I know you’re right, I just can’t handle a repeat of last year after he didn’t make the baseball team.. and I expect this would be amplified times 10.
It’s driving me crazy that I missed both tryouts. I know the people who took him were watching their own son, so I have no idea how he really did. Here’s what he said-

“I didn’t do too well Mom, especially after I slipped and did the splits. (Apparently that happened lol).. I didn’t cry, but my left ankle hurt after and I don’t think I played very good at the end. Actually, I made a lot of mistakes. I know they were mistakes, and I don’t know why I made them it’s like I forget for a second sometimes, my palms get sweaty. I’m still going to make the team though. I just know it. They’ll know that I wasn’t my normal self at tryouts.”

So I told him that at least he recognizes the mistakes, and can just keep playing until he’s so comfortable that his palms never get sweaty. I also told him that knowing that he made mistakes, he can’t be sure that he made the team. That there was a lot of kids. And even if he doesn’t make premier or elite ( I wouldn’t let him play Elite anyway, it’s full soccer only commitment, no other sports allowed).. or even if he doesn’t make Gold.. that if he can work on his confidence then he can try out again in the Fall, if he wants to.

His response-

“Mom. Why would you even say that? Of course I’m going to make Premier. There’s no other option. I don’t want to think about not making it.”

:(:(:(

I’m dreading the results.
When do you find out? The suspense must be hard. But he'll be fine either way...he may not want to think about not making it, and you've done your best to prepare him. If he doesn't, yes....he'll be upset. BUT, he'll live. And he'll learn. You are doing fine, mama...you'll deal with whatever comes, and he will too.

I like that show, too! A few years ago, I kinda stumbled on it, while channel surfing. Oddly enough, even though I don't like football, I found the cheerleading show to be fascinating. Never realized how competitive a cheer team like that is, and the high standards they need to achieve/maintain to stay on the squad. Gotta give them credit--they work very hard.
I don't need to watch it every year one or 2 of them wind up on the news for either disorderly conduct or something deserving of a Darwin award. That being said they are underpaid.

There's this show i really love (don't judge me) about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and their team is a very elite cheerleading team. There are some women who make the team only after trying out 3-5 years in a row. They're good, but the team is elite, so being good isn't enough.

I mention this, because if T is really interested in playing for the elite teams, he might have to try out a few times for them and that doesn't mean he's not a good player. A lot of really good players will not make the team.

Either way, hugs!!! I hope they get back to the kids soon so you aren't sitting and wondering for long.

I started to go back and read, but then i realized you might not be on the last few pages yet.
That's a really good point. That you can be good and still not make it because there are a LOT of good players. I didn't make the elite choir my freshman year of college..there were older, more experienced singers who were better. And then the next year I made both of the elite groups. But even my senior year, I didn't make Jazz in my last semester. I was devastated, but the director said he wanted to try out some different sounds, and there were a couple of us who had been in it the last few years who didn't make it. It didn't work out well for him, and if I'd have been back the next year, I probably would have made it again. But sometimes a coach, director, judge wants chocolate, and sometimes he wants vanilla. It doesn't mean you aren't good....just not what he's looking for at that moment.

I disagree. Disney and Universal are a different animal to those. B&N and Toys R Us are retail based that have fallen foul of changing shopping dynamics.
The Theme parks offer an experience. And by raising the prices and making more "parties" they are making a more exclusive experience.
The tipping point will come when people no longer believe that the experience is worth the cost. That for me is going to be a long way off.
Wait! Are you by any chance one of the younger brothers of the Queen that no one in the House of Windsor talks about? The would explain the obvious wealth! :greedy::happy:

That is one obsessed kid.

Oh it’s ridiculous. I think he’s so excited because he was too young to really be into the past World Cup years..We hung flags and removed them as countries were knocked out, he did enjoy that. ;) Now he knows the players and is old enough to follow it. This year he has a poster to narrow the brackets down. I’d love to make the flags again, but I don’t see it happening this year.lol
