@Rista1313 , the incognito setting worked for me to get to the plain-colored bands! Woohoo! It took me a bit to figure out how to get it to go incognito, and of course then I had to sign into my MDE account, but it worked. Now I just need to hear from DH what color he wants and I can complete the order. Thanks for the tip!
Yay! Disney friends are the best.

Oh wow...that is so....WRONG! What do they expect? It's his CHOICE not to drive? And how exactly would they expect him to be a barback if he can't see to maneuver around people/tables/obstacles. Like..."Oh hey, see that guy there in the blue shirt with the levis logo on it? Oh, wait....no, you can't see. Just bring this over there to the left and try not to trip." What an unempathetic hag!
Is there a limit or restriction on how many times or how often you can apply for disability? Not everyone can AFFORD a lawyer, and especially people who can't WORK! How do they expect someone who can't work to be able to pay for a lawyer? Lawyers are for when you've been involved in a crime, whether as the pertetrator or as the victim....you shouldn't be treated like a criminal because you are disabled. You shouldn't NEED a lawyer! I'm so sorry this was your experience. Hopefully his vision clears up fast and he can get back to doing what he loves and doesn't need to deal with these same people if he needs disability in the future.
For Disability, the lawyer doesn't get paid until he wins the disability for you, and then it comes out of your settlement.

Sorry that you went through that. I'm relieved to hear that eventually he did get his disability. Key to a lot of this is to get a lawyer, as you indicated. May be up front cash to shell out, but often a favorable resolution will follow for the long run.

We didn't have to pay upfront, the lawyer doesn't get paid until he wins the case.. then it's percentage of your back pay settlement 25% or $6000 whichever is more. (I said $3k yesterday, I was wrong) So someone could end up paying if they don't get very much back pay, but too be honest, it's worth it for a lifetime of benefits.

Well, good for T, entering 4th grade in the fall. :)

What surprised me was the pool party for his grade -- he's so lucky! When I was in grade school, we never got fun pool parties at the end of a school year. As I recall the bell rang at 2:30 PM, and we all left the school for the summer. (P.S.: The nuns weren't exactly party animals ... :hilarious: )

Last day of school is 10am dismissal, the pool party is put on by a family, not the school! A girl in T’s grade has an amazingly large pool area at their house, the mom invites the kids (with a chaperone) every year, she’s been doing it since K!

I’m trying to convince my son to leave our soccer club. He says no right now, but I’ve emailed another club and asked if he could have a private tryout or assessment with the team (all regular tryouts are now over).

We’ve been so lucky with parents on our team the last 2 years.. but I just can’t handle the politics and decisions of the club at tryouts. Once again half of our team was cut, and shouldn’t have been. Only 1 was recommended to be cut. The coach didn’t even have the final say!! How can a team grow together if they do this every year based on tryouts alone??

I’m so over it. I’d rather find a club who wants a team to stay together as much as possible. I’m learning that the big fancy clubs may not be the best choice overall.

I think you are going to have to call, or end up with Gray bands at the resort...

We ended up with gray MBs on our last trip in Feb. of ‘16 for the Princess 5K.
We got our pretty-colored bands in the mail right on time, we packed everything up for the trip a coupla’ day’s before, and were set...!!!
Only to realize when we got there that the only thing we forgot was the MBs...!!!!!!! :hilarious:
Gray ones from the resort it was...!!!!! :D
But, in our defense, it was our first and only trip with MBs, as we had not been there since June of ‘13...!!! ;):)

All that try out stuff at such a young age makes me sad. I grew up in a small town and now live in a smaller town, but with those experiences any kid who wanted to play gets to play on the team. Some kids may have gotten and get more playing time based on skill but nobody is turned away. When high school rolls around things are divided into freshmen level (if enough kids come out that are freshmen) but for sure JV and Varsity which usually goes by age and skill (if a younger kid is good they get bumped to Varsity). I realize that bigger towns and bigger schools can't all operate that way but at least it is nice for the younger kids to be able to participate if they want and develop skills and a love for a game without a lot of pressure. But that's my two cents.

Ha I told my mom the same thing after the fiasco with her marriage certificate. I really like my last name anyway, and unless I were to change my first name, I'll be forever telling people how to spell my name unless I were to also change my first name. Which is tempting, but no. But my last name is pronounced like it's spelled, it's easy to spell, and it's unusual. So people usually haven't heard it before but get how to say it.

Except for the staff at the lab where I get my blood drawn. Last time I was Mary. Today I was Marsha. Neither one is my name.
Sounds like your lab is full of ex starbucks assistants ;)

Finally got A's exam results in the mail today! He got a perfect score, which I was already kind of half expecting. He did a different exam than DD's school used, but on the bi-annual exams, he always scored the same way she did, and she got a perfect score on hers last year, so I figured there was a good chance that he'd do the same. It doesn't really matter because his school doesn't offer the top level and there's no way we're sending him back to regular school so he can do the highest level. But it's nice for him that he has the score finally, and that he doesn't have to feel any sort of competition with DD. They both got the highest possible scores on their respective tests, so they can be really proud of themselves and how hard they worked.
How awesome 👏🏻

View attachment 377572 Today plan A yoga walking and a bit of sewing, in other words a nice easy slow day, doing what I want when I want. I even have enough left overs for the boys to eat today:eek: Change of plans my dh and the guys he works with are going to have a BBQ and grilling cookoff Saturday and made no provisions for any food other than meat, guess who was asked to make some healthy sides:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: I was going to say no but he's taking my boys with him:joyfull:

BBQ...!!!!!!! :hungry:

Is the remote for the husband, or the TV................or both...?!?!?!!!!!!! :cautious::D:hilarious:;)

For some reason, this reminds me...
At one point, about 20 years ago, I was drawing greeting cards and single-panel gag cartoons (on my own time) to see if I could sell any.
The closest I got to selling one was a panel cartoon I did with an obvious volume k n o b on the side of a kids head, so the parents could turn their “volume” down, with the caption below... “Every parents dream!” ...I knew that because, when the magazine sent them (I sent them a few - I remember one of the others was about “helicopter parents” flying in an actual helicopter over their neighborhood bullhorning their kiddo to come home, which I thought was funnier ;) - don’t remember the rest, as I’ve slept since then, but, they’re all in a file drawer somewhere ;)) back with a nice rejection letter, they made a point to tell me that they almost bought the one with the yellow Post-It on it...!!!!!!! :hilarious:
I can’t even remember the family mag I submitted to, but, they also only payed about $50 (may have been only $35 🤔) per cartoon IIRC...so, the career math just didn’t work out, even if I became semi-well-known...but, it sure was fun to try...!!!!!!! :joyfull::happy:;):)

We have recreational soccer here too. Those do not require tryouts and all can play. The big difference with select/travel is more training, more games, and kids who absolutely want to be there, as well as similar skill level with each other and their competition.

T is devastated, he thought he was moving up. I was told that he was on the list to move up, and he’s not. I told him to keep working at it and he’ll get to where he wants to be, plenty of time!

I honestly hate the way tryouts are handled, people are blindsided left and right., all parents should have an idea where kids stand prior to tryouts. It’s heartbreaking when you don’t see a cut coming. I don’t like the lack of communication and blindsides that I’ve witnessed now for the 3rd tryout year.. it’s a little too cutthroat for my taste. Pick the best, sure.. but talk to the parents about where their kid stands before it happens. They are SUPPOSED to take the entire year into account with current players.. but now for the 3rd time I’m seeing that’s not true for all. Current players shouldn’t be judged solely on tryouts.

We get our licenses right away here in PA. By the way I got emailed from Geico today about them wanting to speak to me. They wanted to know if my oldest dd had her license yet. I said no, and then the rep discussed an umbrella policy. Right now we have 100k:300k coverage. They recommended the umbrella for 1 million. They said it is good to do that when you have a young driver. It would be $242 for a year. Is this something normally done or is it a money grab? Were you offered this @SteveBrickNJ ?

Probably already been answered, but, cute name for a cash-grab... :cautious:;)

Since 2002, we have only missed not going one year. That was 2007.

July of ‘07 was actually one of the years we went. Oldest DD had her Sweet 16 birthday there during our trip, and it was amazing...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
We were there for a week, and her birthday was 2 days after we arrived. We were in a family suite at ASM. I went down to the concierge desk shortly after we arrived to ask them if I could pay for some stuff that they could put in our room for her special day when we came back to take an afternoon “break” on her special day. Ashley, from Houston, Texas, told me it would be taken care of and I could pay later...cool...!!! :)
That morning, after the old train station opening show, we were at the front of the line when an elderly CM noticed her birthday button, and got the whole group (a ton of people) to sing happy birthday to her...it was a hoot-and-a-half...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Later that day when we took our afternoon “break” back at ASM, I couldn’t believe what I saw when we entered the room...
Half-a-dozen red roses in a vase, a Minnie Mouse t-shirt, several balloons, a card from Cinderella, 3 key chains, a Minnie Mouse plush...and I think there was a coupla’ other things that I can’t remember now... 🤔
Anyway, I snuck back down to the concierge desk hoping to see Ashley, but, she was off that day (just wanted to know how much I owed her), only to find out later when we were checkin’ out of the resort that she payed for it all with her CM discount and wouldn’t accept a dime from us...such an amazing CM...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull:
That was one Magical trip all the way around...!!!!!!!!!!!
