Our oldest dog passed away early this morning. She at least died peacefully in the place she loved. I am guessing she was not doing well at all when I brought her to the vet Thursday. I am just glad that she went on her own terms instead of us getting faced with the decision of putting her down. We are taking her to get cremated this morning. 😪

Oh no. I had an awful feeling that when you didn't give us an update from the recent vet's visit, that maybe something had gone wrong. So sorry to hear that she had to be put down. That must be heartbreaking for you and the family. :(

The car I have now is the first car I’ve ever owned with a key fob. I also have a separate old-school key. Replacement batteries for fobs are relatively inexpensive, but, a replacement fob and programming it are up around a coupla’ hundred dollars, at least...

If I ever lose it, or it breaks, I’ll just use the old-school key like I’ve always done with all my other vehicles over the years...!!! :)

If I'm not mistaken, some of the newer cars now have only keyless entry. I'm not a fan of that--prefer to have a Plan B at all times, no matter what the situation. (I always assume that eventually things break or malfunction, and I don't like to only have one option. Not having an actual key for backup makes no sense to me.) :banghead:

I am now going to vent. I brought youngest to cheer practice today. Evaluations were posted on the website. As expected my dd was moved up to the next age group. Now all the kids were given numbers, so their numbers were posted next to the team they were going to be on. This mom I don’t like, and after what I tell you, for good reason, takes her phone and talks to this other mom and says “so and so is this number and is on this team”. Apparently she took a picture of the attendance sheet from yesterday that had all the kids names with their numbers next to their names. She starts talking about who will be on what team! Then she writes everyones name down to figure out the roster. Is that just wrong? Or what? I am so ticked off right now and I don’t know if I should tell the coach. I am the only other parent here so if I tell and the coach discusses this in a meeting she will know that I told. I am fuming. The nerve of this woman. I was too shocked to even say something directly to her, plus with my dog passing I need to be careful with what I say. There will be 16 or 17 on the team which is big. There were 9 last year. So she asked me “what do you think?” 16 kids. I said “That’s fine” (in an uninterested way). She said “Are you not happy about that?” I said “It’s fine. I am just thinking of something else.” I kept myself from snapping.
{{HUGS}} I think you should let it go just so you don't have to deal with any fall out, but I always have a loaner frying pan at the ready:angelic:

Enjoy, but don't misplace it. Those things are EXPENSIVE to replace. I far prefer an actual metal key to open and close the car door. (Metal key is about $2.50. :p )
I've never not had a key fob. One time my battery ran out on the key fob and one of my friends had to show me how to open the door. Ya know, clueless teen who was way too used to technology.:hilarious: I did replace the battery, but oh boy was I obviously a millennial right then

My current car has keyless entry. I really don't miss using a regular key. I don't have to take my keys out of my purse. I just open the door, push the button to start, and then when I get out, the car locks once I move ten feet away. I only take my keys out when I lock/unlock the door to the house. It's also "idiot proof". One time I stuck my bag with my keys in the trunk accidentally and tried to close it...car was like, "Nope" and the truck popped right back open. It also won't lock if you hit the lock thing on the inside of door when the car door is open. You have to press the button on the outside of the door, use the fob, or walk ten feet away.

My mom's car is the only one out of our three without the push-button start. When I occasionally have to use her car, I tell myself several times that I have to put the key in the ignition...and inevitably still reach for the non-existent button.

So sorry. Losing a pet is rough.

My boss the other day at work locked his keys in the car. He asked us if we had metal hangers so he could open it. Through talking, I found out he had a Honda under warranty and let him know that Honda offers free roadside assistance during your initial warranty period, including if you lock your keys in the car. He called Honda and they came and unlocked his car. But that would have been the next suggestion...

Sorry to hear this and I understand terrible this is. I came from a family of dog owners till I was 6 or 7 years old. My parents had to deal with two things.

I had to deal with we had to sell our dog due to my younger brother and I had developed allergies to pets including dogs. We sold the dog when my younger brother was 3. She was a great dog that was very smart, loved kids, really likes to be petted by guests in house, and likes to protect the family. Everyone in the family loved her. We made sure she was given a good home. She went to a home of a family with young kids and the wife was a veterinarian.

My parents also had to deal the choice of putting a dog down when when my mom was pregnant with my younger brother and it was a very difficult thing. I don't remember the dog since I was 2 going on 3 at the time. What I know my parents had the dog to put to sleep. The dog was 12 years old and my parents found out she had cancer from the vet.

What my parents looked at is they were told the surgery was going to be expensive in 1980s standards and the dog was going to be miserable for rest of her life after the surgery for cancer. My parents did not want to see their dog suffer for rest of its life after surgery. My parents decided to buy a dog with it being my parents last dog ever.
I am so sorry. Sending lots of love and prayers your way ❤
I am so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to your family. ❤
Thank you.

I'm so very sorry {{HUGS}} from the Figgy clan to yours xoxo
Oh my. So very sorry to hear this.
A least she passed surrounded by love, in a loving home, instead of having to be put down.
Our dog PJ (dog #2, we now have dogs 9 & 10) went the same way sleeping on a blanket next to our bed sometime during the night. He wasn’t feeling well the night before, we loved up on him as much as was reasonably possible at the time, and were going to take him to the vet the next morning. But, when I got up the next morning, he had passed.

He is buried in our back yard along with 4 other dogs (one that we inherited from my BIL the vet disposed of and the other 2 were cremated and youngest DD keeps their ashes in her room).

Again, so very sorry to hear this sad news.
Pups really become such a part of our lives.
Prayers that you all are doing as well as can be expected during this time.
Thank you.

Ugh! Horrible woman. I almost wish we didn’t have to see other parents at tryout result time.. it would be so much less stress and drama!
I’m still in shock that we received rosters yesterday before we even accepted our offers. I didn’t share mine but other people did via our team app.

Are you and that woman on the same team this year?
What a terrible woman. Good for you for not snapping at her. Part of me says go ahead and chat with the coach because who cares what she thinks. But another part of me says just let it go.
I ratted. I couldn’t take it. I also found out that this lady wasn’t the only one who did it.
