On the subject of good news:

After over a year-long campaign, my two record stores have been accepted into the Department of Record Stores, which is a coalition of record stores across the country. This gives us more of a voice with the record labels vs. it just being us alone. It puts us more on equal footing with large chains like Target. (So, for example, Target may work a deal with a label to get an exclusive version of the new Beyonce CD, we as a coalition can also get an exclusive version of xyz that would only be sold at member stores.)

We'll also get on the radar of more labels, adjacent businesses, etc.

Side benefit: the cost of my annual business shindig trip to New Orleans in August is completely covered - registration, hotel, airfare. (Sweet!)

I'll know more details as we go forward, but it's an honor, and I'm very relieved!

Congratulations! And woohoo for New Orleans!

Epcot is my favorite park is amazing....always if Disney doesn't ruin it. Which yes, there is hardly any rides but I like the countries. I didn't do Frozen, Nemo or Test Track. I did the Orange side of Space for the first time in a few years and loved it. My favorite ride is Living with the Land. We rode at night as well, which was kinda freaky. I loved the Moroccan standing lights but they were $65 so I'll pass for now. My favorite drink was still great, Orange Grand Marnier. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the schoolbread shrunk a little in size. You couldn't taste the cardamon that much either. However, it was Norway's Independence Day and a lot of hot Norwegians running around. The festival was good, flowers and the topiaries. The booths were okay, I didn't get as much I as used to.

Best moment was when I was walking through the shop in England and someone told a cast member that they liked the round light chandelier and how much would it be to buy that :hilarious:

Dinner was at Ale and Compass - took over Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club. Seafood pot pie was great. They go a bit overboard on the pie aspect. Epcot also had a special day for DVC members which we got one free fast food meal (I got Shrimp Noodles at the Seasons), fireworks and free Mickey bar (I passed to the being full). The fireworks were amazing. Think of a blinding white light at the grand finale. Smoke was everywhere from it including all the way to the front of the park. Only a 30 min wait during the night for Soarin.

Disney Springs was not that crowded when I went. It was amazing to see space in the main Disney store. Still not a big fan but I don't really care to shop. Had the Shrimp Mac and Cheese at the Boathouse with the best seasoning ever (Gibson's Seasoning). The restaurant seems to have more employees than they know what to do with. I wanted the Mac and Cheese at the food truck but things didn't work out.

Overall it was a good trip. Disney lacked in some painting of the walls. People said some of the bathrooms (esp in the MK) were in terrible shape but you can't expect Disney to keep up with the madness and why can't people clean up after themselves. I believe I am done for no MGM this year and I'm probably not going to Disney next year. Maybe, I'll go to Norway. I'm just a sucker for accents. German. Brits. Irish. Norway.
I did notice that the bathrooms were a bit messier than I remember. I always wonder how people treat their own bathrooms at home and if they are as disgusting in their own homes. I do think the school groups are a problem when it comes to bathroom cleanliness as well.

Well @Songbird76 I'm laughing now... because I pulled out my passport and birth certificate. This birth certificate (which was a duplicate I requested from NJ when I lost my original) say Susan K. but it turns out my original was stuck in the upper part of a dresser and my ex- MIL found it and sent it to me, and it says Susan Kay. Apparently NJ doesn't care if it's abbreviated LOL

Am I Susan Kay or Susan K? The world may never know!

I really hope he listens to you, as this is very important. Wish he wasn't working during this phase of recovery. There's a reason why they tell patients not to look up for 70% of the time, until the doctor gives a go-ahead.

The bubble is key. Good that it's going down fairly quickly, but he's still not out of the woods with it. And it also takes time for the vision to become clear again, so (from what my friend told me), that is not a concern this early, post-surgery.

I’ve had corneal abrasions twice. The second time I knew the routine, so it wasn’t nearly as stressful, but the first time was pure hell.
It happened in the afternoon and just got progressively worse, to the point where I got absolutely no sleep that night (I didn’t even know what was wrong yet, as I could still see just fine except for all the tearing from the pain.
Called out of work and got an appt. with my GP first thing the next morning. He numbed it up with some drops, did a quick exam, said I have a scratched cornea, patched it up, and said it should be fine by the next morning. I got almost no sleep again that night and it wasn’t better. When I called his office he called an ophthalmologist to get me in right away.
She gave me the numbing drops again (they will only do that for your exam, as it’s similar to a football player gettin’ a shot for pain and goin’ back on the field and doin’ further damage because the drugs masked the pain - has anybody else here ever seen “North Dallas Forty”? ;)), did a thorough exam, and said it was a corneal abrasion...a scratch or cut would have healed much quicker.
She put a cream in my eye, patched it up real tight and told me to go home and only watch TV for the next 2 days...no reading, or anything that would make my eyes move around too much.
2 days later in the shower I took the patch off and started to panic...that eye was like looking through wax paper!!!!!
I made a quick call to the ophthalmologists office and she forgot to tell me to expect the cream would sit in the abrasion before clearing up in a few days as it healed all the way...!!!!!:hilarious:
Sure ‘nough, it cleared up completely in a few days, and you can imagine what a relief that was...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Anyhoo, as I said, I knew the routine for the second occurrence, so no wax paper panic...!!! ;):)

That's funny. I don't even know where my original birth certificate is. I have two copies that are from 1997. I was born in 1995. My mom also has a copy of hers from 1997, so idk what happened in 1997. Neither does Mom. And sadly, my middle name is definitely my middle name.

We did our TSA pre check a couple of weeks ago, and my mom could not locate her marriage certificate. My dad, who probably could locate a receipt for a hot dog he bought in WDW in 1986, misplaced their marriage certificate. Which then spawned jokes about how he can't ever say he never misfiled papers, and of course me questioning if they were indeed married.

My dad did end up finding it...after my mom took a trip to the DMV for a new one. Even though he has an entire file with other documents related to their wedding, he stuck it in a binder with his high school diploma, bachelor's degree, and a letter saying he'd passed the Maryland bar exam. We are not ever letting this go.

Well she hadn’t eaten since we came back from the kennel and that was not like her. She is a little overweight and loves to eat so.... She also had a yucky odor. She does have arthritis and is 9, so I was worried. She cannot go up and down stairs anymore either. The vet said it can be normal for dogs to not be themselves after coming home from a kennel. She had lost 2 pounds which for her is a good thing. She has a skin problem which is why she stinks. So she is now on an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic. She goes back in a week for a follow-up.

Hope your pup gets well soon...!!!

Sounds like you had a great trip and some awesome food. I want to hit Compass my next trip, maybe twice 'cause I want to also try their breakfast. Where did you stay?

And what are standing Moroccan lights?

Well it sounds like good news to me. Take pictures from The Keys please and post some here! Miami may get the Super Bowl? Will you be able to go if they do? (As in getting a comped ticket. )
I continue to hope that B will heal perfectly and will be able to see the beach clearly again. Good luck with the tenting. Termites suck.

Actually, they chew.
Sorry, couldn’t resist...!!! ;)

I am also going to just wait. I am the only one if ya that wants one of the $10 ones. We have until end of Oct. I also have a box full that we both can use.

My kids each have gifted me multiple special MBs for all the holidays over the last several years and yes I did in my mind pick which $10 I would pick. I love Dory, I'm a big Ellen fan.
So waiting it out is fine, I hold out hope it will be replenished.

And I would totally do that, but small world vacations can not handle the European vacations using a European Residence Only deal. For our 2016 vacation, I even approached a travel agent here in the Netherlands to do the planning, and they didn't know about the special deals and couldn't ac
cess anything outside of their own arrangements, which were not discounted. It would cost twice what I pay for doing it myself. When there's a European-based agency that can get those discounts and such, I will gladly give them my business. Until then, I'm not paying double. I'll do it myself and deal with whatever comes.

I'm sure I missed it but did you get the payments worked out for your brother/his inlaws etc dilemma? Hope so.
