I have to share another “On this Day”

Thought this was kind of funny., we don’t fly kites too often, too many trees around.. but apparently we flew a kite on the same day in 2014 and 2017, at different parks. Just realized it when scrolling on my May 7th FB memories.

These posts revived my a mission to hit all Butler, Warren, and Hamilton County parks! So many visited, but so many still to go. I love T’s involvement in sports, but I miss these days of exploring our area.

Those are nice memories. In years to come, you'll probably cherish them even more than now.

@donaldtoo Are you sailing on the Dream? What a fluke for that pipe to break. My best friends are cruising on it next spring.

It's the Freedom, actually.
And yes, crazy indeed. I've never heard of that happening before. At least it seems to have been contained to only deck 9. Sounds like the crew was on top of the situation quickly, and with the cleanup afterwards...!

This is not right. You would be a great pet parent, because you love animals. I hope you go out and buy yourself a dog or cat.
That is the same thing my daughter says to me almost daily. I try to explain that even though I like animals I have spent my entire live taking care of living creatures, be they dogs, cats or humans and I don't want to have to do it anymore. I no longer find it fulfilling.

Her pit bull thinks I am the greatest thing since sliced bread and I have no idea why. All I have ever done is pet her a couple of times, I don't even bring treats, but, she is always excited to see me. It must be my animal magnetism or probably some other reason like my chicken scented aftershave.

Thanks all for the warm wishes. It was a looong day and a do nothing day yesterday. Let's say it was an adventure I don't want to do ever again.

First, I got to the hospital and checked in okay. They took me back to waiting room and said they needed some blood for testing and took four vials. :bored: Then they put in an IV....that I didn't need. But wait, it gets better.

They had me lay down in bed on the side with my torn hip muscle and I cried and cried until some nice nurse guy walking past the room came in and said the bed wasn't adjusted correctly and helped me. But wait, it gets better.

The procedure was done in my regular clothes, I was expecting a gown. They rolled me onto my stomach, cleaned my lower back and then put on lidocaine. The doc started injecting the numbing stuff for the nerves all in that area. Then I kicked and kicked again (which I told the nurse I did during my cortisone shots and they ignored) and the doc realized I needed more lidocaine.

After that I didn't feel anything but a hard pressure on that area. He said it was a slow drip to fill the vial and to breathe in and out then bear down like you need to poop and the vial will fill faster. Well after two of those I thought, if I keep doing this I'll need to 💩! He showed me what they took out and surprising fact....spinal fluid is clear like water! But wait, it gets better.

Afterwards I had to lay flat for two hours in a curtained cubicle with nothing to look at. It was to prevent a spinal headache, which thank the man upstairs I never got. They said it's like the worst migraine ever. After laying there for the first hour, I had to pee but I couldn't get up for another hour. :grumpy: But wait, it gets better.

Thirty minutes past the time they said I could leave someone finally came with my discharge papers and forgot I had this IV tube in! Duh! They also told me that with the numbing agents I'd be extra wobbly on my legs. Just great. By this time I forgot about the bathroom and just wanted to go home!

But wait, it gets better....

Woof!!!
Major sympathy like.

A very nice volunteer (she reminded me of Doris Day) and the valet parker got me into the car. I got really lightheaded (and my mother is known to jam on the brakes :in pain:) so we got lunch at McD's. The doc said extra caffeine for a few days would help so I had a large Dr. Pepper. (Not remembering I had to pee!) We had a torrential downpour while eating in the car so we had to wait it out, couldn't see to drive. But wait, it gets better.

We got to my house and my legs felt like a ton but I knew if I got in the house I could just lay down! My porch was extremely slippery and I got up two steps and couldn't get a grip on the bannister, stuck in between two steps! My mom "tried" to help lift my foot up (as I'm screaming I'm going to fall!!!) and she shoved me forward on my injection sight instead and I did a belly flop on my porch! :bawling::bawling::bawling: But wait, it gets better!

My neighbor who happened to be in her yard came sprinting down the street to help me. With the torn hip muscle and my legs like jelly and in EXTREME pain I couldn't stand up. My neighbor called an ambulance and stayed until they got there. My mom was just in a shock. The nice EMTs got me standing and into the house. They asked if I needed to go to the hospital and I said no I just left there! They took my vitals 160/98, well with all that happened did you think it would be perfect? They said my bandages we're good and left. But wait, it gets funny.

I'm soaked from laying on the porch so my mom got me clean clothes to change. She put the wet ones in the washer and asked how I could be so drenched! Then I laughed and laughed through the tears. While freaking out about everything and not being able to get up I remembered (subconsciously) I had to pee.:oops:

Yesterday I slept most of the day and the doc said do nothing, and I did. The iodine wash has given me a rash so I'm so happy I can shower later! My best friend gave me a shower seat so I plan on just sitting under the water and napping. So that's been my adventures the past few days. Oh, and Star Wars, lots of Star Wars. :cat:

HOLY CANNOLI!!!!!!!
Those are the kinda' adventures we can all do without...!!!!! :cyclops:
Glad you survived ;), and hope you're feeling MUCH better by now...!!!!! :)

A wasp was on my porch today. I got it with the fly swatter and it bounced off the screen and hit me in the chin. It didn’t sting but it took me by surprise and gave a yelp. I have no idea where it went but I haven’t seen it since. I told my husband he should spray the area tomorrow when we go to work as I have seen a few around the porch area this weekend.

Their prominent around here this time of year, too. I catch the nests they try to build high up on our front porch very early on, and knock them down with a broom, so they never really get anything going there. They will also, of course, build high up in the gables.
I didn't notice one one year 'til it was as big as a softball...it was high up on the far side of the house behind our backyard fence, and partially hidden by tree branches. I noticed while I was mowing and happened to look up.
I got one of those cans of Raid that shoots like 30 feet. Wiped 'em out.

Hope y'all get 'em early...!!!

Oh my gosh. What an exciting day for dd, her team, and us crazy parents. There were 17 teams actually. The announcer kept announcing teams and there’s hadn’t gotten announced. When they got to 10, we all started looking at each other. Then 9, then8, then 7, 6. When he got to 5 and they still were not called we held our breaths. Four got called and it wasn’t them. All the other teams clear the stage and only the top 3 are left. Remember that team from Tom’s River, NJ that had beaten them twice? Yep, they were one of the 3. Well the announcer says there was a tie for second. Then he announces first and it was not Toms River and not dd’s. They actually tied for 2nd. They lost first by only .09. We were so proud of them. It was their first time at this competition and it was the first season of cheer for many of the girls. Here are some pics. In the photo with the 3 groups, her team is on the left. The middle team got first. So cheer season is now over, except for The Summit at Disney. That is next weekend.
