I'm going to ask for this specific one. I'm hoping to get it sometimes this week. My parents leave for their vacation the week after this one, so I want this done before then. We'll see how good my dad's powers of negotiation are.
I just came on the forum to seek you out and ask for the update. Songbird76 beat me to it :)
It's so exciting to get a new car, huh!?

Yes! And I've been wanting to do this since January, so the fact that it's finally time is exciting. I'm going to be impatient about all this, though. And really hating my current car.:hilarious:

My grandfather actually wants my car, though. He has a Jeep that he just uses to run down to his boat, but its on its last legs. He and my uncle, who lives with him, are car guys, so they would just fix what's wrong with it themselves. There's something wrong where it will fail emissions, but since he's over a certain age (I forget what the age is, but he's 82), he doesn't have to get emissions testing done. So it works out.

I pulled up Outlook to check my personal email. My work email is also in there, and I made the mistake of looking at it. Which means the same department that usually only irritates me during the week was now emailing me to bug me on a weekend...someone in Poland is working today.

People.

Ran my first race today...I've been running all these years so why not before who knows. 5K in 34 minutes......Amazing how the course record is 14 minutes. Hilly course too. The event is Gaspee Days....which proceeds the Boston Tea Party in Revolution fables.

You can lose weight easily by going on a completely whole foods diet. Ok, @Mr Ferret 88 . Here is where you come in with a snarky, yet very amusing response. ;) They do add other things to reduced fat foods though. Label reading is important. If you cannot find ingredients on the label that do not sound like food, you shouldn't be eating it.

Oh, I understand what you're saying. My point was that medical people were telling my friend to choose lower fat versions of food that she enjoyed (such as lower fat peanut butter for example). Many people can't switch to (let's say for example) veggie type diets and stick with them--if they haven't enjoyed certain foods like those before. People like what they like, and the dr. and dietician knew that in order for my friend to succeed, they had to work with some of her favorite foods to get her to stick with it. Again, it was getting to be a serious medical situation with her diabetes, so it was critical that she stuck with the program.

Hi all! :) First off thank you for the many well wishes. It's been a long few weeks and I just had to step away from a lot in my life and regroup. The diagnosis was nothing for the longest time then the torn hip muscle with hyperextended knee (which is positive), then MS, then not MS, then rheumatoid arthritis, then not that, then MS again, then not, then yes with scarring from over fifteen years ago and no symptoms since then.....a real mental rollercoaster! Everyone has told me to get second opinion on the MS thing so I am.

Then three friends all lost their moms since Memorial Day. It comes in threes so I'm done with that! School has been out for a few weeks so that's been nice. I'm not digging the 90* days but this week was so cold our heat ran at night. Mother Nature!

I think for once I may have to dive in somewhere and ketchup, I just don't where. Just keep swimming....just keep swimming....:D

So good to hear from you and hope that things settle down a bit. You can always come here to escape. :) You've had quite a few weeks.

Oh, I also hope your daughter has a fun summer, and enjoys every day.

The answer to that is that everyone is different. I don't intentionally do things that are bad for me, but, I'm sure I do quite often because of lack of knowledge. Do what makes the most sense to you after doing just a minor amount of research.

The fact of the matter is that all the stuff we do is not going to give us everlasting life. We are either going to die of something definable or we are going to die of nothing. But, the unchangeable fact is that at some point, no matter what we do, we are going to die. If there is another life awaiting us, then we can do it all again. If not, then we have to make the most of the life that we do have. Seems complicated, but, it isn't really. Live life in the manner that makes you happy. That is the best that any of us can do.

Amen. And I'm always reminded of what my grandmother told us (although she didn't create this expression) -- "Everything in moderation" (Seems to make sense to me! A moderate amount of ice cream, candy, cookies, etc. :hilarious: ) I always obeyed my grandmother! :joyfull:

I just spent three days in the hospital. I had two roommates over that time. One had his left leg missing. The second one had 4 of his toes missing and was in there for them to cut the dead flesh from two more. Both situations caused by Diabetes. That would be all the motivation I would need. People don't really believe what Diabetes will do to them, Perhaps part of the Diagnosis should include a visit or a film of the ravages that it can and does cause.

The like is for you being "out" of the hospital. I hope you are fine.

It started out as a simple kidney stone (yes, another), but, became Sepsis (blood infection) that had some side affects that I had never even heard about, the three most serious were chills accompanied by severe complete body shaking, shortness of breath and low blood pressure. Pretty scary for a while, but, I think I'm on the road to recovery.
