I know my dad mentioned many years back that he got empty cigar boxes and wanted to use them for storing stuff even back when he still was a smoker. My dad was a cigarette smoker when he was a smoker before he quit in his 30s.. I'm sure most or all boxes my dad got were given to him empty since the only time he had cigars was to pass them out when my younger brother and I were born.

I remembered my dad had my younger brother and I store baseball cards in Cigar box. My parents even stored office supplies around the house in Cigar boxes including markers. When my mom was doing her one craft fair of the year, My dad had my mom use a cigar box for storing her change and dollars bills.

I know when I was a kid, we bought plenty of wooden crates with soda in them. We kept all the crates. My dad used them storing storing stuff in the crates in garage, and to store items in the pantry down the basement.

That was pretty common when I was growing up. They don't take up much room and they will hold a surprising amount of things. I have one myself with an assortment of small items that I have found worthy of keeping. I think it was a bad idea to bring up this thing because It tempted me to look in that cardboard White Owl cigar box and now I am happy and sad all at the same time. I didn't really remember what I had thrust into that box, but, it was emotionally terrible. I had kept cards. One from my wife when things were good, a few from my daughters with handwritten notes expressing their love for me (mostly given just after the divorce) and now I have tears running out of my eyes and dripping on my old man reading glasses.

I even found a picture of someone that I don't remember at all from basic training. I think that I thought it was me when I was young, but, as I looked closer, I honestly have no recollection of who the guy was or why I even had a picture of him. I'm serious. I do not have a clue who it was so it has left the cigar box and found the trash. On the good side I remembered some programs from my grandchildren. One when he made Eagle Scout and my other grandson when he was inducted into the National Honor Society. Those are joining the box.

Oh Happy Birthday to Mr. Boomer!!! I called down to the Grand Floridian today to see if they could bake him a special birthday cake, and they did. So after the show at AK tonight, hop into a Minnie Van and head over to the Grand, to Victoria and Albert's -- his cake and champagne await his arrival!! :joyfull:

@dryerlintfan I’m forwarding a question to you on behalf of my DD. She is making seed and dried fruit pieces in snack packs bags that are about 2 x 4 inch. She only has found shelled pumpkin and sunflower seeds. She is wondering if there other snacking seeds out there and if there is where you buy the seeds for your DD.
