As for driving long distance without digital entertainment.
My mom droves us to the south of Span during the summer every year when I was a kid. 2000 km with 4 young children, no secnav, no Ipads, no DVD players etc. We would camp on the beach for 5 weeks and then make the journey home again.
Oh, and we drove a Lada which had zero luxuries, not even power steering.6c9ddaas-480.jpg
My mother was either crazy or very brave, probably a combination of both.😂

Oh man.... I just found the ONE THING I hate about the upgrade....... I'm not seeing a banner on the posts that signifies who the original poster of the thread is. Is that gone?!?! Can we have it back, please?!?!

Please don't make me scroll all the way back through the pages to double check who's thread it is :cry::cry:

While I am staying at my sister's I take care of the household. So I do all the shopping, cooking and cleaning. I made a meal plan for this week and the only thing my sister asked me to cook is ginger beer pulled pork. No problem I thought...
Turns out pork shoulder isn't sold at most places. I have been to 3 different supermarkets without luck. The last supermarket was a large Chinese one which was a lot of fun. So many unusual products and loads of yummy food, they did sell pork stomach but no shoulder. I will try a butcher shop tomorrow.

Many of the older cars were better. My thought is that it's because they didn't have all the fancy sensors (as you mentioned). More stuff now, more can do wrong. And a lot of the new things they're adding are totally unnecessary. I don't need a livingroom entertainment center in my car.
I don't need the entertainment center either. I want a car that will drive itself.

Ha! True. (But on the other hand, we did take long car trips in the summer when I was a kid. We played games in the car, read comic books, and often created our own "games" like who could be the first one to find the most red cars on the highway, in a period of five minutes, etc.) Occasionally, we'd argue and make a fuss, and my father would warn us that if we didn't knock it off, he'd turn the car around and go home. We'd then shut up. Somehow, we all survived.
As a kid we made driving trips from Ohio to Texas and back to visit family. We each had a tote bag for books, toys and games. If it didn't fit in the bag it didn't come with us. We had a cooler and would stop at rest stop picnic areas and have sandwiches and chips. We also had Tang drink in a beverage cooler. And the windows were always down on hot days, no a/c running. Ahh, memories.

Ah yes. Simpler times for sure. :) No worries about emojis, no wifi, or other 21st century innovations. :p
