wait.. no doctor???

Yes, we’ll follow up with his pediatrician, but it should end there.
P.S.: I think you might have shared those scenery pictures for me (you tagged a different Minnie, but I'm sure they'll also be appreciated by the other member as well  ). Anyway, those were some nice vistas, and it looked like a perfect day for get in some great views!

Oh my gosh.. oops!!!

Wow, poor kid. Hope it heals fast and properly. Ear infections and ear pain are tough. That cliff/rock jump looks scary to me! Brave!

He was so brave! A lot of kids and teens/adults were chickening out.. it looks much higher when you’re up there! I thought he may get scared once on the edge, but I think he wanted to do it to help the little boy behind him.
I cannot go deep under water anymore. The pressure kills me. Maybe it wasn’t the dive per se but the pressure from entering the water and the depth that caused the perforation. I hope he is feeling better.
My sister also gets a perf every time she goes deep under water. She actually did this so much in her childhood that she doesn't go underwater at all anymore.

Hope T heals quickly! Sorry your trip was cut short! It looked beautiful!

Definitely the pressure, it can happen during scuba diving as well.. I hope this isn’t something that he’ll be prone to, he won’t be able to become a diver if so. :( I’m going to think positive that it was only a one time thing.

Here’s some various comforting signs along our hikes. :cautious:

The crazy thing is, they say “don’t climb over the railings”, yet the railings are only at a few points.. none at all when you’re crossing the natural bridges. I’m glad I waited til T was 8 to bring him. I made him walk in front of me in the center. I did climb over quite a few railings.. but I always stayed about 6 inches from the edge.. maybe motherhood or just age has wisened me up to not feeling the need to dangle my legs off the side of a cliff.

He likely will be "prone" to it, but it won't necessarily affect ability to dive. He would have to ascend and descend slower, but he should be able to dive. And if he is prone to it, he can always get his ear drum replaced. Mine was replaced almost a decade ago and I haven't had any issues since. And I can hear the direction of sounds now too, lol

I bet people still laughed at those warnings and went over the railing...

I somehow pinched a nerve under my shoulder blade. I nursed it for a few days but this morning I woke up and my arm was numb so I went in. They gave me Prednisone, and it is the WORST tasting med I've ever had. But I can move my arm again, so that's helpful!
Sorry!!! Glad it is letting you move it again. I’ve had a frozen shoulder before and it isn’t fun!

Prednisone is a miracle drug that can be used to treat many things. My wife has to take it occasionally to help treat her asthma. Be careful though while taking it as it lowers your immune system.

Perforated his ear drum while we were cliff jumping. The pain was intense, he cried like crazy.. but it was such a delayed cry.. finally cried himself to sleep while I went in search of an urgent care.. couldn’t find one, so we ended up having to drive to the closest hospital, an hour away. Both ears are now infected as well.

He says they don’t hurt anymore, but unfortunately he can’t swim for at least two weeks until we see his regular doctor and find out if the perforation healed. :( We’re going to leave in the morning, we’ll come back when he can enjoy all of it.
Poor baby. I hope he's feeling better today xoxo
