who they were.

Well, that was an adventure...
Actually, I was only there for about 2 hrs. and 40 mins. altogether, and now I have my “Real ID”. Not too bad, as I’ve heard of folks waiting upwards of 5 hrs. with all this Real ID stuff.
Oct. 1, 2020 is the deadline, and if you don’t have it you won’t be able to fly.
I’ll just attribute the relative brevity of my DPS visit to my good luck Mickey shirt...!!!!! :hilarious:

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad, but still -- almost 3 hours for you. This whole Real ID thing is beyond a pain in the . (Got my new license some months ago -- I went right when the doors opened at my local AAA, so I got out of there in maybe an hour and 15 minutes.) I can think of more fun things to do with that time!

I brought my current license (of course), birth certificate, social security card, and passport for good measure. Although you, obviously, don’t need a passport, but, they still entered it in their system. Our passports don’t expire for over 8 years, so good to go here as well...!!! :)

Actually, if you have a current passport, I don't think you need to even update your license. Updating the license allows you to fly within the U.S.; a passport is good for flights domestic and international. :) Anyway, that's according to something I read fairly recently. (Since Emy has a passport already, don't bother to update her driver's license . . . oh wait . . . :p)

You are correct... my dad is very not happy about this... I'm not sure he had a copy of his BC.

We just got hubs' birth certificate (from out of state). Oddly enough, that state prints on special colored paper with all the bells and whistles, yet doesn't have a "raised" certified seal. Why in heck can't every state just be friggin consistent?!! :cautious: So he'll probably go to get his done soon, and this should be interesting . . .

I wouldn't want to carry my passport domestically though... it makes me nervous enough for loss or stolen when I leave the states, I don't want to double that exposure by using it in the states too. The DL is more convenient imho.

Interesting point, from the convenience aspect; and come to think of it, I only knew one guy who always carried his passport and used it for I.D. (This was over 25 years ago.) He flew international from time to time, and I guess he just kept his passport on him out of habit or whatever.

I think for some people, they're also just trying to avoid an extra fee (for the Real ID processing cost), if they already have a passport. I can understand that, too.

No cost on real ID here in Michigan... is there a fee other places?

My state started giving out the Real ID a month after I got my license. Not going back til 2023. The whole passports to travel in your own country is absolutely crazy. More like the government wants more money and provide the people fake security.

Since when did drivers licenses not become a real id?
