So we talked to the morning manager. She tried to act like it was our fault for leaving a do not disturb tag on the door??!! They couldn’t get in to look at it.
1. We have to leave that tag otherwise the maids come in and clean. They have come in before even with the sign on the door.
2. You could have left a message on our phone that you didn’t come in. She had 2 notes already that we had complained.
3. It doesn’t matter if it’s batteries, it wouldn’t go off three days at the same time!
4. She did not even apologize or offer comp. I had to bring it up. Then she said she would mention it to the general manager.
I have the email for Comfort Suites. We are writing! We are done with them.🤬🤬🤬🤬 We will have to drive further to stay to visit DD but that’s ok. She only has one bedroom. That’s why we stay in a hotel.
So sorry you were treated that way. Too bad Comfort Suites is not like Hampton Inn. That company has a general policy that you must be satisfied with your stay or your stay is free.
I am a regular Hampton Inn customer and their quality is very dependable. Only once... one stay in southern NY state I complained about something and received a night free.
My colleague at school booked a Hampton Inn near Hershey Park. She knew it had an indoor pool. Her 6th grade daughter was looking forward to that. Yet when they arrived the pool was being worked on for maintenance issues. The next morning at check out she mentioned their disappointment re. not being able to use the pool. My colleague just expected some small discount off her bill. No...much better then that..Hampton Inn said if she was not 100% satisfied they would not charge her a penny. Free night!

@93boomer
Are there any Hampton Inns within 20 minutes of your daughter's location?

I cannot believe they start school so early in your area.Thought they only start that early in warmer areas. You must get a lot of holidays off during the year.
No, not a lot of holidays. This is what happens when the high school switches to the collegiate calendar. This way, fall term finals are done before winter break, which is much better than the "old days" of break, school for a week, then finals. It also means the end of school is closer to AP tests. And as the mother of a kid taking 5 of those this year, it Is better to be done close to this test, as it cuts down on movie time, or whatever else the teacher dreams up to fill the time.

Ok it is 3:49. It went off again and stayed on for a full 5 mts!🤬

I would be furious. So sorry that you had to deal with such nonsense.

Glad to see he had fun with his pals. :) Their activities (especially the one with the homemade ramps and scooters) reminded me of my brothers when they were his age. I recall them using their bicycles to jump off ramps. Usually, one would wipe out and get cut and bruised, but they'd go right back at it the next day! ;)

Ahh . . . to be T's age again -- I wish I had his energy!

I’m so glad to read this! Right after posting I worried that I might get comments on the lack of helmets/knee/arm pads. Lol

They do get scraped up, and they had some serious tumbles when first trying to surf on boxes down the hill, but that’s been the norm all summer. 😂 I used to make T wear a bike helmet, but not around the neighborhood anymore. He has basically grown out of his bike now, doesn’t ride it as often the past month. I told him to ask Santa for a new one.

My siblings and I did such stupid stuff as kids, I had some nasty wipeouts and cuts and bruises and a broken nose. 😂

I wish we could bottle the energy of children! I try to duplicate with obscene amounts of caffeine, but doesn’t quite work. ;)

Not excusing his behavior, but he is still only 9. Good that you told him his behavior was unacceptable and took away a treat. When my kids get snotty with me, which luckily never happens much, I give them “the look” and tell them to not speak to me that way. Stops them right away and I get an apology.

My “look” is only effective in the way that he won’t talk back, but chooses to ignore me instead. :(

Good for you, sticking to your principles. I know a lot of grown ups who never learned good sportsmanship.
I can’t stand poor sportsmanship. I have tried to explain a million times that gracious winning AND gracious losing are equally important.

It sounds like he was just being very hard on himself. I have 2 wired like that. The oldest one has finally learned if someone compliments your trumpet playing, just smile and say thank you. They don't know the little mistake you made in that one chart, and they really liked it. DD is that way with dance.

So hard on the parents when they get like that! Hopefully they’ll all grow out of it. :)

And just like that, DD is off on her first day of school. I have a meeting. I already miss summer break. 😥

:(. I’m with you, girl. I always see celebratory Facebook posts at back to school time, I don’t understand it. I’m always sad when summer ends.

Hope she has a good first day back!

Ok. I get it. In my high school 30 plus years ago our exams were always before breaks. Never had one after as far as I can remember. So then they get done in May? Our schools start the 22nd this year.

I always hear parents saying they can't wait for their kids to go back to school. Even when My kids were in public, I never looked forward to it. I always liked having them around. These people seem to get annoyed having their kids around. Umm maybe because their attitudes are like yours is what I think. We only have them so long and then they are gone.

Right now my two younger stuck a hose at the top of our twisty slide and are sliding down their homemade water slide. They put a large float at the bottom of the slide to cushion their fall.

Exactly. Some day our kids may not want to hang out at home.

Sounds like your kids are having a great day so far!

Each state sets its own laws. I was curious about whether you could get pulled over for that, so I looked up MA, and here's the scoop (there's some leeway):

No cracks or chips allowed within windshield wiper areas
Any damage on windshield must not obstruct driver's clear view of road
No chips or cracks larger than the size of a quarter are permitted

I found this for Texas...

Texas laws do not mention windshield cracks, but drivers are not permitted to operate vehicles with obstructed view of the road. No stickers or other objects may be attached to car windshields which prevent clear view of the road.

There is no mention of chips, but, this is why I was never pulled over for the cracked windshield here in Texas. :)

Where are the inspection stickers placed?

The crack (2 actually) got even bigger sitting overnight. They are about 6 inches in length.

Yep, sometimes they stay stable and sometimes they do not, to varying degrees.
I thought for sure the one I had would get worse over time, but, even through a few winter and summer temp changes it never did.
In this case, it sounds like y'all definitely need to get it replaced.

We don't have vehicle inspections here... :cyclops:

JK, LOL, and all that jazz...!!!!! :D;)

They're now a combination registration/inspection sticker (have been for several years), and, sitting in the drivers seat, they go in the far lower left corner of the windshield. :)
Our inspection stickers go in the same place. No inspections? I keep kicking myself for not moving to Texas.

When I lived in Vermont they didn't care about cracks in the windshield as long as they were not in the direct line of vision. I don't know what it is in N.C. because so far I haven't had any need to check on it. When it comes to inspections, we are required to have it inspected no more then 60 days previous to renewing our registration yearly. The DMV has a computer site where inspection folks record if your car passed inspection or not, no inspection, no renewal. No sticker, but, if you get stopped for anything, they will check the data base to see if it was done. Around here, the big offense is tires. They run those thing to the core and beyond. There are a lot of accidents due to hydroplaning on rain water and no traction in whatever light snow we get.
