See that's the thing. You never know if it will be good or not. We have a 6:25 reservation so we should be sat around 8 but maybe we will enjoy it. Didn't they bring back the chicken wings that they previously took off the menu?

I like how you don't expect to be sat until around 8! Ohana still had the chicken wings, it was the chicken on skewers they took away for awhile.

Of the two shown, I also prefer the F. May ones. Anyway, that was a fascinating story about the sale of some stores and how that affected who could make the Frango candy. It's frustrating when stores get sold and some of the best things about the original stores go away, too. In this case, it sounds like a real convoluted mess with regard to the rights to make Frango candy, and where it can be made.

This reminds me a little bit of when one of Boston's major departments stores, Jordan Marsh, was converted to a Macy's. Some of the best things that made JM unique, were discontinued when Macy's came into town. One item that people used to love were the Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins. I'm telling you, there was a cult following for these delectable muffins, made right there in the store! :hungry: It was odd that a department store could have such a successful in-house bakery, but people would go to the store just to buy their muffins.

Of course, back years ago, the downtown area was bustling with many large department stores, as well as interesting smaller shops along the streets. Everyone went downtown to shop. Now, in the downtown area, there is only Macy's. Gone are the stores that offered different shopping experiences: Woolworths, Filene's, Gilchrists, Raymonds and Jordan Marsh. I may like the Macy's in New York City, where it originated, but I don't like what they did to JM in Boston. I never shop downtown anymore.

My Mom always took us downtown to shop 2 or 3 times a year. She power shopped, shoes, clothes for the season for both of us, boots you name it. Most of it came from Marshall Fields now Macy's. I think the store was originally 9 stories of wares. Downtown it is still pretty amazing but each floor appears to have had the walls pulled in to lessen the square footage. When they built the Mega Mall in Northern IL (farm land in the 70s now urban mess) Marshall Fields was the Flagship store, mall named WoodField Mall. The mall is still amazing and is currently under a cosmetic update yet it didn't really need it. Over Christmas I was in Macy's a few times and each time it looked like the place was ransacked. They always have the extra pipe racks on wheels. Whoever sets the store should be given their walking papers. I miss Marshall Fields.

Oh wow! Have a great time. What college?

I went to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, just a small state school. My old roommates and I usually get together once a year, we graduated in 2000, but it is the first time we have gotten back together in the town of our university. I live somewhat close, so I'm happy for the short drive. It is the 3rd weekend in a row I won't be home.

I'm also old enough to remember when Sears was an amazing department store. My favorite part of the store was where they sold candy as far as my little self could see and above my head. They also roasted fresh nuts and popped popcorn and made cheese and caramel corn all day. The smells just lured you there. We always came home with stuff from that massive counter.

So I made a reservation for Ohana. I know, I know it is most of the time not worth the money but it's my son's favorite hotel restaurant and it will be just me and him at that part of the trip because my daughter has to go home. What do you guys think? Is it a good idea?

It being your sons favorite restaurant is all that matters. Go.

We are talking about Kilimajaro Safari right? If so then one time our driver had to step on the gas because we almost saw too much lion activity if you know what I mean. And there were kids in the truck.
yes this is on kili, in my case.. (Im not sure if I posted images of my trip) the lion was hidden pretty much behind rocks and bushes.
the lionesses where nowhere to be seen.
