My MIL very much appreciated that I asked her for her daughters hand in marriage. Even if my FIL had been in the picture I would have asked them both.

DWifey had a bouquet, as well, plus there were more flowers in the church.
DWifeys dress wasn't inexpensive, but, it wasn't expensive (to us, anyway) either.
We had two cakes, and DWifey did wear a veil (her choice) over her face.
The ceremony was co-officiated by the Lutheran pastor from her church and the priest from our church, at our church.
Shortly after we were married DWifey, through a long process, converted to Catholisism. Before that, we both took classes at each other's churches to learn more about the two faiths, as we wanted to settle on one so we weren't bouncing back and forth, especially after we had kiddos.
She decided to become Catholic because my family was more devout and she felt there would be better religious support for the kiddos there.
And, we also honeymooned at WDW...!

As far as the cost goes, it wasn't crazy either, and much of the expenses were spread out.
MIL payed for DWifeys dress, DWifeys favorite aunt made both cakes, my folks covered the catering, and DWifeys grandfather gifted us some money to put towards our wedding. We covered most of the rest. We also had a band at the reception from my mother's hometown (Shiner - Shiner Beer 😋 😊), so they gave us a great price.
It could have indeed been crazy, as we had invited 250-ish guests (225-ish showed up), but we tried to keep things fairly reasonable so we weren't starting off in the poor house, but, had an awesome wedding and memories to look back on...and, that's the way it worked out...!!!!!

They invited about 125-ish, and about 100-ish showed up...!

Their ceremony was held outside at a local venue near the lake. DD wore a white dress, carried a bouquet, and wore (although, not over her face) a veil. Things she wanted in her wedding. Again, like her mother, no "owned" shrinking violet (as are both of our DDs ).
Everything about their wedding and reception was beautiful and awesome, and it was an amazing day...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::happy:

Sounds like (and looks like) beautiful weddings! Especially if there was Shiner beer!

I'm not a religious person by any means but I have my beliefs. We have a little country congregational church that welcomes anybody and everybody that the family belongs to. We weren't married in a church either.
I was raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, but I don't consider myself as having a particular denomination. I don't need a "brand name" for my faith. My mother was very angry that I stopped going to the MSL church that she chose for me, because apparently it wasn't my decision to make.

I would never take a car through a carwash. Have seen them take off too many things or wreck the paint. If it is a struggle doing it yourself @StarWarsGirl , try and find a valet company that also does washes.
That would probably be because where you live they very well might be using tree branches to wack the dirt off. Over here we use water, soap and soft brushes. What goes into the car wash comes out still attached to the cars. :joyfull:;):cautious:

I used to wear my rings(engagement and wedding) religiously all the time since I got them. They are platinum. Then about 2 years ago I got this awful fiery red rash on the skin area covered by the rings. :eek:I thought you couldn't get a reaction to platinum. I read that it was some sort of fungus and that the only way to heal it was basically not wear them all the time, especially showering or swimming. It was painful. So now I only wear them when I go out of the house or am on vacation. But when I wash my hands they go into my pocket and then I dry the skin really well before I put them back on. The ring indentation marks actually went away, but probably because they were never really tight anyway. I have to be careful in the supermarket especially if I am cold. They can slip off really easily.

One of the retail jobs I had back after I was laid off from the firm back during the last recession was selling jewelry at Kay Jewelers.
I know you could be allergic to platinum, but, you could also be allergic to nickel in the ring (assuming it's not 100% pure 😉), as well, or both.

Back about 20 years ago, I lost a whole bunch of weight and my ring became too big and would slip off. With the pattern on it, I didn't want it cut, but, rings with patterns on them can be scrunched down about half a size without compromising the ring or the pattern.
Half a size (from 10.5-10) turned out to not be enough, so we ended up getting me an inexpensive, thin, 14K band to wear, and the original went in a drawer.
Obviously, I gained the weight back and had to then drawer the smaller band and wear the original again, that is a half size too small...!!! :hilarious:

I kind of like going through the car wash, when the soap comes out it smells really good. It would be cheaper to wash it myself but that is tough now in the winter to haul out the hose and everything, it would probably make our driveway really icy. Plus in these winter months I like that it sprays the salt and much off the under part of the car, I couldn't do that well on my own. And I'm a few inches taller than you but I still don't think I could do a good job to the top either!:) So for $10 and about 3 minutes it is worth it to me!

Well worth the cost. We rarely get the car washed, but we always go to a car wash place--so much easier and never had an issue. Out where I am, it's more like $15, but still worth it.

That doesn't go away quick either. I was married for 29 years. The band was gold with diagonal groves. The groves were basically worn off. I Divorced 18 years ago and I can still see where that ring sat on my finger all those years. For 10 or so of those years it was very prominent, not so much today but I can still see where it was.

Yep, that's gonna' leave a mark...!!! :hilarious:

That feeling when the non-American is more in touch with the American news than you are...:hilarious: I was only half paying attention to the news last night. Can I get some sort of pass for being sick?

I laughed about this, because I also had the exact same feeling (embarrassment) this morning when Mr. Ferret was ahead of me, with our own country's news! That Mr. Ferret--he's quick!!

I love the nods to Disney and the turquoise accents. Very pretty.

I like the lighting. Quite lovely. What was the wagon for? Rice or bubbles?
