That's funny. I don't even know where my original birth certificate is. I have two copies that are from 1997. I was born in 1995. My mom also has a copy of hers from 1997, so idk what happened in 1997. Neither does Mom. And sadly, my middle name is definitely my middle name.

We did our TSA pre check a couple of weeks ago, and my mom could not locate her marriage certificate. My dad, who probably could locate a receipt for a hot dog he bought in WDW in 1986, misplaced their marriage certificate. Which then spawned jokes about how he can't ever say he never misfiled papers, and of course me questioning if they were indeed married.

My dad did end up finding it...after my mom took a trip to the DMV for a new one. Even though he has an entire file with other documents related to their wedding, he stuck it in a binder with his high school diploma, bachelor's degree, and a letter saying he'd passed the Maryland bar exam. We are not ever letting this go.

I really need to get a fireproof safe for that kind of stuff. I also have my mom's birth certificate and death certificate. My mom died when I was 15, and at some point my Grandma gave it to me before she passed away, just in case I ever needed it. So far, I've never needed it.

@MinnieM123 the Britannia is the biggest we will see this year.

In the 2nd photo (Sapphire Princess group), those two ships are a little too close to one another for comfort. ;) But I see in the final photo that all ships in all groupings separated safely. I'm assuming you must have been waving frantically at them from the shoreline, and they saw your warning, just in time?! :p Mr. Ferret saves the day!! :joyfull:

I always wonder how that small island of @Mr Ferret 88 can handle all those masses of people when they hit the island. The population must increase by a large percentage albeit for a short time. I assume the island is dependent on tourism so it is probably a welcome increase.

Mr Ferret 75

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

It gets very crowded in the main town area . But the rest of the island gets on as normal.
Tourism isn't as big of a thing as in the seventies and eighties. Nowadays it is finance and tax breaks that is our main export.

I did notice that the bathrooms were a bit messier than I remember. I always wonder how people treat their own bathrooms at home and if they are as disgusting in their own homes. I do think the school groups are a problem when it comes to bathroom cleanliness as well.
There is that, however, frankly I am always amazed at men's rooms. It's like every single male has never seen a flush toilet and only used outhouses. Unless they are the automatic flush they just plain never flush the toilet. Is it that hard a job or are they so germaphobic that they would rather leave their waste for others to take care of? There really is no excuse for that kind of behavior from men. Kids maybe, but, this isn't just kids and even then they must have been taught better.

If the automatic flush system doesn’t flush by the time I leave a stall, I will take a piece of toilet paper and use it to push the button. The bathrooms were the worst by Morocco on this trip. I really don’t get why others think it’s ok to leave a stall when a toilet has not flushed. It’s just common courtesy. Besides, who really wants others to see what “presents” they left in a bowl?

I’ve had corneal abrasions twice. The second time I knew the routine, so it wasn’t nearly as stressful, but the first time was pure hell.
It happened in the afternoon and just got progressively worse, to the point where I got absolutely no sleep that night (I didn’t even know what was wrong yet, as I could still see just fine except for all the tearing from the pain.
Called out of work and got an appt. with my GP first thing the next morning. He numbed it up with some drops, did a quick exam, said I have a scratched cornea, patched it up, and said it should be fine by the next morning. I got almost no sleep again that night and it wasn’t better. When I called his office he called an ophthalmologist to get me in right away.
She gave me the numbing drops again (they will only do that for your exam, as it’s similar to a football player gettin’ a shot for pain and goin’ back on the field and doin’ further damage because the drugs masked the pain - has anybody else here ever seen “North Dallas Forty”? ;)), did a thorough exam, and said it was a corneal abrasion...a scratch or cut would have healed much quicker.
She put a cream in my eye, patched it up real tight and told me to go home and only watch TV for the next 2 days...no reading, or anything that would make my eyes move around too much.
2 days later in the shower I took the patch off and started to panic...that eye was like looking through wax paper!!!!!
I made a quick call to the ophthalmologists office and she forgot to tell me to expect the cream would sit in the abrasion before clearing up in a few days as it healed all the way...!!!!!:hilarious:
Sure ‘nough, it cleared up completely in a few days, and you can imagine what a relief that was...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Anyhoo, as I said, I knew the routine for the second occurrence, so no wax paper panic...!!! ;):)
I've had that once in my left eye (with infection) and at least 5 times in my right (no infection). All after my cataract surgeries. Before that I never had a problem. Turns out, it is an issue that is passed along in families. Gene malfunction. It has a very lengthy Latin name that I can't remember, but, it means that the cornea is unstable. I have been fighting this for over a year now in my right eye although I haven't had another abrasion for about 7 months now, but, I still have a cornea that isn't staying flat against my eye so occasionally I have this very thin gray screen the affects my eyesight. I can still see everything, except possibly minor details, but, it is like driving in a light mist situation. Everything is visible, however, just not crystal clear. They have tried many different things to see if they can chemically stabilize the cornea that have so far failed. I just started a new one with a extremely expensive eye drop that I use twice per day. If that doesn't work, they next step is called a scrape. That is where they chemically and physically scrape the first outer layer of my cornea off my eye and allow it to grow a new one. It's supposed to grow back within 4 or 5 days. Good times, but, at least I can see, I can drive and I can see my computer screen. I don't want to do anything to make it worse.

extremely expensive eye drop

We just had a $180 (with insurance) eye drop prescribed. I casually mentioned to the pharmacy clerk how crazy that was. She handed me a card from Bausch & Lomb and told me to call the number and answer the questions. I did, they pronounced the card “activated,” and I went back to the counter.

New price: $35. 😳😀🍸

That card apparently stays on Brian’s Walgreens file for future use. 🤩

He is in with the judge now re: disability. My goodness, I haven’t met a pleasant or competent person yet!

Expectations are low for today, expecting follow-ups if not an outright decline for now, because that one eye is in limbo until it heals from the surgery. We don’t know what it will be.

We have a letter from the eye doctor saying he is legally blind in the left eye.

They gave us a CD of medical records when we arrived, and told us to go into a room and review them for accuracy. But they called him in to see the judge after about 4 minutes, so we only got to look at one of the records. Interestingly, we learned that one doctor declared him legally blind in one eye back in 2015.

Crossing my fingers and toes for you. My husband had failed back surgery, and it took us 3.5 years to get him disability (with back pay) 1 decline, and 1 appearance with a lawyer and judge. The first decline happened after 9 months of waiting, and then it took 2 years to get a court date. That's of course here in Michigan. I hope your process is better!
