She just returned to Star Tour gift shop. CM was on medical leave for a while this year. When she returned she was temporarily in Epcot but when they transferred her and Mozart back to the Studios she was also given full time status vs PT which she was so happy about. I enjoy watching the two of them interact with guests and they pin trade while waiting for my family to come out of ST
It is my understanding Mozart was a service dog but became also a seizure alert dog after he self taught himself to notify her she was going to have a seizure.

That is the Magic of Disney. They could have walked away from that CM due to her limitations but instead hired her and then gave her FT after being out for so long. She and her Pup are beloved by guests and fellow cast members. Both are awesome.

Note he has his own CM ID and graduated Traditions with her.

The only problem at AK lodge is that the pool opens at 9 (fenced in). A problem when you run in the morning and have an hour to kill. But the pool was pretty much and everyday thing due to going to the parks later on in the day. MK was super crowded everyday we went. The kind of crowds were you hate people. It is really sad how people are waiting night parade style, 2 hours before the fireworks (which twice I did not bother to stay and see)

The Plaza was for dinner. I had a good meal (Lobster Salad but they failed to put the egg in) but my sisters meals was blah. Bacon was way undercooked. My favorite sit down meal was Liberty Tree. Went for lunch and it was good timing due to a monsoon. Lobster Poached Egg hamburger, messy, huge but so good. I had Citrus Swirl 3 times :hungry:. We also went to the Grand Cafe for dinner. I had a lobster burger (only had 2 burgers but that was enough). Pales in comparison to my first. Coming back to the MK, they only had 3 lines open so that took time. You think they would have more lines open. Another food place was the Poly fast food place. I had seafood pizza,, which was good but I wished they cooked the crust more.

Oh there was a theme park. Crowds and hot. I also don't like how Disney does some lines (aka Haunted Mansion after you come out of the room). Otherwise it was the same typical MK. Still horrible at Buzz Lightyear. Saw about a dozen cast members take out the cars.

MK is not the best for snacks and food. There's is a whole donut maddness going on too. I think the quality of the foods have gone downhill overall in the parks. Once again, it was tough for my to get a drink around the parks. Stupid soda and Dasani.

So I really need to vent about getting older! Just had my annual eye exam. I only wear glasses for up close work like reading, puzzles, computer, phone, etc. You get the picture. Well, I had some floaters back in Dec that were in my left eye that occurred after some flashes of light. I ran to see one of the doctors, and she couldn't find anything wrong. Ok I have had floaters before so I can deal with them.
Well, my left eye has been bothering me a bit the last several weeks when I read. So, today he said my left eye was 3x worse than last year. Grrr... a new prescription so I can see better, new glasses. Then, I had to go through a baseline scan of my optic nerves to see if there is damage. I will hear from the nurse to see what showed up. It seems like the older you get, there is something else to have to worry about. Ok vent over. :banghead:

If it makes you feel any better, my Brian got a bleed in his better eye about two months ago. That instantly made him mostly blind. After two needles in the eye that didn't help, he just had a vitrectomy (surgery) on that eye a week ago. He's currently laying face-down 23 hours a day and still can't see much. Second follow-up visit with the surgeon is tomorrow.

There's a gas bubble in the eye that takes weeks to dissipate, so we won't really know if the surgery worked until that happens. He can see some light now, so that is promising. Believe it or not, I drove him to a job interview today. The man does not stop.

A friend loaned us a massage table (with the hole in it to put your face) and a matching chair. I put a small flat screen TV under his face, and he can watch enough to make out shapes and some detail (mainly from the other eye, which was already bad.)

We were supposed to go up to WDW on Friday just for the Illuminations dining package at Rose & Crown, but that's looking extremely unlikely. I'm waiting until after the doc appt tomorrow to cancel (tomorrow is the last day to cancel and still get a refund.)

Not much point taking him to see Illuminations if he can't see it!

Overall, I'm hopeful - this procedure has a high success rate. We'll see how it goes.

Did you get the lobster tails at Epcot? I enjoyed those. I'm a bit of a lobster nut.

Oh my, I hope the surgery goes well. That must be really scary for both of you.

I actually like tofu! Especially as part of an Asian stir-fry, etc. It just has to be seasoned properly. General Tso’s tofu is very good, and I have to think less processed than newer “fake meats” (that have better consistency.)

Then again, I get High cholesterol from breathing and blinking, so I’d better like it.

Doctor just gave me 12 pills - take one a week to lower cholesterol and get retested in August. I haven’t taken any. Going to try zero animal products and alcohol for the three weeks before the test (and less than usual- which is already low - for the whole time) plus I’ve already been back on my workout schedule for about 6 or 8 weeks and seeing results. That’s supposed to help.

I like tofu. I especially like it plain, if it's added to a salad for example. I've also had tofu cheesecake--that's good, too! :hungry:

Thanks!

We are back and forth between getting prepared for life to change drastically vs. not accepting anything happening yet. (And we just don't know yet so there's no point over-stressing about it!)

He has a disability hearing in a few days. That's hard, he doesn't want to be "disabled." He wants to work. He's had type I diabetes since age 10, and has always been very resistant to saying any physical issues were because of the diabetes. But, reality is reality.

I had to have some conversations with him about accepting help, etc. That's what I'm here for. That's my job.

Hopefully - and I think this is likely - he will be back to his previous level of function (able to drive again, etc.) in a few weeks or by July at the latest.

Those flashes of light were the beginning of my 3 year struggle to get my normal vision back again. (still not completely accomplish, but, it does seem to be getting better) They usually get really concerned with the light flash because it is sometimes connected to a partial or complete retina detachment or one on the way. Where I go, (the VA) they checked me out for that initially and I had to return again in 3 months to check again. If nothing happened then they just go back to the normal yearly thing unless there is another bout of light flashing that happens. Age has robbed me of a lot of things so I try and stay real vigilant about my vision.

I have found that the older I get the more variety and quantity of problems that arise. It gets to the point where you get up and say to yourself.... "now let's see, is this something I can wait a few days and see if it will go away or should I go straight to the ER". 🤔😷

A good friend of ours had the same eye operation about 2 years ago. She had that bubble in the eye and had to look down for most of the day, for a few weeks. She also had a screen on the floor to watch TV, etc. It's a lengthy recovery from that operation.

I hope it all works out for Brian. P.S.: It worked for our friend, so positive thoughts.

@Gabe1 I believe it's this one

There's a lot of similar ones on Amazon. Usually, when I sprain mine, I put it on as soon as I do it. Then I keep it on for 1-2 weeks or until I start finding it annoying. I usually wear sneakers or flip flops if I'm just running an errand or if I'm tired of sneakers. Put it on with a pair of jeans and no one suspects a thing.

Oh I don't know what to say except I am so glad that he has your support. Wow I have never heard of that happening or that procedure. I will really think of him as he goes through this procedure. Please let us know how he does and give him all our best. Sending lots of good thoughts and pixie dust his way. Thank you for telling me Tony.

I feel like that every time that I go to the doctor. 'Let's see what they find wrong today.' I keep trying to keep reminding myself that if I can't change the outcome, then try not to worry. What happens, happens. ;)
