I may, or may, not have been known to eat a whole jar of ‘em... :cautious:
Same with pickled beets! I’m not really a fan of beets (although, I will eat them in a pinch), but, pickle ‘em, and I’m all over ‘em...!!!!! :hungry:

They also go great with a Bloody Mary...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hungry:

I noticed that they sell pickled Okra in Walmart here in Raleigh. I am not a fan of Okra in any form so like @JenniferS so eloquently puts it..... Pass!

Awesome!!! :)
Is craft fair DD helping out with youngest DDs tag sale?
If so, then she should settle for no less than $10 and a milkshake, as well...! ;):)
No, 2 different events. The morning craft fair was just for kid vendors mostly and had nothing to do with the tag sale. It was over at 11:30. It was a good learning experience for her. She learned about what sells the best, and price point. Youngest’s tag sale went on all day, but we signed up for the last shift of kids from 4-6. They collected a good bit of money for the cheer kids. Only kids who participate though get the collected money divided among them into their gym accounts. Most gave a couple of dollars, but the last person they “hit up” gave them a $20.

I’m gonna’ go out on a limb and say all the ones I’ve had (including the homemade ones) were pickled with vinegar and salt, and not lactofermentation...! :D

And, some of this is probably why...! ;)

Why don’t more people do lactofermentation? I think for one, we’ve been so ingrained with the idea that bacteria is bad, we’re scared we’ll get sick from it. Secondly, vinegar pickling is more predictable and if your going to market a product, predictability is important. Also, unless you pasteurize or can the finished product, the lactofermented food needs to stored at a cool temperature, in a root cellar or refrigerator. You can process a lactofermented product but that sort of defeats the purpose. Third, lactofermentation takes time. There is not a lot of effort involved in getting a ferment started but you do need to wait. Some ferments take under a week where others like sauerkraut can takor tween 1-3 months. Flavors also improve with time when the ferment is moved to cold storage. Some won’t touch their sauerkraut until it is at least 6 months old.

Thanks to you and the googles, I probably now no more about lactofermenation than most...!!!!!:hilarious:;):)
Interesting. I buy my fermented pickles and kraut in the refrigerated section of Wegman’s. Need to hit it up on Thursday as I am just about out. I know I can make it, but I have no extra energy or room. If @figmentfan423 lived closer, my life would be easier. ;)

So, we got a new phone for home, because the other one had some annoying features that drove us nuts. Today, we chose a different brand with some similar features, but better overall. Problem is, the new ringer sound is different from the previous phone, and Jack jumps up from his dog bed, completely freaked out when he hears the sound. He thinks we're being invaded by aliens!! :hilarious:
Poor Jack. He needs some Beef Jerky.

The Oasis was a fun time for our family to spend some time together at...they are, and will always be, my life...!!!!!:)

Unfortunately, I have no major food pics. :(;)
We waited 45 mins. just to be seated, and it was also a little while before we got our drink order and chips and salsa, and our DDs were in the ladies room then. He said he’d be back shortly to take our food order...
He wasn’t, and by the time he got back to us, we had already filled up on chips and salsa...sooooo much spicy, garlicky, goodness in that salsa...!!!!! :joyfull::hungry::)
No biggie, and all understandable, as it is a holiday weekend on Lake Travis, so it was already pretty packed, and the sunset crowd was already startin’ to pack it in even more..!!! :)
The Oasis is known as The Sunset Capital of Texas...!!!!!!!
