Like other companies... they will probably first tell the investors, sell stock, short stock or whatever so they get benefit from the fall.
It seems like I've been breached numerous times. It's always because I'm a customer of a mega company....a company with millions of customers! I truthfully shrug it off because I'm just one in a million. These "breaches" have never had consequences for me. Maybe "my day is coming"....seriously...maybe I'll feel it somehow...someday. So... I'm a Capital One Customer, and an Amazon customer....and a Yahoo e-mail person, etc., etc.
It never seems to matter.
Does anyone on this thread have an identity theft horror story, or are most of you feeling like your experiences are similar to mine?

Edit....I meant to quote @MinnieM123 , but instead I quoted Cesar's response to her...'cause HE quoted Minnie....LOL, if that makes any sense 😄

I have a love hate relationship with hubby's 3D printer tonight!

He leaves for D&D, and says, after that file finishes printing, print XX file. Of course when I get down there, the filament is out, his other thing he was printing didn't finish, and I end up having to monkey with the thing for 30 minutes. And the XX file... wrong file name... I swear... and I SWEAR!

You know, the whole thing is just sickening. They're not the first, either. How in h*.* do these "credit reporting" companies gain access to our information in the first place??!!!! I certainly didn't "share" my information with them, nor did you. :banghead: I don't understand how any of this can be legal. They should all be shut down.

And $125 is all they gave -- what about the people who've spent so much money trying to clear up the MESS that Equifax created? (Side note: MA Attorney General suing Equifax on behalf of MA residents affected by data breach. Reuters reported that a Suffolk Superior Court Judge ruled that Equifax could not dismiss the lawsuit, due to gross negligence on its part, due to their breach of legal duties to address all reasonable forseeable risks to data security. Equifax failed to patch or upgrade its software, for its serious vulnerability in their computer code.

And now, the latest is the Capitol One bank breach. WTH???!!!
I didn’t need to state my opinion on this because you did such a fine job for me.
Yes, some REAL accountability -- much higher fines, and jail for some, depending upon the nature of the breach, and if it was something that was known, but not fixed quickly. (And those thoughts I'm mentioning here are coming from law enforcement agencies.)

Biometrics are helpful in certain situations, but that's only one tool that can be utilized. (When I worked at the hospital, our medical staff had finger scans to access the Omnicell. There were some glitches though, when it would not "read" the fingerprint -- especially if there was even a tiny bit of lotion on the finger. (With them washing their hands constantly throughout the day, they sometimes used the hand lotion dispensers at the sinks.) Then, they couldn't get into the Omnicells! :hilarious:
It isn’t going to change in the near future. You both spoke to this eloquently so I won’t add to that.

Still it starts at the top of government as lower levels have no control and often knowledge over what the FBI CIA and intelligence information is being disseminated. Add to that and their reputations and competency is always being questioned and restricted. It isn’t just our personal info it is governmental data that has been hacked.

If the Feds are being hacked and leadership believes the failed security is good enough and won’t upgrade security measures it hamstringing the very people who use to be able to protect us better. We should learn from the past. IMO everywhere should be advancing security.

Highest levels of security should be sought on all levels but it is not and we are seeing the fallout from those hackers knowing other areas are just as weakly protected as our top tier is. Good enough standard isn’t doing it but I have seen no indication of concern for hacking from leadership that has the powers to enact tougher standards and fines.

So that is why I believe we will see far more of this not less.

I don't think I've ever seen a passport for a baby before! :joyfull:;) The other thing that I found hilarious was seeing Emy sitting ON the table. That's her direct approach to getting close to all the food! :hilarious:

My goodness, all that delicious food on the table, and your "round 1" (I presume . . . ;) ) on your plate. Yum! Your family always puts out a good spread. :hungry:

Hahaaa...!!!
You can buy all kinds of covers for passports...!!! :)
Yep, she’s a lil’ foodie who likes to be near the action...!!!!! :hilarious:

Thanks Minnie, we never go hungry, that’s for sure...!!!!! :hungry::)
Actually, I’m pretty much a one plate and done kinda’ guy, these days...although, I did go back and grab another burger patty, nuked some cheese on top of it, then doused it in Worcestershire sauce, as that’s one of my favorite ways to enjoy leftover burger patties....!!!!! :hungry::happy:

I don't mean to be a downer,.... but did everyone see the mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival? We used to go to that almost every year as kids. I woke up this morning with plans to do some housework, but spend a long time on my phone double checking my friends and family instead.

We have a State Fair going on right now, and I already was a little hesitant to go. This definitely pushes it over the edge for me. I cannot imagine losing my kid that way. It's so terribly heartbreaking.

Yep, heard that sad news that morning.
I don’t care what the motive (haven’t heard if one has been put forth yet) is, crazy is just flippin’ crazy. Again so sad. Prayers to all affected.

On a side note, we used to drive through Gilroy all the time when we lived in San Jose.
The last time we drove through there was on a road trip vacation we took back to No Cal in the summer of ‘87 (same one we stopped over at Disneyland for, and the year Star Tours opened there).
On the way in we stopped at a Denny’s (I believe it was) in Gilroy for dinner that evenin’ during the Garlic Festival and, boy howdy, the garlic was in the air..!!!

Only about 25 miles away from our home...

My youngest was my biggest bundle of joy. 8 lbs 2 oz. Labor for maybe 5 hours? I did have an epidural when I got to the hospital. (runs and hides.)

My biggest bundle was first, my DS at 9#. Some of the reasoning there is a 5 year gap between pregnancies. DD was 7.9#, much more polite to my body and I went into the hospital with I WANT AN EPIDURAL slapped to my forehead.

I think Donna would be a very nice driver, obeying the speed limits, and being courteous to other drivers. I think you should put the steering wheel back on the other side! :joyfull:

So I had to look up what the heck a boost gauge was. Do you have some sort of super turbo charged car? I read that the speed limit on Guernsey is 35 mph, so why do you need a boost gauge? :hilarious:

You didn’t ask for this explanation, but, I’m gonna’ do it anyway, ‘cause I feel the need for speed...!!!!!!! :joyfull: (which afterburners are similar to)...!!!!! :hilarious:

Simply put, a supercharger is a mechanically (belt, etc.) driven impeller that stuffs more fuel/air mixture into the combustion chamber for more power, and a turbocharger does similar with exhaust gasses exiting the combustion chamber driving the impeller. With turbochargers there is still a thing known as “turbo lag”, because the exhaust gasses can take a bit of time to get things going (think supercharger pre-combustion, turbocharger post-combustion), but, not nearly as big a problem these days after advances.
Anyway, I once drove a ‘79 Mustang Indy “Pace Car” that was turbocharged, and the “turbo lag” was very noticeable, but, once it got movin’ it was at a pretty decent pace...!!!

Anyway, for anyone who cares to read...!!! :)
