I woke up to the news that a tornado hit just north of Laramie, Wyoming, but it seems no one was injured. There were some pretty spectacular videos of it. I'd be taking cover, but maybe that's just me. I find it difficult to judge distance in those wide open spaces. Who knows when it will barrel down on your house!!

But not a single picture from the school of the kids at camp. They weren't allowed to bring any phones or other electronic devices, but promised to post lots of pictures so we could see what our kids are doing. I keep looking it up and there's not a single one!!
I'm sure they're just too busy having fun to post anything

Well, there's just no reasoning with an irate parent who thinks their child is perfect. Are you required to offer extra credit? Isn't that kind of the point of extra credid work? That it's extra because you didn't do what you needed to do in the first place? So why didn't he just do what was expected of him? He had every opportunity to up his grade....it's his choice if he doesn't want to make use of it.

Sorry to hear about those other things! So sad! I hope they find the missing man and that the 8th grader recovers. That's not a very nice start to Summer vacation!!
Wow. First of all, it must be "interesting" dealing with the parents of kids. Because I'm so far removed from school, I think of teachers instructing their students only. I completely missed the other aspect of teaching--parents!

I hope the missing son returns safe and sound.

I also hope that the former student sees the light and that he/she turns him/herself in.

Prayers to the 8th grader in the accident--the injuries sound serious.

Yeah parents can be a real thrill sometimes, and this lady is a teacher in our district too. So she should know how it is. Her kid was at a B+, I think she wanted him at an A. He should have done the work for an A.

Thanks for your good vibes on the other situations. We haven’t heard any news about any of them. The boy that was in the accident is a church member so hubs is going to visit him today.

I just posted an independent thread on I-Hop changing its name to I-Hob.
Stupid.....but I admit it caught my attention.
Was this discussed on this thread today?
(I hope everyone had a good day :) )
What??? I thought my oldest was joking about that yesterday. I didn't take it seriously and thought it was someone stupid internet joke. What does the "b" stand for? Blues?;)

Omg.

We’ve been at baseball.. just checked my email..

T WAS OFFERED A POSITION ON HIS SAME SOCCER TEAM.

Why do I not feel more excited about it? I’ve been staring at it for 3 minutes now.. haven’t even told him yet.
Probably because of what they put you and T through to get to this point. I would be feeling a bit ambivalent myself.

I was a little confused at the every 6 months.. this offer is thru Spring of 2019.. but they do still have to try out again in November..apparently they can be moved up at that time, but it’s rare that they get moved down..either way they can’t be asked to leave the club based on that tryout performance. It’s all so confusing to me. Sooooo different from my soccer days.

This is where Kids/Parents can accept or reject. You must accept within 48 hours.
Apparently another kid must have rejected the offer.

Wow! That participation fee is way more than littlest dd's commitment to compete in cheer. You have to pay for coaching and tournaments on top of that, I assume.

I think people like that are either frustrated at home- so start arguments and/or say outrageous things online to get their frustrations out, or- they have serious bullied syndrome issues, and come online putting people down in order to make themselves feel better.
I could be wrong, but I see quite a few people who do something similar, and that’s what I always think. I don’t see how anyone finds enjoyment in attacking/putting people down from behind a keyboard..so, I look at them as “amusing”.
I must have missed a post I think.

I still have to work a half day tomorrow, but no more kids. It was a crazy end of the year....

1. I had a crazy mom email about something she thought was unfair, he missed an extra credit opportunity and I said it was too late to make up, I pointed out to her (with multiple emails) that even if he had gotten all the points it wouldn't have changed his letter grade. However making corrections on his homework (which he didn't do) would have improved his grade. But she didn't care about that.

2. One of our teacher's aides had her son (30 years old) go missing and he is still missing.

3. Learned that a former student got pulled over and ran away from the cops and is still on the run.

4. One of my 8th graders got into a 4 wheeling accident this afternoon and has a severely fractured skull, brain bleed, and is in pediatric ICU.

Holy cow!
I cannot like any of that. Prayers for the missing person and for the youngster.

That’s great! Our leagues weren’t like that when I was growing up, or now with my kid. Parents and coaches supplied/supply everything with the exception of the fields, which the athletic dues do technically pay for.
How do the Little League teams have so much money to be able to provide all of that?
I think they were sponsored by businesses. Remember the Bad News Bears? The original. I don't even want to go into why they had to remake it. The kids were sponsored by Chico's Bail Bonds. :hilarious:
