There still are plenty of great Disney CM’s. We do tend to focus on that not so Disney CM’s. I know I am guilty of that. This was a great story.

Yep, Ashley was AWESOME!!!!!!! :joyfull:
I’m tryin’ to think if I’ve ever even had a complaint regarding a personal experience with a CM...? 🤔
May have at some point, but, I really don’t know when or where it would have been.
However, I do have 2 more fun stories about good/fun CM interaction...
On one of our last summer trips in either ‘12 or ‘13 (can’t remember which :cyclops:) we were in MK on our last night and realized we had yet to ride PPF...!!!!!
We made a beeline for the attraction only to find a standby wait of 90 mins....!!!!!!!
One of the CMs working the attraction overheard us talking about how it was our last night and we couldn’t have a trip without riding PPF at least once, but, it was just too late and too long of a wait. He came over and asked if it was really our last night and we hadn’t ridden it yet on the whole weeklong trip. We confirmed both and told him we had no more Park days and would be spending the next morning in DTD and then catching the Tragical Express at 2p.
He told us to hold on and then went to talk to another CM. The next thing we know he’s wavin’ us over and said with a wink to us and the other CM “This is my aunt Ethel, my uncle Herbert, and my cousins, and this is there last night!” He then let us through the gate at the front of the the attraction and we got directly on the ride...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:
We felt a little bad, but, not too much...we weren’t complainin’ loudly or angrily, and it was just so out-of-the-blue, but, so AWESOME of that CM...and we have yet to not have at least one ride on PPF for every trip...!!!!!
The other good/fun CM interaction was when We got off of ToT after a ride on our June of ‘13 trip, and the CM that was there (I also shared this in the Disney Details photo thread) at the exit was the guy that Disney used in advertising for the attraction on TV and all!!! DWifey was waiting for us at the exit, and I walked over to her and said “That’s the guy!!!!!” to which she replied “What guy?!”
I asked her to follow me to see if I could get a pic with him before she saw him and realized why I got a bit excited...!!!!! :hilarious:
I politely asked him if I could get a pic with him, and without breaking character, he replied “Oooooof cooouuurssse”...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Here’s the pic...!!!!! :)

Was T cut?

No. Honestly I’m not even upset that he didn’t move up, I actually don’t want him to until we get to 13U. He plays too many other sports than to add 2 more tournaments per season. One kid did move up who wasn’t even on the list of 3 kids recommended to move up, which doesn’t make any sense at all.

What I’m upset about is watching so many people get blindsided over the past 2 years. Getting cut is part of competitive sports, getting cut when you and your parents had no idea that there was even a possibility of getting cut, that’s where it’s too cutthroat for me.
Basically, if you’re in the top half of your team you should be safe, bottom half at risk.. but the kids who are cut were also in the top half. It’s so sad. No one is safe apparently.

I had emailed a competitor club and they gave T a private tryout out with some of their players earlier.. they gave him an offer, but he won’t take it. I tried to convince him. He won’t leave his best friend, and a couple of other boys. He says he loves his club and wouldn’t play anywhere else.
So much of me wants to override his decision, but I just can’t right now.

I’m hoping to convince the 3 amigos (more accurately, their parents) to switch next year. One is having the same thoughts as me, I’m sure we could pull the other one. The question is- would it really be much different??

HEY!!! I resemble that remark. And get off my lawn.

I remember the advancement of technology in things as basic as music. When I was young, radio's were AM only and all "record players" were mono and still had the 78 speed choice on them. Then we got transistor radio's that you could carry with you. The sound was awful, but, it was so cool to have one. Stereo recordings started to be sold and radio's went to a choice of AM or FM Stereos. TV's were small screened at first, and remained relatively small even though home TV's were packaged in designer cabinets about the size of a small car. (TV repair people actually came to your house to replace a vacuum tube in a broken TV, which was a regular occurrence.) Then Color TV came out. Those required constant color adjusting but still ended up with different shades of green faces of the people. Now I have a 50 inch HD TV with a picture that is as clear as reality.

Cars upgraded to AM/FM radio's but, not usually stereo. Then someone invented the "boom box", that had AM/FM and in stereo as well as much more powerful and better sound. Compared to today's, they sucked. I should add that they had the ability to play 8 tract and cassette in that order. Heck my first car player that I bought when I was on RR in Japan, played both in the same slot. A very clever design that when you put an 8 track in the cassette player collapsed to allow the bigger thing to be put in and vise versa when you wanted to play a cassette. It was an incredible design but, was a victim of it's own cleverness. To many moving parts so it didn't take to long to fall apart.

After that things happened way to fast to keep up with. Beta and VCR's came out for home viewing. Cars now had a slot in the radio face for an 8 track tape with recorded music in a big loop. That didn't last long before cassettes were used and had much more convenience and better sound. Cars then switched to the cassette player. 8 tracks were officially dead and even cassettes started to feel threatened by a new kid in town called a CD. If you owned a car with a cassette player, you could buy a CD player that had a plug in for the car that looked exactly like a cassette. Don't know how it worked, but, it was quite good. But talk about distractions when you tried to change the CD in the player (battery operated) that was sitting on the "Bench seat" next to you.

As little as 2 or so years ago, almost all cars came equipped with CD players built into the radio. My Cadillac had a 6 CD holder/player that was so great since you could load up the cartridge and play six albums without having to change them. Changing them did require stopping because the holder/player was in the glove compartment so you better like the choices you made. Without my knowledge they did away with that and the new car I just leased had no CD location, but, had a USB port and SD card port. I now have my Beatle music and other music with a melody, that are not that of people yelling and cursing, on a single SD card that can hold 2000 of my favorites. Complete with menu's and presented in an organized form. For each one I was totally bewildered about how to make it all work. I asked around, experimented on my computer and figured out how to transfer to the SD and have it take up the space of a postage stamp. I admit to being apprehensive about this stuff, but, once I figure it out it is just nothing short of a miracle.

And don't get me started on cell phones. A very short while ago you had a phone in your house, pay phones outside if you needed to contact someone on their stationary phone. You had to memorize phone numbers or make a list that you carried with you. Figure out the area you were calling and determine if it was considered long distance or not. And as a plus that tiny little computer that we carry around with us, can contact and display almost everything known to mankind. One cannot really appreciate the present without having lived the past. Wow... technology, despite some of the problems that it creates is absolutely awesome.

Sorry about the length, I got carried away again!

Although not as “mature” ;) as yourself, I remember most of what you posted about...
Record players that still had the 78 setting on them, transistor AM radios, 8-track tapes, cassettes, payphones, etc.
For the longest time we only ever had one plain black desktop rotary phone, one black and white TV with tubes, a cabinet “stereo” in the living room, etc.
Even career-wise when I explain to younger coworkers how we used to do ALL design and drafting in lead and ink on drafting tables, they just can’t fathom it...there were no “stretch”, “copy”, etc., commands like in CAD...erasing and redrawing was our “stretch”, and drawing more was our “copy”, etc.,...!!!!!!! :joyfull::D:hilarious:;):)

The leaps and bounds in tech of all kinds, even in my short 56+ years, have, indeed, been nothing short of amazing to see...!!!!! :)
I still don’t have my “promised” self-driving hovercar, but, my iPhone is indispensable, IMHO...!!!!!!! :joyfull:;):)

I tried to convince him. He won’t leave his best friend, and a couple of other boys. He says he loves his club and wouldn’t play anywhere else.
So much of me wants to override his decision, but I just can’t right now.

This paragraph speaks volumes. I admire a young guy that values his teammates and holds friendships more dear than abandoning his friends, team and teammates for a new team that could likely be much of the same. Loyalty and solid friendships are of great value.

If it is about what he wants (and it is a sport) He seems to be a young man that wants some control in these decisions that are about him and a sport. Question. Was he happier playing against his friends and against his school or did he wish he could have played with his friends on his own school team? And is it a one time only you will overrule him in a sport or a pattern he is going to have to learn to deal with? Is it with that?

I raised two kids in competitive sports. I tried to make it about them and not me in club level sports. I saved the overruling for things that were of greater concern than sports. Rarely did I play that Mom Card so it was respected when I did.

Unfortunately, we haven't totally resolved the problem yet, but, I am an eternal optimist. (sometimes) I've had the clear contacts a number of times and they were almost like a miracle. But, they were only for the purpose to healing the cornea. When we took them out, the problem was still there. My worst experience what when I woke up with one and since I knew what it was I immediately jumped in my car and headed to the VA eye clinic. This particular one caused massive sensitivity to light. Any bright light would shoot a sharp pain into my head. I went before day light, but, the oncoming headlights practically killed me. I didn't want to think about what sunrise would do to it.

Wow. Hope they can figure out somethin’ that will take care of it soon!!!!!
I don’t remember any sensitivity to light, but the discomfort/pain was pure, toturous, hell.
Every time I blinked it was like sand paper bein’ scraped over my eyeball, I couldn’t go into REM sleep (I couldn’t sleep at all mostly anyway) because the pain from all the eye movement kept me from it.
It’s amazing just how many nerve ending/pain receptors are in a cornea.
People who’ve never had an eye injury will never know, but, boy howdy, it can be flippin’ insane...!!!!!!!!!!! :eek:o_O;)

I enjoy the Beach Boys as well. As a teen, I begged my parents to take me to Great Adventure ( a Six Flags Amusement park if you don’t know) to see them give a concert.

The one and only time we saw The Beach Boys was at a summer concert that myself, DWifey, and both DDs worked...NO JOKE!!!!!!! :joyfull:
An old HS friend of mine that owns a watercraft rental place (that I worked at just for grins on Saturdays one summer many years ago - another story altogether - damn I’ve really lived a pretty fun life...!!!!!!! :joyfull:) down on our local Lake Travis, used to also be a partner in owning the Carlos’n Charlie’s that used to be on the lake (another story - one year the floods affected it, then the droughts did for a few years, and they ended up having to close that location permanently, unfortunately :(. We went on the last night they were open to say goodbye).
Anyhoo, the ladies were takin’ tickets and such, and I was workin’ “security”...essentially, watchin’ the back gate with another dude where the band came in.
Got to meet them, which was very cool, but, only Mike Love, and either Bruce Johnston or Al Jardine were there with him (can’t remember which ), and one if their sons was either playing guitar or bass.
It was an awesome show and an awesome experience that my friend gave us to let us meet them and chat for a bit...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::happy:

We were scheduled to also work an REO Speedwagon (and some other 80’s band that I can’t remember :hilarious:) show there on July 4th that year, but, that’s the year the floods came and it had to be cancelled...the concrete stage out back was under 12 ft. of water...!!!!!!!
(Another story, but that location flooded once before years ago when it was another establishment, and then when it was redone - coincidentally, with the help of the same engineer that engineered our firms office building, they made it where it would float in a flood, so there was minimal damage, but, nobody could get to it).

We did work one other show before The Beach Boys that summer, which was really fun...it was these guys, and they put on one awesome show...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::happy:
