I don't mean to be a downer,.... but did everyone see the mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival? We used to go to that almost every year as kids. I woke up this morning with plans to do some housework, but spend a long time on my phone double checking my friends and family instead.

We have a State Fair going on right now, and I already was a little hesitant to go. This definitely pushes it over the edge for me. I cannot imagine losing my kid that way. It's so terribly heartbreaking.

It's fun that you will be able to travel to some interesting places for the competitions. Hopefully you will be able to do a little touring in those areas as well. That kind of stinks about that other mom, but some people are just that way. I agree the best thing you can probably to do her is kill her with kindness especially around others so when she ignores you then she looks like the mean one. 😉

Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA used to have that antique car ride. My kids enjoyed it when they were younger.

I think it has a lot to do with the college kids going back.. and high school of course. Public schools start early here, 2nd or 3rd week of August. We always had a 2 week gap in summer camp as a result. The private schools start later..staggering until the last one starts after Labor Day.

KI hours are til 10pm with the fireworks show every night. Then they switch to 8pm during the week- no fireworks. 10pm fri-sat with fireworks. The other change is less and less vendors are open, and a lot less shows.

I can’t even comprehend this. I know people who have been married, divorced, and remarried all in the time that I’ve been single.

9 years now and I’m still not ready for a serious relationship.. or any at all.

I saw that on the news this morning, it's so terrible. I just can't imagine what those people that were at the festival were going through. :cry: Any of these types of events makes me think about what could happen in public, but it isn't practical to be afraid. With so many school shootings I wouldn't be able to do my job if I hid out. I am hopeful that people are generally good people but I try to stay alert just in case.

No, I am sad to read this. I definitely knew about the garlic festival. Gilroy is famous for the garlic it produces.

Different strokes for different folks. You also have T full time and that makes a huge difference because he's a constant companion. I don't fault anyone for wanting companionship.

With me, it's usually someone I know, and it's thinking nine or ten times about whether I actually want to talk to them.

Unless it's my mother. I know better than to ignore her phone calls.

For sure, and I think 9 years is not the norm... but I see so many people in serious relationships within a year or so of a separation, sometimes less than that. That’s always a bit shocking to me. I wonder if they’ve taken the time to know themselves properly again, or if it’s codependency. There was a time when I dated, a few years ago.. or at least attempted to, but this crossed my mind a lot with guys I met who were recently divorced. Dating in your 20s is definitely different than dating in your mid-late 30s! I’m in fear of codependent people.lol

Not accusing your ex of that, just something that I think about maybe because I was so different during the period after my marriage was over. Being a single mom is the largest reason for not dating now, but after a break up I also need time for me. I’m a little weird though.lol
