Times were different. Now a college degree is often a step to getting an interview. I also see people my age, trying to go back to school, to get the degree they never started, or completed, so they can get a promotion or raise. Honestly, I think in a lot of cases, that is strange. One case is a guy who has been working at the company for well over ten years, and knows their operation inside and out. He is currently enrolled in classes working towards an associate degree, to move to a bachelors degree. I am sure he will be a much better worker for them, once he finishes his history class.
And, FWIW, my HS district does offer dual credit classes in association with the local community college in skilled trades. The idea is coming back.
Times were different but really not that much. There are laws in place in so many fields to be accredited. You can work in many fields, firms, schools, universities without the eduction but in most cases owners have to be degrees and accredited. Most hit a glass ceiling. You can be a book keeper but not a CPA. In a school you can shelve books but can’t be a media director. You can be a an orderly but to a registered nurse. Even our park district requires a degree in early childhood to teach preschool. Even in my sisters firm they hire assistants but they will never be lawyers and they will never be partners. They hit that glass ceiling.

The first style is what I currently have... and I use the piggy back a lot, but only because of my husbands back. He can't help me with that style because of the weight it puts on him... but with the spinner style, I think he would be able to push it and help.
As long as it is always used on a smooth surface it is fine. However get into an uneven situation and they can be a bear to maneuver especially if you have more then one. Just from my limited experience out in the street. Inside they were fine.

Why is it assumed that everyone that didn’t get a college degree of any kind wanted more than what they already have...?
What about those of us who do plenty fine without a degree, because we paid our dues otherwise...?
What about those of us who couldn’t care less about being a partner with all the responsibiliy and liability that goes along with it...?
There are tons of college-degreed folks out there that couldn’t think their way out of a wet paper sack on their best day...it’s just a piece of paper.
Even when the 2 college-degreed partners were brought on by the original partner at the firm they resented me, because I didn’t go through what they did school-wise to achieve what I did. But, sure enough, as I continued to excel at what I did for them and the money kept flowin’ in the door, that respect level changed and has only increased.
I don’t look at where I am as a “glass ceiling”, I look at it as I’m very much where I want to be. And, BTW, and again, the partners take very good care of me, because I can also do so many things that none of the younger employees can do, along with most of the things they can do. I busted my butt and take my career very seriously.
Don’t hate me or cut me down just because I didn’t give some college a buttload of money to get where I am, instead of doing it the way I did.
That’s just sad.

Has anyone noticed that people are saying the phrase “By accident”, (as in “I did that by accident, ) and are using “on” in place of “by”. I keep hearing “on accident.” Has something in the English language changed? What do you think @Mr Ferret 88 since you are close to the “Queen’s English”?
My friend who grew up in the same town as me says: "on accident" and I say "by accident". We both went to the same school district and we both now teach in that very same school district.....so why does he say "on accident" instead of "by accident"? o_OI have no explanation.
