I learned everything I know about cooking from my Gran, my Dad's Mom. She also taught me how to sew, she immigrated here as a seamstress and worked in the garment sweatshops upon her arrival to the states. She was such an excellent cook. I was the one that was anointed to learn her ways and secrets. She had one DD that never married but my Aunt was an Executive secretary, something to aspire to back in her day, she had zero time for cooking, so tag I was it and am still grateful for that.

That is so cool your Dad was taught to do that. I love stories like this. So much was lost of old world ways that were often the best. Did your Dad pass on the trade of punzki's to the next generation?
He did not. What I know is my parents stopped punzki's for years. I can't remember the details why anymore.:(

When it comes to cooking, my dad did not share a lot of recipes or have my younger brother and I help when we were growing up. He did teach us to grill when we were kids. My dad has us help him cook as a adult for stuff like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I had more learning growing up from more helping my mom from a cooking/baking standpoint. I loved helping my mom. My mom had my younger brother and I help doing stuff like cookies, cakes, pies, and tortes. I recalled my mom had my younger brother and I lick the beaters when we were kids.

My mom even had me stir the food when I was growing up.

Drumroll - Star Wars opening.
Disneyland May 31st
Disneyworld August 29th

UGH UGH UGH
Yeah, I'm not happy about it either. We're there late July/Early August, but I'm betting it will be swamped now with locals hoping for soft openings. I was so happy when they announced it would be late FALL, because that gave us several months in between that I figured everyone will flood to DLR. But this is late SUMMER...a whole season early! I'm sure Star Wars fans are ecstatic, but I wanted nice low crowd days. No wonder my crowd calender for our dates just suddenly went really high. We were at like 2 and 4 for most of the parks, and now suddenly they are at 7. And that was a few days ago before this announcement, with just speculation that it would be September or October!

Toy Story Land had no soft openings. My parents were there a few days before and said it was empty.

They went on the day it opened and it was a different story.

Yeah, but it's Star Wars....just because they didn't do soft openings for TSL doesn't mean people won't be hoping for ones for SW:GE. SW is a lot bigger....it has a huge fan base. I guess, on the upside, it's in HS, so most of the crowds will probably be concentrated there, and we aren't fans of Toy Story, so we can avoid HS for the most part. We have ADRs at Prime Time and at Sci Fi, so we'll try to get fastpasses for the Saucers and slinky dog on those days (one on each day) and DS wants to do the Jedi Training again, and DD and I want to do the Frozen sing-along. The rest we can avoid if it's packed.

Calm down I wouldn't worry 7 to 9 is what's to be expected that time of year and unless softs are open for a day or 2 locals won't be swarming and most of them have passes with blackout dates. Breathe, relax and repeat I'm going to have a wonderful vacation because my lists have lists

Probably if there are any soft openings (and that's a big if) they will be for passholders and CMs. I don't believe Avatar had any soft openings; if they did, it was only a few days before regular opening.

You'll definitely be fine. You'll have FPs plus the DAS. You'll do everything you want to.

Although if you want to do SDD, I would get a FP for that. The reason is that SDD tends to run 2 hours all day, whereas Saucers tends to run between 40-45 minutes on a crowded day, so you won't tie up your DAS as long. My combo of FPs is SDD, ToT, and RnRC. Frozen Sing Along has FPs later in the day, so that can be your fourth FP. Same with Star Tours if you want that one.

Oh, and if you need a spot to decompress for your DS, Pizzarizzo's is not currently operating, but because SWGE isn't operating yet, there's hardly any foot traffic in that area and there's plenty of seating; I think they'll even let you go inside.

Which cruise lines have you priced out?
I did Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Disney. I was leaning toward RC because they have their new island with the cool water park on it. Disney as we all know costs way too much for a larger family. Maybe the newer ships will have accomodations for 6 that are not suites, but as of now, completely unreasonable. We can spend a week at The World for what would be 3 nights on DCL.

Cannot go anywhere without the crew. Stuck like glue. I have no issues with that. They will be out and on their own before I blink twice. Trying to enjoy all our family moments. :inlove:

I hear that!!!!! 😊
It all goes by sooooo darn fast...!!! 😱😉
We definitely spent as much time with our kiddos as was reasonably possible...sooooo many good memories...!!!!!
The only trip we ever took without our kiddos was to WDW in Dec. of ‘08 for our 20th wedding anniversary, and that was for only 4 days...!!! :)

Yep, as I’ve posted before, our original intent for our first cruise was DCL (oldest DD and SonIL did a 4-day DCL cruise, along with a few days at WDW, for their honeymoon in April of ‘14). But, once the ladies priced it out, it was ridiculous...we could take 3+ Carnival cruises for what DCL wanted for similar accomadations (aft staterooms with verandas), also for a week-long cruise...BIG PASS...!!!!!!! :greedy::D;):)
